    I’m dealing with having to replace this relic right now along with my 20 year old AC condenser. Same set up, no heating just AC. l’m getting quotes of $4k-$6 for the condenser plus another $$3k-$6k to change out the ceiling mounted fan coil. So far two quotes are $9.3k and $10k. Absolute insanity, I had no clue how much this type of set up costs. If you have this definitely keep up the maintenance because you’re on borrowed time and it’s gonna be a fortune to replace.

    So you ran the evacuation pump with the hoses reversed? It pulled from the tank and spit it into the low side of the system? I’ve never seen that before. Well done. So you can pull down to 200 microns with just an evacuation pump? I saw a dedicated vacuum pump there. You didn’t use that? Why do most guys have both then? Did it just take longer? Thanks. Great vid.

      @alexthehandyman3494 Před 2 dny

      Morning Richard, Yes the recovery machine doesn't know what is transferring to. It is a device to transfer refrigerant (recover ) from one place to another. From the condenser through the recovery machine to the tank. In this case is going from the tank through the recovery machine to the condenser. It is important to use dedicated hoses to recover and different hoses to vacuum. Vacuum hoses need to be clean to pull an easier vacuum. Yes the vacuum pulled easily to 200 microns. It took me 5 min. It is important to mention that on the vacuum I used thicker hoses and no restrictions. When using regular 1/4 houses with cores and core depressors it can take easily 20-30 minutes. Thanks you so much for your support!!!

    As a homeowner, it’s a lot of expensive stuff, even though I got my 608 certification so I can take care of my own two R22 old systems. Each appion is $70, the recovery machine is $500 to $1000, the scale, the recovery tank, the turbo torch and tanks, vacuum pump, even the large vacuum hoses are $60 each. Forget about something like a digital manifold. Big initial investment! That’s before the refrigerant! I spent almost $800 for 30# of R22. Thanks for sharing your knowledge- I should have gone into HVAC. I find it interesting. But you do it all.

      @@alexthehandyman3494 it almost makes sense, since r22 is so expensive if I call someone. So my house was built in 89. We’ve lived in it 13 years. I have two original Armstrong air R22 units and my original peerless oil boiler. I service them all. The AC I’ve never let anyone touch, since it’s so old and has worked fine. I’ve never even put gauges on it. A few capacitors over the years, a condenser fan or two, and maybe an air handler transformer. About 5 years ago I bought 5# of R22 on eBay. Last summer for the first time ever it wasn’t blowing cold. I studied and took and passed the 608 universal so I could check the pressure and add the refrigerant myself. Small leak in one of the schrader valves on the high side. I added some r22 until the superheat was where it should be (piston), but didn’t change the core yet. I bought 2 of the valve stem removers but I’m afraid since the nylog I put on it seemed to stop the leak. It’s been fine this year after sitting all winter. Plus, I wanted to buy some more r22 just in case. The reality is where I live if anyone came to my house to do any service on the AC, I’d be left with a bill for 50k to replace both units. I love .r22 and the piston. Don’t want to change it unless I must. Thanks for the videos. I always learn a lot. Edit. Oh, and I already had to change the condensate pan in my attic once. It was rusted through. I did it without pumping down my system. If it ever happens again, I will have options, and maybe do it the right way, recover, fix and recharge. Couldn’t do that last time.

      Hello, yes. it was cement. The toilet had a leak for a long time and destroyed the floor around the flange. So I repaired it before I installed the new toilet. If your toilet rocks a little bit and your floor is kind of ok you can shim it. Any hardware store sales toilet plastic shims. www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-Plastic-Toilet-Shims-4-Pack-88523/205172157?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&mtc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D26P-026_007_PLUMB_REPAIR-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NEW-PMax&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D26P-026_007_PLUMB_REPAIR-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NEW-PMax-71700000097492033--&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwuJ2xBhA3EiwAMVjkVP9OV6nBKhvSj4sYHM8caqnzzNNyI_6cAyDW0x2OAHXtd0X2DoT6yRoCpecQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

    I'm confused as to why the concrete looks like a tube. When I built a fence my holes were dug out into a bell like shape, I set my posts and then the concrete went around them. So if you ever tried to dig them out the post would be encased in concrete.

      Hello, that's because the installer used a narrow post digger . The hole is not that big and the cement surrounds the post just a couple inches all the way around.www.homedepot.com/p/Anvil-47-in-L-Wood-Handle-Steel-Post-Hole-Digger-77568-948/313597426?source=shoppingads&locale=en-US&pla&mtc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D28I-028_011_TOOLS-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-PMAX&cm_mmc=SHOPPING-BF-CDP-GGL-D28I-028_011_TOOLS-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-NA-NA-NA-NA-NBR-NA-NA-NA-PMAX-71700000112731967--&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwuJ2xBhA3EiwAMVjkVIB8BMT2wwTr7MMtYKmqLmy85GEe9U5X59Ok8LyRFjgRjDLn04igAhoCZL0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
