Had to read up on this one. The Presque Isle is an interesting vessel. She's the only integrated tug/barge on the Great Lakes and the largest in the world. This video is the first time I've ever heard her tooter. I think she has a lovely, kind of haunting sound. Very nice.

A few years ago, the cook of the Presque Isle came into the chat with us. Everyone bombarded him about life on the ship. He was forth coming with the info and was very pleasant. This happened during the night time hours. Wherever he is now, I hope he's doing well. Always enjoy seeing the Presque Isle when she comes in, or leaves.

I’m not one to get sentimental about machines, but it is really great to see this boat and the people that sail her back to port safe and sound. Time will tell the future, but she held together, got her load off loaded and like airplane pilots say, “any landing that gets the occupants back on the ground alive is a good landing, even if the plane is a total loss”.

Glad the ole gal and crew made it. She's a stubborn ole cuss who won't give up the fight. That said, Duluth harbor Cam might want to edit wrong info."After a near disaster when the Michipicoten hit an unknown submerged object near Isle Royal" It was determined she hit nothing, that it is a hull stress fracture.

A good thing there is a dry dock that can fit her on Lake Superior. Imagine how much more complicated it would have been if it was a thousand footer that had this kind of problem.

At 70 years of age this old girl deserves a good rest for what shes done for the Great lakes she should be saved certainly not scrapped. I'm English fingers crossed she's back up and I'm a welder if I was in the states I'd have loved to help rescue her , regards from Leeds West Yorkshire England 🇬🇧
