New equestrian here. 1) why do so many jumpers and hunters use Pelham or curb bits? 2) how do you keep so close to others without biting? All my mares will nip at the horse in front within 1m, here they're so close!

And that is the easy part. How about riding in the middle or at the end of the first field? A good hunter can take any position in the field.
