Everand is a scam.. its is not unlimited contrary to what they advertise even if you find books on there they will block you ..used it for over a year. It was ok as scribd but is slowly but surely getting worse.. do not sign up for a year.

I think I might buy them because of the critiques you gave. I appreciate historical fiction books that put you in the mind of people of the time, and not in the mind of modern people living in a historical looking world. There are already so many stories of the latter nowadays, but the former are more rare, and to me thus more interesting. From history research books and archeology we only get the cold facts, and historical fiction in my mind is to explore and do thought experiments to discover everything about these societies and cultures between the lines about these times. These books don't always have to add a commentary on modern societal issues, or preach a modern moral judgment about these times and cultures. I appreciate when these books leave that up to the reader to form opinions and judgments.

I just finished Nettle and Bone today and am looking for more information about this author. Thanks!!!! (Love Bonedog 😊) Picked up The Seventh Bride on Kindle Unlimited. Don’t know a thing about it but it was free by an author I enjoyed so I thought I’d give it a read.

L&L bored me. I was on WoW RP servers for 14 years and we created way better experiences than what I read in this book 😂😂 Its a 3 star. Boring but not “bad”, as in not poorly written. Im so glad im not the only one who wasn’t a fan lol

Again, the publisher still gets plenty out of reviews that come out after the publication date. Especially if you are doing reviews on commercial sites. It’s not prepublication buzz but people continue to buy books after publication dates and a considered review will bump up a book. Make readers curious. I too don’t review DNF books if I haven’t read a substantial. It doesn’t make a huge dent in ratio once you get into higher numbers of books approved and reviewed.

Honestly I don’t think this is so. A single book that has passed its publication date is unlikely to cause declines. Many members, including myself, have backlogs and work at clearing them. A considered review even after the publication date can still promote the book and bring it to the attention of potential readers.

Ahh I missed this live! I kind of have the same mentality of treating my channel like a part time job. I don't think I'd be as consistent if I treated it as a hobby. Executive disfunction is a real thing... Lol

Love the orange sweater! Definitely hits the vibes. Agree that Kingfisher loves to do the seesaw between cozy and creepy, which is perfect for fall. I've read most of Kingfisher's work now but I might have to pick up Toad Words at the end of this year to get more of the cozy/creepy vibes. And I need to try Nettle and Bone one more time, it's one of the only ones I haven't connected to which feels like a guilty confession since she's otherwise one of my favorites and it's the one that most people fell in love with. 😅

I joined Scribd because I couldn’t get the audiobooks I wanted! They have a huge selection of cosy mysteries including the latest. Of course I quickly made every mistake! I made lists on Scribd of everything I wanted which included a lot of new stuff. They encourage it! Then they turn around and punish you it seems! They should be more transparent! It costs more than my monthly fee to buy one audiobook. I am getting a great deal if I take only 5 audiobooks a month and only one is brand new! I was buying alot of audiobooks and I can’t afford to keep it up! I have decided to stick with Scribd and work my way around their system for now! I can’t get this audiobook selection anywhere else!

I do love Gaiman, but I also was not a fan of Stardust. Another reminder that I need to get to GGK... Absolutely love the Kate Elliott love! I absolutely loved Crown of Stars and have enjoyed her newer short work, getting ready to finally do her Crossroads trilogy! Also if he so down to join in a reread of Crown of Stars, I've been trying to get more people to read it and it's a great time with the audio out for the whole series now! Kingfisher is one I definitely need to check out, I'll have to check out the video you referenced as well!

I like idea of steam fantasy. IT which writer increase the technology level of there fantasy story to the steam age. I think Atlantis is diesel punk. which our fantasy story now in the electric /internal combustion age.

My experience with Scribd was terrible. I cancelled before my 30 day free trial was over because the choice of books was very limited, hardly any best sellers or books by renowned authors. 2 and half years later I found they have been taking money out of my account every month - $495 in total and I have never received an invoice, a receipt, any notifications of products or changes in monthly costs (there were 2 increases in this time line), no correspondence at all. Cancelling is very confusing and there are more steps after you think you have cancelled. Buyer BEWARE.

Marie and I were watching it LIVE, but got to it late...so we were NOT synced up with you...until the "technical difficulties", then we had our own technical difficulties...and lost our internet speeds...so much so that you two would talk for 5 seconds and then the spinner would go for 30 seconds to a minute...then you'd talk for 5 seconds, wash, rinse, repeat. I restarted our router, dumped the cache in the device...and did EVERYTHING I could think of, but had to let it go (at about 75%) and pick it up this morning/midday on Friday. Really enjoyed the conversation. Thanks. Love both your channels.

Great interview!! I love watching how people do booktube because everyone does it so differently. I try to treat my channel more like a business than a hobby, but that’s more so because my brain works that way and if I think it’s a job, I’ll stay more consistent.

Do you have Insta? Also some of my book reviews are on this channel! I have had high expectations because I was watching extremely popular and successful creators and I compare with people easily because of reasons like who I am or what abilities I have or don’t. I found this and decided to join.

Stardust was a miss for me but I've liked a lot of other works by him. I want to revisit Neverwhere next! American Gods is daunting 😅 I've only read Tigana by GGK and thought it was amazing! Unfortunately, all the unnecessary cringey scenes reeeeeally dragged it down for me.

I think I need to reread Spinning Silver. I have been seeing it around lately and it's making me want to read that book and Uprooted. I liked the first couple of books of the Temeraire series better than the rest of the series. I just got a bit too ridiculous for me. I discovered T. Kingfisher last year and have read a lot of her works that I overall enjoyed. I still haven't read the third book in the Gentlemen Bastard series because I don't want it to end! Anyway, cool list! (m)

Ooh, I would definitely join if you did a Crown of Stars readalong! I've heard such great things but it's a little intimidating to me. It is funny when an author starts as a favorite and then your tastes change. I've always been a big Neil Gaiman fan but I haven't read anything from him in a long time so I wonder if my thoughts would change too. And yay T. Kingfisher! Agree completely, I always pick up a book from her when I need an emotional pick me up because I know I'll always have a good time.

I recently read my first fantasy book and I was pleasantly surprised by 3 of the 5 short stories. And I read my second scifi novel, but I dnfed my first scifi novel so I gues that doesn’t count. (Reviews on my channel) Oeh Doctor who meets Sherlock Holmes sounds really good.
