Welcome to Rons Place.
This was a channel created initially to simply create a few build videos to help my daughter build a Tronxy x1. She is in the military and over seas; so it was a way to enjoy the hobby together (while a world away).
It has somehow started to grow; and I really enjoy sharing my hobby. As long as it is found interesting I suppose I’ll keep sharing :)

But is there layer height or bed leveling? Looks like nozzle was to close to bed.
and you did it very good showdown. good for alot of people that is having douts.
hola, ¿qué tipo de filamento usó?
I appreciated the filming - super easy to see, well done!
This is great work. I wish I found this video yesterday as I spent all day figuring it out. Really great advise and a must see before you waste time and filament. Thanks for your efforts.
I did some tests too: Repetier prints 5 times faster on my Raspberry 1b - in fact without any lags. Octoprint is a Python software, which means, everything has to be interpreted first, which slows it incredibly down. On my system Octoprint fails after 30 hours printing and has to be restarted everytime. Repetier prints since on week without failures. I'm using the free Repetier server version 1.4.10 without camera. A camera is not really required for me, because the printer is right to the left of my workplace. A printer controller is required for me, because I often have to restart my PC to change between Windows and Linux.
It was very cool
Solved it thanx to you sir
The design is fine. It may be much stronger and not so hard to make it out of steel instead of plastic, no? Only the connection between the thread rod end and the jaw would be tricky, requiring some angle grinding and deposit of steel through welding
That's really good.
At .25 layer height how does your layer lines turn out? I’ve heard they’re pretty noticeable but haven’t personally tried yet
The Perfect Layer is the layer that works for you, excellent video well explained
Don’t know if you are still looking at your comments, but I agreed that the glass with the system is too heavy. I installed exactly like you did directly to the sled, but now my z-offset won’t go low enough. The wheels on the gantry hit the mounting bracket before the nozzle will get low enough. I’m thinking only option is to get longer leveling screws and pair springs with spacers so I can get the bed high enough with room to adjust for level. Any ideas?
Thank you for this video. I'm having so much trouble with my prusa.
I am still learning to get that perfect first layer Z height. I am getting the hang of it but inconsistencies in my Prusa Mini’s bed make it a headache. I can get perfectly squished layers in the middle/front and then be too far away in the rear. Lesson learned, build a Voron next time instead of overpaying for a Prusa.
thank you ! so useful by learning this! jack lam from hong kong
Liked and subbed.
at the beginning under Network your IP is visible should avoid that in the future
Thanks, that's really informative.
Very well done!
No words...breath taking views....so majestic and beautiful.
Ron....its beautiful! Haven't heard from you in a long minute. I need to talk with you about something important. Your good friend from VA Beach is on borrowed time. Reach out to me please.
So the 0.25 how can I get this hight between the nozzle and the bed please like how can I test it so it matches 0.25 thank you
Very insightful and still relevant. Great to see those macro shots, very well done.
Opened my eyes, I’ve been too far off the bed, thanks 🙏 really appreciate it
great visual, you should rename video to " Layer Height comparison 3D prints compared" and probably get more hits. This is very useful
Great video. I just got my first 3d printer and I’ve been experiencing a lot of issues with the first layer adhering to the bed. Constant readjustments and a lot of frustration, but I think I finally understand. Being that it is my first 3d printing experience I went into bare bones and went with the sticky note method of bed leveling, but I guess I just need to invest in feeler gauges to set a proper bed height. I could get the bed set reasonably with a sticky note but it was a crap shoot if the first layer would stick and I think improper bed height has bren the cause all along. For days I’ve been watching videos trying to figure this out but this example is the best of all. Thanks.
This was helpful. I've been struggling just to lay down a first layer and I noticed the things I've been seeing on my nozzle happen on yours as well.
the thing i hate about the app is you can only use it with an apple pencil and it's impossible to use without one
Hey buddy! It's nice to see your channel has grown since we last talked! I'm happy for you! Yes....its me..your friend and blast from the past from VA. Beach! Hope you and the girls are doing well.
@allison story Allegedly he has passed away.
@@iheart3dprinting951 When?....I never heard about his passing...????....omg...I can't believe this...
@@allisonstory6012 I read some of the comments saying RIP. All his social media stopped around the same time he stopped uploading. I can't confirm he is no longer with us but I check back every so often and now its been years with no activity.
@@iheart3dprinting951 I'm truly heartbroken over this. He was in the Navy and I met him when I was 18yrs old when he was stationed in Virginia. Perfect. Those pictures in manuals of filament side profiles would be helpful…..if we were looking at it with 20x zoom
Oh my gosh this helps! I have been going crazy on my sticking issues... my first layer was set at .35
OK, so where is the comparison? You pretty much covered Octoprint and stopped???
That was very helpful. Thanks
Which camera did you use to capture footage of the nozzle? I'm curious enough to try this out in both my Prusa and Ender.
Hello Ron, if you still get notified regarding these comments, could you please let us know what camera you used and any other info would be appreciated.
did you use igus bearings with igus rods ?
Amazing video you and mike put together it helped a lot Thanks!!!!
Awesome video!!! Thx 4 sharing!

Has he passed?
This really helped me figure out what I was doing wrong in getting my ender 3 pro set up and printing.
great video! now I understand what is layer height
well it depend on the flow rate. this one was set to slow abit? There is a calculation for this.
That was EXCELLENT! Very will done. Thank you both!
Why am I just seeing this now a year into this hobby?!?!? Excellent 👌🏽👌🏽
The nozzle cam is fantastic. I'm trying to set up something like this but not sure how.
ive watched all kinds of tutorials and havent gotten my printer tuned in but i watched this and 2 hours later ive eliminated all the problems i was having. its so hard to see in other videos exactly what their layer looks like. i can see my prints as up close as you filmed and that helped tremendously!
thank you!Very well explained and great photography!
