Use it Sparingly, these gears and that rear axel eats through fluid like a thirsty camel.
Do you have a link for the downpipe
I have a 16 2.7 should it sound just about identical?
Can’t say for sure but from all the sound clips I’ve seen they seem to be very close. I would recommend keeping catted dp as to not throw CEL.
Sounds good!! Sounds pissed off!!!
Wow thought only the spd super expensive exhaust could sound good but I love this
Hate to say it but stock muffler is the way to go on these motors. I’ve heard all of them out there and this motor was made to stay quiet.
Sounds great!
How did you get 5” tip on stock exhaust?
The tip is 5” but the other end that attaches to stock exhaust pipe is 3”. I got it off ebay for like $30.
Slow
Nobody cares about That truck please delete this😂🤔
That’s why that check engine light is on 😂 good video bro good sh%t
Sucks cant get the whistle from the 18😢
I’ll trade you turbo noise for the 10sd 😆
I have 2015 ecoboost platinum sitting in my driveway. It's the only way these trucks can't break down. Why do I say that? Just got soaked for $5500 in a single repair bill. My piece of garbage has only been seen on time on schedule at the same dealership. Mine is fully loaded: Leather heated seats, sprayed bed liner, roll and lock bed cover, cameras all around. Ironically it also has an extended gas tank. Sad cause these piles only get 14 miles to the gallon. That highly bragged about aluminum body won't protect you or your family from a drunk angry squirrel. Didn't know I had a lemon on my hands until the dealership couldn't explain how routine maintenance all of sudden costs $5500. I drive my wife's old station wagon. Save your save a ton of cash and buy a GMC, Dodge, Chevy or ride the bus.
I know it wasn’t your intention but that post made me lol. Sorry to hear of your troubles bud, I’m in the same boat with 75K mi. What were your repairs? Ironically, I got mine back yesterday from dealer after repairing warped and cracked driver exhaust manifold and a rear end that was cannibalizing itself. I was worried it was going to be the turbo but @ $1800 I’m not sure I faired much better with the deformed exhaust manifold. The service manager at dealership says he’s changed quite a few on the ecoboosts. Next came the rear end. So a year ago I bought a set of $1400 nitto ridge grapplers (install, balance, nitro filled) for the truck being touted as the best performing/riding all terrain tire but shortly after install they became incredibly noisy around 40-50mph. I felt like a jerk off spending all that money on tires that sounded like they cost $500. Low and behold, it was the rear end all along making the noise, not the tires. Now I’m hard on my trucks (see other vids lol) but never have I or the service manage heard of a rear end going out at 75K mi. This was another $1800. Why stop there? In 2017 with waround 25K mi my throttle body malfunctioned and the truck would go into limp mode upon trying to accelerate past 2500K rpm. $650 repair but truck was still under warranty. In 2018 the panoramic roof leaked and flooded front interior after a heavy rain storm. In 2020 while deep in the Smoky Mountains she cracked a spark plug and I had to drive a whole day on a dead cylinder. That was fun diagnosing way out there but an easy fix. In 2021 the rear power sliding window track came unglued and window fell into truck. It’s now gorilla glued. All that said, I still love this truck. Perhaps I’m just a sadist who enjoys the abuse. Looking back, I knew better than to buy the first year of a new model but originally got a great deal on it. If I get another 3yrs & 50K mi out of her with no major issues I’ll stick by it being a great deal. Stay tuned. 😬
Almost forgot, she ate up her tie rods around 50K mi lol. Replaced with Moog for a total cost of $400.
Update. Torque converter is causing some hefty vibration under high load / low rpm, as when truck is on an incline like going up a bridge. Ford wants $3600 to repair it. 😊
I gotta 13 and drive mine like a stole it sometimes and it’s never even made even a grunt. If I get cam phaser noise I use motor medic engine flush and I’m good to go. Went 20k miles and haven’t had the start up rattle again. Absolutely love this truck. It’s a 13 platinum
@@AD-dw6cbso take ur drive shaft off. Undo the wire and lines from the transmission. Take the bell housing bolts off and slide the transmission off and get a new torque converter put on.
What size of tires and leveling kit are you running bro??
What size of tires and leveling kit are you running bro??
The catless dp really gives you a good turbo whir!
Is there a difference in doing this in AWD as opposed to 4WD?
AWD and 4WD is the same thing. All wheel drive and 4 wheel drive. All as in ALL 4 Tires | 4 Wheel drive as in ALL 4 tires.
@@2jz954 Well, I only ask because the knob gives you two options. There's AWD, 4H, and 4L.
@@trenttrammell3620 Ahh ok so awd is just your normal driving 4 high and 4 low are off road use
@@2jz954 they are not the same thing. They are similar concepts but different applications. 4WD means it’s a option you can select in your vehicle. is found in pickup trucks and SUVs that are capable of off road driving. AWD can be found in any sedan/coupe/ smaller size suvs and they stay AWD, can’t switch it to anything else. In your case you have 4A which means 4 Auto. I have a 2022 platinum and it has 2WD, 4A, 4Hi , 4 LO Ther are the only drive selects in your truck. For a launch I recommend 4A.
That hoe sounds clean af
How’s the reliability been? I’m looking into a 2015 with the 3.5 but keep hearing horror stories about timing chain stretch and failure.
75K mi zero issues. Ran it pretty hard on MPT’s 93 PRX tune for about 50K mi. Have been on MPT 87 PERF/ECON for past year or so and don’t think I’ll go back to a 93 “race” tune - plenty power on 87.
@@AD-dw6cb that’s awesome to hear
That said, I would certainly have the truck inspected top to bottom and would NOT buy an ecoboost that has been tuned in any capacity. If you do go through with purchase order a catch can for it asap.
@@AD-dw6cb The truck I’m looking at hasn’t been tuned as far as I know. It just has an aftermarket exhaust and headlights. It’s got 130,000 miles on it. I’d get it looked over before purchasing 100%
Idk why it sounds this loud in this vid, mine is catless with ams adapters and stock muffler and it’s quiet as hell. Before I went catless I had it dumped off the cat and it was a good exhaust note
I suspect two reasons, first and most important this vid was recorded in my driveway in between my and my neighbor’s house creating somewhat of an echo effect. Second is MPT’s 93 PRX tune which I haven’t been able to afford to run in 2 years. The exhaust notes were a bit more aggressive and throaty on that tune.
What year is your truck ?
No codes not having cats? Best sounding 3.5 I’ve heard!!
Extreme off roading? There is absolutely nothing extreme about that. It was a small grass hill. To be honest you didn’t even need 4WD for that hill. I’ve climbed worse in my F150 in 2wd. What a joke.
It was sarcasm, David. You tried really hard though. A+ effort.
Hey man, this sounds awesome. How did you get by the o2 sensors with this set up?
Turbos sound good but the rest not so much. I have an '13 but won't touch the exhaust for this very reason. Truck looks great!
I totally understand. I kept the stock muffler which really does keep exhaust notes down and there’s zero drone in cab but I agree these motors were built to remain quiet.
I love the sound of a loud V-8. I've owned several mustangs in the past. I gotta tell you though I really enjoy the quietness of the ecoboost.
If this is extreme off-roading then Jeffrey Epstein killed himself. Beautiful truck though.
LOL yeah, I’m goofing.
I love doing this to TRXs
Sounds good 👍🇺🇸
Does exhaust smell bad?
Cooler weather or a little breeze, not terrible. Idle in warmer weather with no breeze, horrible lol.
what suspension kit do you have?
Beautiful truck 🛻
Leveling kit and tire size?
1.5” spacer up front with Bilstein 5100 adjustable shocks set to +1.5” and 2.5” blocks in rear (stock blocks were 1.75”) Ridge Grappler 285/65/20 but now on Ridge Grappler 305/50/20. Lost about 1” ride height but saved 14lbs rotating mass.
Man I wish I could find catless down pipes. Can’t find em anywhere. Also did you ever get the o2 sensor bypassed? Or still have a light? And if so is it just a light or does it go into limp mode?
Still have CEL. No performance issues though. Go catted dp if you have the $$. Power loss is negligible but you won’t have CEL and won’t get knocked out by the smell of unburnt fuel.
@@AD-dw6cb oh the smell won’t bother me. I’m trying to go turbo upgrade, and catless is best for 500+
@@Yung_Hefty Watch out going over 22 PSI with stock internals.
@@slowfudgeballs9517 not worried about it. 1) I don’t have a 3.5 I have a 2.7L. And I hit 28 rn
@@Yung_Hefty Ah
Who tuned the truck for catless?
No one that I know of. Ran MPT’s 93 PRX tune for about 50K mi with no performance issues but CEL on. Bummer because you lose remote start feature. Been on SCT’s canned 87 tune for past few months due to fuel prices. Would recommend a catted downpipe for anyone in the market. CEL on is one thing, the smell of unburnt fuel is another..
do you have a check engine light? and if not how did you get rid of it
Unfortunately Nick, I’ve had a CEL on for the better part of 3yrs now. I’ve tried a number of O2 sensor adapters/extensions such as the 90 degree elbows but to no avail, CEL always returns in time. My advice to everyone running 93-87 octane is to go with a catted downpipe to reduce the risk of this issue as well as intolerable exhaust fumes. Power gains from catless dp are negligible anyway. If anyone reading knows a solution to clearing CEL from a catless downpipe on the 3.5 ecoboost I’d greatly appreciate any suggestions.
@@AD-dw6cb Thanks man, I’ve already purchased my catless downpipes along with o2 sensor extensions. I’m getting them installed tomorrow. I also got my re-tune for my downpipes. Hopefully I don’t get SEL but we will see.
Is this with stock muffler?
Yes
I love the sound! Whats the exhaust setup, sir?
Thanks! SPD turbo adapters, aFe stainless catless downpipe, resonator delete, stock muffler, 5” tip with stock pipe cut back 8” (creates a slight megaphone effect)
Nice Truck!
Nice Truck!
Looking at the same truck, year and everything can anything to look out for? 80k miles
Make sure it’s stock lol. I wouldn’t buy one that has spent its life on a hot tune. Also, the front brakes tend to wear a bit uneven on the 15-17. I run slightly oversized tires but even so at 60K mi my front rotors were worn down. Other than that have a certified mechanic take a look at it. All in all it’s been a great truck. Just hit 72K mi no major issues. Put a catch can on it asap if you do buy it.
@@AD-dw6cb thanks so much for the reply man, it’s actually in an auction right now and I have a friend who goes and buys them looking at it, he’s also owns a mechanic shop so he said it checks out, just get nervous buying an older truck with 80k miles, but a 2015 with only 80k is a barely driven truck
@@AD-dw6cb what do you think it’s worth? 2015 platinum 80k miles?
@@vanillathunder8112 Some variation due to location and options but according to Kelly Blue Book average value for that year, make & model truck in “very good” condition is between $32-37K. Then again there’s a used vehicle shortage right now so it could be worth on the high end of that estimate or even more to the right buyer. There are vids on youtube of 200K mi motor tear down of the 3.5L ecoboost that were still running great and holding compression. They do get very dirty internally from “blow by” due to not running a catch can. You could probably save $10K and go with a well equipped XLT package if you’re not keen on all the options that come on the Platinum. The decision is yours.
@@AD-dw6cb yeah it just sold for 36k at the auction I didn’t get it, so I’m honestly just trying to find something with low miles at this point
Not catless just resonator and muffler delete
Took a break from truck mods for a bit but if I could go back I would go catted dp. Power loss is negligible but smell is tolerable lol.
Sounds good
Sounds great👌🏾😎😍
What mods?
Just typical bolt ons and tune
Love it man!!! Great sound.
do u have a link to ur down pipe?
When you went to the catless downpipes did it throw codes for emissions?
song you was playing is badass homie
What tire size you running? Looks good
nice looking truck
