That green pen is great, but i'm not sure I would prefer it to the tortoise shell which is a little more classy but still flamboyant.

That is a lovely pen. I want one in green. I was recently gifted a vintage J which is a much smaller pen. Having it makes me want a Model J in my collection.

So ironic, just as you were "expelling" your Pelikan, i was doing the same thing to my Nauvhlur(sp) Original Plus. The stub nib keeps getting clogged and I have to pump it to get it to write. Just ordered a bottle of Sugar Snap. I gave up waiting for someone to offer me a sample. Loving the Deep Pine, What is it about green inks?????

Hi Karyna, lovely colors, some great shimmer and sheening! I had to giggle every time you mention „another shimmer ink"- because I don't use shimmer inks. And so this was very satisfying for me to watch and see all these inks in pens in action 😅

I like the different format. I borrowed it from Lily back in May; always looking for new formats to spice things up. Beautiful line-up!

Hi Karyna, thanks for showing this beautiful pen and all the infos you provide. I‘m really liking the violet ones- but so far I can’t decide because they looks so different in every pic. I guess the colors are hard to photograph. Can I ask you: do you feel that the ebonite feels different in your hand while writing (sounds weird, right? ☺️)? I was wondering if you feel it when you hold it or/and when you write?

Fun. Still afraid of shimmers, but love to decorate with them. Surprising how well they work in fines and extra fines!

i think it's a great looking pen but id ask, would you get this pen if it wasn't gifted to you knowing the price tag. feels like it's a high bar for entry. and if you didn't need the ebonite, the standard model J is always an option. all depends on what you want in a pen and if it's going to be with you for the long haul to justify it. just to try out, not so sure. good to see the size comparisons! really need to try a laban

I was kind of disapoined when I first saw the revival of the J... For, in appearance, no reasons at all Quick, context, I have way too many hobbies, one of which being cars. I swear , it'll make sense later. There has been a... Trend, in the modern car industry that I despise with every single atoms of my body. Car designers take legendary names that have been used on well knows sports cars that were sold by the shovel back in the 20th century. They make a new model using said name... ...That has nothing to do with the original car. Example? Everyone knows what a Mustang is. Even if you have no idea about cars you've heard about it, how it's a big obnoxious muscle car with a big V8 that represents the American dream. Well, Ford made a new Mustang alongside the original one. They called it the Mach E. E for Electric. Already a lot of people would be shocked by this. Then how about pissing off enthusiasts more by making it a 4 door crossover. 60 years of performance, burnouts and noise all ruined by a grocery getter with a horse on the grill... This example is a bit extreme but I kind-of feel the same about the new J I have an original J, with the lever filler and interchangble steel nibs. I love mine! It's super portable but at the same time it carries a load of ink! It's very different from what we currently see in the industry. Rereleasing them would turn the forums upside down!... ...Instead we got an Estie with a flat top. Like come on it's closer to a Leonardo than an original Esterbrook! And they try to sell it to you as if it was the original thing! The Mach-E tried to pull that kind of marketting too but everyone saw through it! Nah, instead I would've completely overhauled the JR line. I would've included more vintage inspired colours, like the ones on the current J, but maybe some more too. I'd focus on the nib interchangeability and the filling system. If I can't fit a lever filler in them, I'll include a squeeze-type converter with the pen. NOW that would be a real Neo-J!

I have the Franklin Christoph, but I don't have an Esterbrook Model J. I had thought about getting one ages ago, but opted not to in favor of getting the Estie Raven Piston filler!! That is the only modern Esterbrook I own, but I have 7 vintage Esterbrooks and a few of the renew point nibs. Maybe some time in the future, but it's not a real priority.

What pens did you use?

Good afternoon Karyna!! Another great video. One of the stand out combinations is the Laban and Dracula. It just works with the look of the pen and the name of the ink. I’m not a fan of pink inks but the van diemans August is not too bad at all. The aquapetra and Diamine Rainbow is another excellent combination. I really like the lights of Niagara ink. It was a good choice for the pastel colors of the pen. I’m happy to hear you are enjoying the Model 31. I have really been enjoying that pen as well. I like your pen and ink combination there as well. The neutron star is one heck of an ink. I’m curious to how reading pages written with that ink will do since it’s a high sheen ink which as you know I have to try and avoid usually. But a sample might be worth a try. Have an amazing day!!

Not for me - I got sticker shock and I'm happy with my Estie!

Good afternoon Karyna! That is a very gorgeous pen. The packaging is very nice too which is normal for Esterbrook. I’m going to have to track one down. I’ve been a fan of the brand owning several esties and I think the Model J will be a nice addition to my collection.

Such a lovely pen. I love my estie so much that I think I’d find it hard to buy an Esterbrook that isn’t an Estie. That hammered gold though is such a nice touch. Hope you have a good week.

That Arabian Nights Koi is so tempting to me!

I was lucky enough to find this pen pre-loved, but barely used at a very good price. I love the ebonite body, it feels so nice and warm and the history behind the material is so cool. :) Do I like it better than my Esties ? No… I don‘t. :) It‘s a great pen, but I love my Esties more.

I just got the Model J in Violet and it’s gorgeous. Like you, I haven’t used it enough to say whether or not I like it more than my Esties but I love the way it looks. It is pricey for a steel nib but worth it if I love the writing experience. I did find the Antique Rose, which is beautiful on both Goulet and Goldspot for $265 (ouch).

I don't have an Estie yet, but that is pretty sweet.

Happy Sunday Karyna!! This pen is one of my favorites- I have the acrylic PALM GREEN model and it has handled every ink I have put in it so far. I think the steel nibs from Esterbrook are pretty great. I have tried the Estie as well and it's nice but I think I like the girth and comfortable grip on this Model J better. I ALSO have my eye on the Violet but I am waiting for now.... can't really justify two pens of the same model at the moment. plus there are too many other pens I want to try out first. I will look forward to seeing your thoughts on this in the future after you have some time with it. ALSO I must say, it looks huge in your hands but mine seems tiny. You must have very small hands vs. my HUGE MAN HANDS LOL.

I've been eyeing the blackberry and violet and I'll probably try them eventually. I like the simple, sleek design with the gold trims. 😇🩷🙏🙌

Hi Karyna, I recently started my fountain pen obsession 😂 and love watching your channel. Thank you for sharing the content!!! I wanted to ask; is there an ink trading network or place online I can look at. Since, I just started my obsession not so long ago. I have been buying bottles of ink and sometimes don’t like the end color.

I just purchased the Esterbrook j in violet with the mini stub nib. I haven’t tried that model nor that nib yet so I’m looking forward to that happy mail day!

After watching and reading a lot of reviews on the Bah Humbug, I ordered a bottle. Say down to watch this this morning and it's the first ink! It's helped to confirm I made a good choice.🎉 I'm still undecided about the Rainbows End though. Ive seen lots of reviews but i need a sample before I'm sure. Or, I just go full YOLO and get it.
