Five ways to lightweight in nTop
Lightweighting means doing more with less and has benefits beyond material reduction. Depending on the application, a lighter design can improve product performance, reduce manufacturing costs, lower energy consumption and emissions, and more.
In this video, Yuki Okada, Technical Marketing Specialist at nTop, shows you five ways to lightweight in nTop. He’ll give you an overview of how you can use latticing, shelling, perforation, topology optimization, and Field Optimization to lightweight your components in nTop.
Watch and learn about:
• nTop’s latticing and shelling capabilities.
• Topology optimization and post-processing abilities.
• Our new generative design technology, Field Optimization.

Topology Optimization Design for Cast and Injection Molded Parts
zhlédnutí 818Před 3 měsíci
Creating lightweight components through topology optimization can be challenging when the part becomes more complex, making it difficult to use traditional manufacturing methods such as metal casting and injection molding. In nTop, we’ve introduced new constraints that can help you reduce the mass of parts that need to be cast or molded. In this video, Yuki Okada, Technical Marketing Specialist...

    Very interesting and very powerful engine for treating meshes (voxels?)! It is also nice that you can store&repeat the same set of actions on different models. On the "modeling-side", since we are dealing with an impeller, can you change the thickness of the blades or the total number of blades or a (slight) change of the diameter of the impeller or the fillet radius at the bottom of each blade?

    I was thinking about the clamping force, when molds are exposed for that pressure the absolute best option in my worldn would be a circular channel as it could handle the pressure best. I might be wrong, just a tought.

    I'm curious how this affect would act on a smaller projectile such as a ball sphere 17.4mm or .6840" in size being accelerated at 300 feet per second. And, how would this change if the ball object had dimples like a golf ball instead of a smooth surface. Would it accelerate faster and longer with a more level flight like a golf ball even though its smaller in size, weighing approx. 3.5 to 4 grams?

    • @maxv8700
      @maxv8700 Před 2 měsíci

      Massive increase in accuracy slight increase in speed and distance. Think heading a bouncy ball versus hitting a golf ball. You have a more aerodynamically sound projectile and it will perform as such. Do it start making golf ball paintballs you'll be rich.

    If people just understood the principles behind this it wouldn't be a mystery, dimples increase turbulence and reduce flow velocity, but dimple increase turbulence and help keep flow attached so there are proper places for dimples and the entire port is not the place! put them on the short side radius and any tight spots where air cannot turn because the angle is over 15 degrees or so.
