Thanks for the shout out Sam! Heh, someone said "please say Pod Racing" when Sam was talking about my Endor retheme of Chariot Race. Not the first time I've heard that! I did do a Pod Racing version about 2 years before. That can be seen in the opening collage of my Flipside videos or in the QR code link at the end under Designing for Fun. Cheers!
Cool panel! Spoilers below... ... ... Surprised no mention of video games... Also, I liked Ryan's mention of golf. What gamer doesn't want to play a dexterity board game while standing on the table??? 😂
#1: Game deluxification (arts and crafts). I include CNC work and 3D printing in this category along with buying upgrades (and expansions), but the technical skills you gain from learning and using 3D modeling/CAD/CAM software are marketable and adopting a "maker" mindset is helpful for solving lots of challenges around the house. #2: Hosting game nights. Party planning is another skill, particularly if you're providing food and drinks and have guests with dietary restrictions. Additionally, you can add teaching as a component of hosting since you will often needs to teach new board game rules to your guests. #3: Travel, particularly foreign travel and traveling to game conventions. Besides the fun of actually visiting places in the games, foreign travel is a good opportunity for deluxifying your games with unique souvenirs. For example, we use real five yen coins (gold color with a hole in the center) in our copy of Tokaido. At the current exchange rate, 20 of these coins would cost you ~63 cents, far less than most metal coin upgrades for games. Surely, that's enough reason to justify the cost of going to Japan. 😉
That was a neat topic. Games have certainly influenced my reading. I used to read mostly Warhammer novels or RPG books, but I've been branching out over the past few years. Up soon will be the Divine Comedy, which was prompted by me backing the Inferno game earlier this year.
Awesome list. Here is mine in no particular order: reading, painting minis, arts and crafts. I have tried once to make my own insert for Caverna. Taking measurements is not my thing. I spent entire day playing with scissors and glue to find out that the insert I worked on want fit the box. 😅 It looked good though 😂Thank you for the video.

Yeah, surprised video games wasn’t on someone’s list… or even more niche, classic arcade gaming.
Where did you guys film?
