The worst era of Chrysler. This was during the Colbert - Newberg scandal. It also involved Jack Ruby's attorney Sol Dann who was the largest shareholder, went after Chrysler executives in '63 at a board meeting for mismanagement, shotty build quality, high operating costs and low sales. Apparently cars were rusting on dealer lots, components failing before cars even took delivery. Newberg was apparently arrested for assaulting Colbert at a country club. The scandal wasn't resolved until the early 70s.

I had been looking at buying one of these with the free floating headlights. This is a fine example. Finding room indoors now would be a challenge as I picked up a couple of modern ponies. Having done chrome polishing and prep work I notice that most if not all the chrome needs work. Even if it is to be kept as a survivor I would "fix" that and man that has a lot of chrome! I checked out the photos online and even under the car looks decent. I suspect you will sell this fairly quick. Had I seen this 5-6 years ago it would be mine. Good Luck with it and I am going to look at the photos once again . I really do think she is a beauty!

  • @alessandracarlotti4136

You mention that the A/C needs to be "tended to" (poor grammar) by the next owner?? For $ 24,000 , it is YOUR responsibility to "tend to" the AC !! PLEASE!!! My family have been Chrysler Corp. dealers since 1946. I am now the 4th generation. We know our facts.

  • @alessandracarlotti4136

Why do you refer to it a "LeBaron CROWN " ???? It is a LEBARON..NOT a Crown !! Do you boys do any research before you produce these videos?? My family has been Chrysler Corp. dealers for 80 years. I grew up with these vehicles. I'm only a 30-year-old girl, but I know my facts!!

  • @alessandracarlotti4136

Imperial was a stand-alone marque from 1955 onward. Unfortunately many so-called "dealers" on youtube continue to refer to them as "Chrysler" Imperials. That is incorrect and it's high time that you boys who claim to be in the "car business" learn the facts.

Absolutely outrageous but still gorgeous vintage Chrysler. But, there’s no arguing that Stellantis has started to kill Chrysler off with their recent announcement of a 30% reduction across the board Of employees, real estate, and who the hell knows what else! Chrysler itself probably be extinct in the next year. 💔😵😭

This is a gorgeous car. One of the details I like from this vintage is the wild script logo. There are details such as the shape of the roofline and rear windows that can be seen in Mopar C bodies through the 60s and 70s. It’s disappointing that the Imperial marque wasn’t able to last, and more so that Chrysler might not have much longer either.

It's so strange It's beautiful. I love the headlights, the hardtop design, just all of it. But my favorite part would have to be the steering wheel and instrument cluster. I would love to be able to drive around looking at that. Just awesome. The only thing I don't like is the leather seats. I don't like leather seats. They're just not comfortable. I don't understand why everyone wants leather seats. In the days of chauffeur driven cars. The driver had a leather seat. But the passengers rode in comfort with cloth seats.

Great price for a beautiful automobile. I came so close to owning a 1963 Imperial with only 58,000 miles on it, almost identical to this one in cream color, way back in 1977. It would have been my first car. The lady who owned it, saw my enthusiasm as a young 16 year old and offered me the car for $1800.00!!! I gave her a $250.00 down payment to reserve it for me with intent to buy it. Her husband was out of town and had to wait for him to come back. Much to my disappointment, the husband contacted me and said he had already promised it to a business associate while on his business trip. Unknown to his wife. I was heart-broken. He sent me my $250 back. I wanted that car so badly. I still love this body style out of all of the Exner designs of the late 50s and early 60s period. These cars are superior to Cadillac in every way. I judge the Lincoln's on par with the Imperial.

As elegant as the Green Hornet Imperials of '64-'66 are, this model is just stunning. I'm curious, however: was the "toilet seat" faux spare tire hump on the trunk an option? The car looks so much better without it. Also, the contrast between that huge wrap-around windshield and the small back window is incredible! This beauty will go fast.

    • @MarkWG

Heck, even Chrysler couldn’t get it straight, calling it first a Chrysler Imperial, then just Imperial, then Imperial by Chrysler. Print ads in the early ‘70s also went back to the Chrysler Imperial nomenclature, and TV ads in 1974-75 lumped Imperials with the lower Chrysler models. It’s a Chrysler.
