Canadian Pacific 2816: Steaming Across the South
For the very first time in over a decade, Canadian Pacific 2816 returned to the mainline to commemorate the 1 year anniversary of the CPKC merger. The tour originated in Calgary, Alberta and will continue on to Mexico City, Mexico before heading back north. This is the very first time a non UP steam locomotive has traversed the KCS since 2006 and the very first time that 2816 has ever traversed this territory and terrain. Here is my 3 days of chasing 2816 for the very first time with some friends including the display event on Friday. All locations are in chronological order from start to finish.

On October 14th, 2023, I ventured out to Goshen, VA with a buddy of mine for the first time to see N&W 611. This was my first time ever seeing the Queen of Steam in person and chasing it was definitely an experience I'll never forget. This video is a combination of both the 9am and 2:30pm trips that ran from Goshen to Staunton and back.

As in a previous video on my channel, Milwaukee Road 261 fills in for Nickel Plate Road 765 on the annual New River Train from Huntington to Hinton on the weekends of October 15th-16th 1994 and October 22nd-23rd 1994. This was done at my local model train club on Friday. Audio is from Goodheart Productions No. 261 New River Adventure

2 days after my 20th birthday, I went out and caught the 4014 again, but this time in my hometown of Texarkana. I thought about chasing it to Hope, but due to a long delay of a broken rail ahead of the train, the 4014 sat at the station till about 6pm and departed heading to it's overnight stop in Prescott, AR

Running behind schedule, Union Pacific Big Boy #4014 makes it's way into Denton, TX with it's whistle screaming as it blasts through the crossings before stopping at the East Sycamore Street crossing just a little farther down the line. I've been waiting at this crossing since 2:30pm for the train to arrive.

It's amazing that the steam locomotive there can still be alive and operating. There are no steam locomotives in operation in our area. All have become extinct.

The Strasburg-Harrisburg trips were ran in 1985 and the Strasburg-Philadelphia trip was ran in 1986.
It's a damn shame that that Strasburg didn't own those engines and had to retire them when they were due for overhaul 😢😢😢

A furry and a person of good taste. Two very good traits haha. I love the Broadway Limited SP&S 700. I'm just waiting on the day they decide to smush it down for n scale. They'd be the only ones making prototypical PNW steam at that point.

I have the same road number but this is just the regular version with the high number boards. Mine is also in Paragon3 instead of the 4. But overall, it is one beautiful engine. This is one Broadway Limited's best releases.

What a handsome steam engine model, I hope that sometime later on in the future BLI produces these NP/ SP&S class 4-8-4 types in their non-brass/ metal series lineup of steam locomotives so that the pricing will be less expensive for steam locomotive fans. There was an interesting consist of passenger cars on this train ranging from all across the USA.
SP&S 700-702 were essentially the same as Northern Pacific's A3 Baldwins built in the late 1930s.
