While adoring the original, I really liked this remake. They didn't try to copy paste, they moved things around and did adapt the setting to a modern world.
And in the way they made that movie boring and patronizing as shite, removing the critical satiric and cynical elements of Verhoven's work to replace them with straight manichean moralism. Like they did with the newest total recall shite.
Man there is nothing remotely redeemable about this remake. If it werent a remake and trying to steal fame from a masterpiece, I would still find it bad, but the fact that they tried to replace the Verhoven one with this bland generic idiocy, makes me fking hate it even more.
Honestly I prefer this over the original. It felt less awkward, janky, I don't know how to describe it. You'll know what I mean when you watch them back to back

This was whimsical and fun. I also thought this movie was pretty good. On a less idiotic side, I'd like to state that the effort to respect the original idea was in there, and I respected that. I appreciate why they went with "Barely saved 10% of a guy with tech" instead of "Enslaved a dead guy before his brain went to rot for it's computing power." Artistic liberty with a solid dose of respectful integrity. 10/10 great reboot, would watch a sequel.

@@fncm3421 actually, the reason the movie wasn’t rated R is due to budget cuts from the studio, forcing them to have less detailed and gory scenes. They originally planned to make it rated R anyways, but the studio threatened them with further cuts. However, you can still tell the original script was rated R in the final movie, like with the scene where Murphy sees what’s left of him.
I wanna say... "Why do you need to watch a 2 hour long movie, when you can watch an idiot explaining the sh*t out of that movie in a 10 minute video?"

I kinda find it hard to believe they were only able to salvage 3 of his body parts in a tiny car explosion that didn't even reach the steps to his door

An explosion like that can effectively act like being shot with a cannon sized shotgun at point blank depending on where the explosives are put and what kind they are Even if they aren't ripped off immediately, they can be forced to make amputations to stop the bleeding as well.
hemorrhaging money refers to LOSING MONEY because of high costs either from high marketing costs, labor costs, production costs, R&D costs, carrying lots of debt or some such and thus being in the red. It doesn't refer to not being able to sell in a specific market. This was a misuse of the phrase "hemorrhaging money" since the company is making money hand over fist.

The point with the giant robot turning the kid into a pink mist isn't that the robot sees the kid as a threat to Itself, it's that, to a binary system (Yes threat or No threat, no reasoning Pure logic) that kid COULD be a threat to the humans Accompanying the robot, and as it was During an attack the robots programming is probably something simple like "Remove ALL threats" not "remove Immediate threat, secure area, await instruction". So yeah, still Dumb that it blew a kid into a funny coloured cloud, But it's understandable from a "find the problem and solve it" point of view.
America dabbling in Colonialism
The robot scanned for his weapons and found a knife, which the robot could identify as a close-combat weapon or to be thrown. So he could warn him to not move and the robot will not repeat itself. Then fire at one of his legs if the boy doesnt listen. There still are more if-statements to be evaluated before "kill" or "not kill". If it is able to recognize a knife, then it should be able to recognize and separate different body parts.
