This is the 3rd video I've watched on this and it's the first one that drew a clear distinction on appropriate application. Hiza when he sinks low, susae when he gets high.
Mahalo for the demo! Kesa gatame is my go to. That was the very first pin I learned in high school. Very powerful attacks from that simple position. Works so well against the non-judo grapplers !😎
This was an awesome attack from turtle. I didn't anticipate it at all.
Most informative Judo video I’ve watched so far! Thank you.
At 3:57, why is uke giving you his foot ? This is not aikido ! 🙄
Really really bad demonstration. There is NO hip bump in koshi guruma and uke should be loaded on your hip like in o goshi, not on the side of your hip like in uki goshi. Bad judo !
as a person with CP, these are amazing thank you very much. People on reddit say that grappling from the knees is useless, but they never think about people with disabilites.
This is a really cool thought provoking video. Thank you for sharing!
much respect to you for sharing the knowledge and shout out to mick foley for appearing in this vid with you
damn dude u dropping knowledge bombs here
Good job. Thanks.
This is awesome. What were the judo names of these techniques?
I'm 29 but I'm a lazy boy great stuff
Dude needs to wash his feet
Great demonstration!
lol going to be akido soon
Surprisingly VERY GOOD!! I was not sure what to expect but this was VERY WELL DONE gentlemen!!!
ty
These are great.Thx.
Are those guard pulls a joke?
Great stuff
Great techniques! Thanks.
This would help older guys get started with Judo 👍
wow !! minimal effort Judo 👍
❤verry nice
More escapes
Great to see these moves done by normal looking people. Definitely explained stuff really well.
awesome demo guys congratulations for BLACK belt Brandon 🥋🥋 Bravo! Well done 🥇🥇 You've gained some weight try low carb diet or ketogenic diet (keto) sad to see how young man gain weight no offence 😁😁💪💪
He's been bulking up. The weight gain is all muscle.
ha ha 😁😁@@SeiryokuZenyo
Thanks. I'm going to study this carefully.
Came here only to discover I'm a complete white belt in newaza. But then again what do you expect my club only teaches submissions not necessarily how to get into a dominant position to set them up.
there is a variation in which you squeeze the tips of the jawbone, especially if he defends by tucking his chin...my father showed me 30 yrs ago and its awfully painful
It's also illegal in judo since you are not allowed to touch any part of the face. But it certainly works in BJJ although your partner might never roll with you again. 😆
Absolute gold, as are all your videos! You love the art and it shows, thanks for sharing your knowledge and expertise
Great Video. A true gem for someone like me who cross competes in both Judo and BJJ.
Awesome to know even for little younger people
I like this video because it's not just about technique it's teaching principles as well
Yama arashi is te waza according to kodokan
It seems to me rather an arbitrary categorization. There are many versions of the throw, and even in the Kodokan descriptions, it refers to it as using a leg sweep.
Worst throw for uke by far haha
Thank you for sharing this. I will take a solid Kesa over mount or nearly any other position. Absolute worst place to find yourself if someone knows how to work it.

Excellent video. Thank you so much!
these are some excellent videos -- so many details -- and I love how you explain what's good for judo and what's good for bjj
😂😂😂
O Μωρος γελαει
This feels like traditional Japanese ju jutsu! Thanks for the trip down memory lane
great video
What do you think of sode guruma jime from inside the guard?
Generally your opponent can push you away with his legs, and unless you have a phenomenal weight and strength advantage, you won't be able to keep the position to finish. If you can successfully control the back of your opponent's head and bend him forwards, you might be able to pull it off, but he will probably flip you into a mount before you can finish the choke. So it's a very low percentage move. If you ARE able to get your arm around the back of his head, then you're better off going for a pressure pass. Once you've passed the guard, then sode guruma jime is a natural finish.
Probably Indians from India.
Simply eye-opening! Thank you for sharing!
Very dominant
Greetings from Brazil, sensei! I wish you health and many years of life. Your teaching is the best.
Very instructive thanks
