Have you ever swapped data chips from one computer to another?

I got a huge service box of old tubes from the 60s or 70s wonder what they are worth also a Simpson 479 fm tv signal generator. I see thats worth about 320 what it cost new in 1956.

The 6C4 is a medium-mu triode similar to half a 12AU7. The maximum ratings state it has a plate disapation of 3.5 watts class A, 5 watts class C. It can be used as an AF preamplifier. It is sometimes used in TV tuners. Also it can be used as a class C RF power amplifier where it has an output of 5.5 watts with a plate voltage of 300 volts and current of 25 milliamps. This is probably how it has been applied to generate the high voltage likely running less power to extend life.

I just did a repair on this model. It was just a speaker replacement, re cap. Good to go.

If you look on googie maps you can see this area from the air as it is near Brier Spring in the Nevada triangle of Death Valley National Park. No on the ground views on the map however. Introduced in 1948, Hallicrafters' model 505 was a typical set of the time, with a number of miniature tubes and a 7-inch electrostatic (7JP4) deflection picture tube. Model 506 was similar to the 505 but had small wooden feet on the bottom and used the same CRT. You most likely have the 506 which is from 1948, not 1950, but it's better to be off by a couple of years than a factor of 10. 🙃 Hope you get to finish your TV storage shed by Xmas this year. 😇

Several others that work on these mentioned that Sams doesn't list Magnavox by model number. There are far too many. You use the chassis number to get the correct Sams.

Good work! Not sure how much of our present-day 'tech' will be restorable in 80 years? As an aside, here in l'il olde England there were no ES-deflected TVs made commercially post-WW2 although there were plenty built by ex-Servicemen using war-surplus parts.

Excellent troubleshooting and theory and analysis.

Perhaps you need to sweep between 80 kHz below and above the 10.7 Mhz IF carrier. This will expand the peak with a flat top and help look at signal up close. You may also want to trigger the scope so you see only one cycle on the screen. BTW, what Nordmende model is this radio, and what is the Sams Photofact number. Thanks.

It was nice to see you get results with this very old cheap T.V. Set. I don't think you told us how you fixed the intermittent Focus circuit problem though.
