Man, you've so easily lost several units to the barbarians, including a settler... Please pay more attention :P

That's a pretty safe looking island, at least. Sometimes you find empty land like that and you'd need to send your entire bloody army just to try and get a single city down. As annoying as the hyper-aggressive barbs can be if they find you, it's the ones that don't find you and keep spawning more units that can really mess up a game.

The barbarians are definitely to 11 in Civ 6. Civ 5 I'd always set them to raging because they were frankly just too weak otherwise, but 6 swung it too far the other way. Same with city-states, they went from free real estate to too valuable to go after. Hopefully Civ 7 will find some middle ground.

Hey Voltage, long time no see a vid of you. Have you checked out the 4X game Millennia by Paradox yet? I'm loving it and I think you will like it too. Maybe give it a try and make a CZcams series on it?

Send a trader from Ra-Kedet to Thebes for a slight boost to production and food while you build the Petra.

And here is the reason I don't play Heroes or Age of Wonders, the campaign doesn't let you continually play the same faction. I hate that. I will just go back to play Endless Legend the Elven Legacy games thanks.

There's potential for a decent industrial zone in the tile north-east of Thebes. With the horses, an aqueduct in the tile east of Thebes, and a dam in the tile east of the industrial zone + the craftsmen policy card, there will be great production.

Good to see some new content! I'm in a similar state where I've never finished any difficult games in 6; granted I'm not as good as you but the fact you have to plan your victory by about turn 15 has never worked with my gameplay. I usually just play on Warlord and have only gotten to King.

Instead of retreating your slinger, you could wait until you grab the city and heal the slinger in the new city. Fewer orders used. I think.

Hi, at around 27 minuts in you were choosing between 2 option for your new ruler. Did you mix up discontent with wisdom in that choice? While none of the options were bad, 7 wisdom and the science boost that comes with it are not to be scoffed at. =)

Was thinking about getting this game, but undecided. I liked the idea of a dynasty mixed with a Civ game - but I'm not sure it worked. Felt like a bit of a bolt on - but with some interesting parts to it. Appreciated the series though and think I saw one for CK3, so might check that out. I like the idea of that game, but the depth scares me a little! Thanks again.

I noticed you mention not wanting to put city in the desert area on the western coast. Currently playing a game where I built a mid-late game city with many snow adjacent tiles. Decent amount of other resources near by though. I got the city started by sending caravans of food or production when needed and utilized great scientists and a great engineer to build tile improvements in the snow. Science production quickly got up to 100+ a turn. I’m curious of your thoughts on this strat. In episode 7 of this series, I enjoy watching as I play my game alongside. Thanks for the content!

You should really try the Vox Populi mod if you haven't already :)

I actually--sort of--like not being able to spy on your friends in Civilization 6. It might not make sense IRL where that definitely happened, but it make sense for a video game, giving a penalty for a fairly big boost. And with the Civ 6 AI finding every reason to hate you, you probably wouldn't be able to get the friendship agreement back if you were caught just once, while you can do it constantly in Civ 5 and they don't really seem to care.

Building Feitorias in city states would fix the unhappiness problem very quickly.

I could be misremembering, but I think the reason that city-states always get resources is that starting settlers, including CS settlers, are guaranteed to spawn close to a strategic resource. It could be something like uranium that's useless most of the game, but it will be there. Since the AI always settles in place turn 1, a city-state settler will never move out of range of a resource,

"Quebec doesn't like me at all." Yeah, that's pretty common for people who speak English.

The micro-management of workers is even more painful in Old World. You can get so many cities and they're all so big that you constantly have workers running around everywhere. Granted you can turn them into militia if you don't need them, but militia are so weak they're basically just meat shields for your enemy to waste their turn on. The charge system in Civ 6 is definitely an upgrade after you get used to it.

My only issue with civ 5 is emperor and below and is too easy. Deity just givea massive steroids to the ai, doesn't actually make them any smarter.
