I had this car in high school in the 90s. Unfortunately, i wasn't very nice to it. It was extremely fun to drive. I've not owned a little car since. What a great time it was to be alive!
I had a laser in the same color, 5 speed but a 1.8 liter. It was and still is my favorite car. It was so fun to drive and so many wonderful memories. I wish I would have seen this earlier, I would have bought it!!
Omg yes, I had a 1991 White Laser, 5 speed manual transmission, DOHC, super nice and zippy, I loved that car and the timing belt tore when i was 8 months pregnant with my first son and it was at 71,000 miles, a thousand over warranty. I bought it from a local dealer brand new and my family had bought several cars from him. So he went to bat for me with the regional manager, and explained i would be off on maternity leave so they paid to fix it when the timing belt tore and the car just quit at about 50 mph, i was only a few miles from home. I still miss that car 😂 it was the only one i ordered brand new, exactly how i wanted it.
Thanks for the video. I had a 1990 white rs in 1994. Really liked it hate I sold it. I just remembered the car was fully loaded but it had the 16 inch wheels with Goodyear tires and hubcaps.
I had a brand new 1991 White Laser, manual transmission that I ordered and I loved that car. 😂 Takes me back, it was so much fun to drive on dry roads, they stuck like glue around corners. I used to speed up lol.
I'm a collector of 1980s/90s Japanese and German cars. This dealer does a magnificent job of presenting this beauty and I'm impresssed that they've done the belts and other maintenance items. Others sell cars with little done which is a turn off to many buyers who anticipate further dollars on maintenance past due. I share his excitement for this find! Wonder if the original owner saved the OEM radio. I know of shops that repair them. Beautifully detailed engine.
6/22/24 I have a 1990 Eagle Talon with an original OEM radio that died on me when I was using a tire infiltrator that killed the OEM radio, where is it that I could get it repaired, ended up getting another mid level Talon with equalizer off E-bay to replace it.
My neighbor's wife had a red one, I think this was around 1994...? Anywho, we asked about it one day, having noticed it, and she got EXCITED. In her thick Connecticut accent: "Oh it's a lazahhh!!! It's lazahhhh!!! And would you know it?? It's LAZAH RED like those LAZAHS you see at Walmart!!!!! I've never said "laser" normally since. It's a LAZAH!!!
Just saw one at a junkyard today and it was a dark blue 1990 RS and was the first time I ever seen one of that body style with 106,000 mi on it and luckily the car has been mostly stripped down but it's still sad that it was going to be lost in the history books and I still have yet to see the first gen eclipse and talon.
Here is the Motorweek review and they actually prefer the NA (Normally Aspirated) version. Oh man, I so wanted these when they were new but alas, my post college priorities were rent and food! czcams.com/video/kwNuK6pavxQ/video.htmlsi=Vz5XJBXiz-ZMFCDG

There is something unsettling in realization that Plymouth in late 80 offered a modern, cutting-edge sports car.
Underrated sibling of the Mitsubishi Eclipse and Eagle Talon, great video
Thanks!
