MY EARS ANHHHHHHHH. THE RADDLEEE
2:56 What makes coolers compatible with one set of mounting bars, but not the other? My cooler orientation doesn't match my case's airflow with the 'compatible' bars
We have 4 different sets of bars available to account for some coolers having 78mm and some coolers having 83mm mounting pitch (faqs.noctua.at/en/support/solutions/articles/101000432274-83mm-mp83-oder-78mm-mp78-montageabstand-welches-kit-ben%C3%B6tige-ich-). For each mounting pitch, we have short (north and south side of the socket, NM-AMB12 for 83mm and NM-AMB14 for 78mm) and long (east and west side of the socket, NM-AMB13 for 83mm and NM-AMB15 for 78mm) mounting bars. By choosing between short and long, you can match your case's airflow. This is what you need for standard orientation (blowing towards the IO): faqs.noctua.at/en/support/solutions/articles/101000484444-which-offset-mounting-bars-do-i-need-for-my-cooler- Which cooler are you using and which direction should it blow?
@@NoctuaVideos i personally have the NH-C14S which the compatibility chart specifically has listed under the NM-AMB12 which seems to have my fins going from north to south and blocking my case's primary airflow from east to west. I'd figure that this would be resolved with the pitch-respective east-west mount, the NM-AMB13, but according to the chart, my NH-C14S isn't compatible with the NM-AMB13, only the NM-AMB12. It seems like most or all coolers are only listed as compatible with a single mounting bracket, which seems to imply that they can't switch to a mounting bracket with the other orientation. I haven't found documentation that conclusively says otherwise. The Amazon listings for these brackets even say to not get the bracket unless your cooler is specifically listed as compatible.
We only list the default orientations in the FAQ and Amazon listings in order to make the selection as straightforward as possible for customers. We understand that this has caused confusion in your specific case, for which we apologise. You are right that the NM-AMB13 are what you need to turn your NH-C14S by 90° (fins east to west). Generally, aligning the fins with case airflow doesn't have much of an impact for top-flow coolers though as the fan on the cooler will push air through the fins anyway. The flow inside the case will be comparably weak, so it will not really make a difference in how much air goes through your heatsink. In this regard, the situation with top-flow coolers is different than with tower coolers where it's helpful to have their fan aligned with the airflow path inside the case.
@@NoctuaVideos Its no problem, I just wanted to clarify. I much appreciate the information! Thank you for your help!
Can anyone tell me if the mounting kit NM-AM5/4-MP78 is compatible with NH-D12L ? In the Noctua site tel that only NM-M1-MP78 is compatible, I am confused. Thanks
Yes, this is correct because the NM-AM5/4-MP78 only includes long mounting bars with mounting points on the east and west side of the socket, which would make the NH-D12L blow up towards the top of the case. The NM-M1-MP78 also includes short mounting bars with mounting points at the north and south side of the socket that will enable the NH-D12L to blow towards the rear exhaust fan. The NH-D12L already includes mounting parts for AM5 and AM4 though, so you should not need any extra parts unless you have lost them. In this case, we could also send you the required parts only, so please contact us at support@noctua.at if you need spare parts.
@@NoctuaVideos thanks for the answer, today I order the NM-M1/MP78 because I want to use the new bars offset on UP comming Ryzen 9000, my NH-D12L is on my old Intel PC. Regards.
Would the Gen 2 versions (Std/HBC/ LBC) be made available in India? If so, by when can we expect it to come here?
We hope to have it available in India in the next 2-3 months. In the meantime, you should be able to order from Amazon.com!
I wish every company was like Noctua
The LBC/HBC seems like extra gimmicky complication. Hurts resale value by only being optimal for 1 CPU vendor. And we don't know what convexities will be used by CPUs in the long term. So I can only countenance the Standard ver.
Wonder how it performs if cpu IHS is removed
I’m thinking on using this in NR200P V2 until the Noctua’s thermosiphone cooler comes out. Hate to use anything other than Noctua products.
So does this mean having 3 exhaust fans near the 2 fan tower cooler is actually a result a good idea?
This will depend on your individual case configuration. If the front top fan sits in front of the cooler, it can actually be beneficial to switch it to intake rather than exhaust.
the pipe model is ugly
I have a 14700k. Would the standard NH-D15 G2 be the suitable option to go for without the washers or the contact frame?
The standard version will work well, but if you don't use the washers or a contact frame, the HBC version would do even better!
the version with BETTER COLORS 😂😂😂
i got a micro ATX motherboard (GIGABYTE B550M DS3H AC) with two Corsair vengeance PRO RGB. Will the U12S REDUX, and D15S not cause any conflicts? I seen such coolers but on typical ATX motherboards, but mine is micro and the RAM slots are much closer to the CPU
Yes, both coolers will fit fine with yout motherboard and RAM: ncc.noctua.at/motherboards/model/B550M-DS3H-AC-motherboard-4933 ncc.noctua.at/ram/model/-ram-43/7
Oddly this is the best tutorial I’ve seen giving Noctua installation instructions… quick, to the point, and not one word spoken… 😉👍
this is how human trash looks like...
8 heatpipes?? Thats like 1x more than the Phantom spirit 120SE and probably 4x the price of it too
I was installing a NH-D9L for a friend, and after installing, we were like... wait. That's wrong. That can't be right. It's off the edge of the chip. "Yeah, go swap it to 0, these instructions must be wrong". I said, wait. wait. lemme Google it. AND THIS CAME UP. We 100% would have just switched it to 0 offset if not for this video. Nice.
i have never own a noctua fan before but ill get one once AM6 is out.
Not worth the money
The pricing is insane. 150 USD Not worth the money
please bring it to india at the same price as US
Alright, so if I understand it properly the LBC variants are fine without washers om LGA 2011 V3 or 2066, I'm on a 10980XE that I plan to stick with for a while longer, flat CPUs and heatspreaders benefit from the LBC variant. And I assume AM4 and older Intel gens like 8 or 9 being flat also benefit from the LBC version more.
Yes, LBC is what we'd recommend for LGA2011, LGA2066 or AM4. For LGA1151 based Intel 8th or 9th gen CPUs, we'd recommend the standard version as they show more deformation than LGA2011 or LGA2066. As for the washers, they can only be used with LGA1700.
Can I use for I9 14900k processor?
Yes, it will work great on a 14900K! We would recommend either the HBC version or the standard version and using the included shim washers underneath the ILM for this CPU.
i want that noctua hoodie
Thermalright Phantom Spirit EVO has the exact same performance for 1/3rd the price. Nice try though.
Thanks
Not to sound negative, but I was going to buy a chromax black fan for my U14S until I found that the price is only $5 CAD less than an entire Thermal right assassin. Hard to compete with china I know. Sad how it's like that.

Super useful video! Thank you!
NH-D15 G2 is a Robust and Quality product that worth the money and will work for at least a decade in the future! If Intel announces a new socket later this year, I'm sure Noctua will provide a free upgrade, as they do with the current generation of NH-D15. p.s. Noctua, please turn off monetization for the channel because now the ads are from the competition and looks so, so off!
Thank you for your kind feedback, the NH-D15 G2 already supports LGA1851 out of the box, so no need for upgrades! ;) Monetization is turned off for our channel, so normally you shouldn't get any ads!
When black version
We aim to have the black version ready in the first half of 2025.
...sigh...tbh it is too expensive. ns-d15s chromax black is still the king + it is not that much worse then this - like 2-3 degrees difference with additional 120mm fan. but it is good that there is a progress in air cooling. happy to own d15s chromax.
heyyy noctua! love your products but i have a question: will RotoSub® Active Noise Cancellation ever come? i would love to see it, i would love to work on it too if you need more people:3
We're not pursuing this at the moment because we get so much performance uplift from using tight tip clearances, which would be incredibly challenging to combine with ANC.

Wow, very interesting, so now we have Noctua and Gamers Nexus doing their own independent testing and basically coming to the same conclusion that Intel's ILM design is flawed. Intel must be pretty embarrassed about all this with a company as established as Noctua making whole new product lines to compensate for Intel's poor design. Intel must be pretty embarrassed by this, I know I would be if that was my product. A company as large as Intel should be testing all this stuff in house before finalising their products, there is a lot at stake, you'd think they would be more cautious and careful. My previous Intel CPU needed delidding to get its temps into acceptable range under load, and now I discovered my new Intel has this ILM pressure issue - lucky I managed to find this on youtube or else I would have been cluelessly warping my IHS and getting worse temps over the years. So glad I picked up a contact frame with my purchase so I can avoid all this nonsense.
Anyone know what case that is
