I was working a booth in the exhibit hall doing demos and there were a number of times where I struggled to maintain my train of thought because of the noise. It certainly was packed.
Thank you for the video.
cascadia you just spend too much time doing the same thing over and over - I regret getting it
I love Loot Dispute, Jeffrey D Allers is fantastic. I like the place a dice take a die woker placement of Forges.
@@jamesbrazeal3847 Agreed about Jeff! Hoping I agree about Loot Dispute, too!
I've always heard the being on time saying as, "early is on time, on time is late, and late is unacceptable".
Same sentiment! Thanks for being here!
awesome game.
Congrats Sarah. 🎉
Awesome. Thank you for the playthrough.
AH I love Twilight Struggle. Great one for the list you are missing out.
You telling me you're not counting Atlantis!? You can point to that on the globe 😆
Eh, just do a top 11, so that the 3 way tie for 9 & 10 doesn't cut #11. Call it an honorable mention, if you must.
Congrats! Will be waiting for the top 10!
So creative! Maybe you can use gesso to seal the foam before spray painting?
It's supposed to be top 5 city building games but sam just lists 5 games that he likes and jt just lists games hes played that you build cities in....lol. love the new channel sam...just got here a few weeks ago.
Sams like....ti4 I'm sure when you take over a planet you build a few cities
Do your top 5s of sams very first top 100 or something similar
Or top 5 games you can't believe we're on his first top 100
@@escapeartist205 Thanks for being here! These are our top 5 city building games, for sure! We just had different interpretations, which is okay in our opinion.
Looks awesome.
Thank you for sharing your first impressions of this game.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing.
No Red Raven Games? Im calling the police
@@phillipstone3116 lol! I really respect the heck out of Ryan Laukat…the man is amazing.
That is such a great event for the community! Love it, Sam.
Only a 3 hour drive away... hmm. That is a nice-looking church, BTW.
Brian! The best dude.
Les is the man! He's the King of Boardgame Bling!
@@e.r.burgess1498 totally agree!!
You guys didn’t mention it, but is there a dumby player in 2 player games? I notice the yellow track. Did you like having that? Did it detract from the game at all?
@@Strandvideo It was a bit disappointing because it just happened that the randomly chosen AI for that particular game and where it started didn’t really have much of an effect on us. But still looking forward to more plays!
Great video! Looking forward to more.
Pretty impressive!
I might be wrong, because i didn't back it in the end, but your copy should be the KS edition with the shaped resources. Retail edition is cubes. AFAIk
Ultraboard so much better then foamcore, you have saved me some warping headaches with that :D Thx for making this I love how you go into the different types of things I had just picked up some terrane off of Etsy last month. I bet you could paint on some XTC-3D to protect the foam, it's an epoxy used to smooth out layers in FDM prints, hopefully it wouldn't melt the foam to
I just received my Kickstarter copy last week but it will be a long wait before playing my copy. The rules seem simple but the decision space is tough. Reviews I see say the same thing: early “bad” choices nerf your entire game which impacts the fun factor. Hoping to see your thoughts after a few more plays.
Love this video! Would love to see more of this on the channel. I enjoy crafting stuff for my games and am always looking for new ideas and methods.
Thanks and please post your work!!
Grear session with the boys & girls! ❤ Maybe worthwhile to consider a more frequently occuring serie…
Thank you for the video.
Have the best time at GenCon Sam. Not sure if you have got my e-mail- once again thank you for the package.
@@thewoopsik I did get the email, Woop! Glad you are pleased with it! We appreciate you!
Thank you for the great continuation, Sam and JT! :D I would sneak in Vindication and Lost Ruins of Arnak for more Euro exploration ... Also really do like Unsettled. Orange Nebula just announced two new planets :)
Thank you for the playthrough.
Thanks for being here, Woop!
Thank you for the playthrough.
You're welcome, Woop!
I had no idea I liked exploration games this much. 1: Mage Knight. My #1 game of all time. 2: Lord of the Rings: Journeys in Middle Earth. My #2 game of all time. 3: War of the Ring: The Card Game. My #3 game of all time, it might sound like shoe horning it in, but you don't know where you're going to go before you get there. 4: Nemesis. 5: Destinies. 6: Star Wars: The Outer Rim. 7: ISS Vanguard. 8: Auztralia I might be shoe horning this in a bit. I blame BGG describing this as an exploration game. 9: The 7th Citadel I need to play this more. 10: Lost Ruins of Arnak If any of the above 10 are invalid, bump up Earthbourne Rangers to 10. If I could get some of the other games you guys mentioned to the table, I'm sure I'd enjoy them.
TRIPLE layer boards! Now that got my attention.
@@myname-ns1rp lol!
@@myname-ns1rp yeah, the player boards are double-sided and each side will be double-layered.
Hope to see ya and say hi to you at GenCon.
Beautiful tribute for your grandfather Sam. It brought back memories of my Pap's funeral, who was also a veteran (WWII) and received a 21 gun salue for his time in the Army. Thank you for sharing this video! ❤
I heard Survivor contestants poop in the ocean so… Sam is right.
@@Strandvideo …vindication…
Figures, I miss a poop conversation! My contribution: While working, I once ran my hose through fresh dog poop, and didn't realize it until I reeled up the hose. It got all over my glove and the side of my shirt and pants. It wasn't a pleasant experience.
@@VanessaG1229 lol!
Great selections, Sam and JT!!
One I would have considered for my top ten but ultimately would not have made it is "Dungeon Quest". It comes out about every 2 yrs or so, but everytime enjoy and laugh so much.
3 out of 10 on JT”s list are Polish games! Soooo cool. Thank you for sharing.
Very nice!!
Tough category depending on how you interpret "exploration". Searching different locations for items in "Dead of Winter" was one of the first first games to come to mind. "Arctic Scavengers" is still on the shelf of shame but I suspect it has the same sense of exploration in the context of searching for something. Then I thought of games where you explore by building a map and "Eclipse: Second Dawn for the Galaxy" came to mind (never pulled the trigger on TI4 due to the time commitment). For a big space game in a small box, there is also "Impulse" by Carl Chudyk. "Inis" is excellent and I also thought of it when considering games where you build the board as you play, but to me it doesn't feel like exploration. It's more like placing tiles as in Carcassonne or Takenoko. I think it would feel more like exploration if all the land tiles were randomly laid out upside down and exploring just meant flipping the tiles to discover what was there without choosing where to place it. I also thought of "Descent" but it's been too long since I've played it. More recently, I've played "Claustrophobia" and it is a really fun dungeon crawler with a map that expands during play. "Dead Men Tell No Tales" is an excellent and thematic game where, as pirates, you cooperatively explore a burning ghost ship in an attempt to avoid skeletons and find treasure and escape before the powder kegs blow up and sink the ship. "Incan Gold" is a fun and interesting choice and opens up the category to all games where you explore through a deck of cards. "The Isle of Doctor Necreaux" is too punishing to recommend, but definitely captures the spirit of exploring by delving through a deck of cards. "Cartaventura: Vinland" is a decent choose your own adventure exploration in a single a deck of cards game. However, I think JT nailed it with "Unsettled". "Unsettled" would be my top pick for this category with "Dead Men Tell No Tales" and "Claustrophobia" in 2nd and 3rd place.
Unsettled is a great exploration game! Thanks, David!
Great list and post. Thanks
JT. Totally agree with ISS Vanguard. We recently had our first crew deaths, but what a fun play experience.
Star Trek Ascendancy
Great choices. Xia would have made my list.
Xia Tobago Outer Rim Maricaibo Wrath of Ashardalon Clank: Catacombs
Cheers.
Hey Sam! I feel you, when you got angry with fate that coffee ruined your game and day! It happens sometimes and it sucks! But thank you for your great review of my game and that you liked it! Lookout tried their best to have the game come out as eco friendly as possible which I am very thankfull for. I have played my version to pieces and still have no issues but this may vary. But coffee is for sure a killer. Love your content and your style! Keep it up and best wishes from germany to you! Kosch
@@Koschbarde Awesome! Thanks for watching! Great job designing an amazing game! Eco-friendly is respectable, don’t get me wrong. The copy we played at DTE was in bad shape…that’s the main catalyst for purchasing sleeves.
