I was 12 when Katrina hit. I remember being at my grandparents house in the 9th ward a few days before we decided to leave. I remember the pain and worry in my grandmas eyes. My grandpa, uncle and aunt stayed and were rescued from the rooftop. The worry in my mom’s eyes as my dad was a police officer and he stayed never left his post. We couldn’t reach him for weeks until one day we saw him on the news. He was ok. I grew up quick that year. It was never the same again. I have anxiety every year around hurricane season and I’m finally leaving. Going back to the city was terrifying, it was quiet, no people only military and no electricity for a while.

New Orleans only has themselves to blame. I’m rooting for them, this tragedy was a nightmare. They caused it, they should’ve fixed levees before, everyone knows this.

The formeldahyde trailers slays me. The trailers that they needed already existed. Why didn’t trailer companies just donate them? Why did they have to make cheap trailers? Just use the ones already in the market. They spent $8500-$10,000 per trailer that buys a decent trailer!

From the outside looking in….i couldn’t believe what I saw…here we have the biggest super power in the world…a major natural disaster occurs and no aid was sent when they needed it in there own backyard….people died…not sure when the government stepped in? yet the US get involved everywhere else in the world except New Orleans apparently….not a balls up…..a disgrace.

If there was ever a time to re-watch this documentary, with the context and aftermath of what's happening since the fires on Maui -- the takeover of Realestate developers - the ease of moving out the indigenous community who'd been living in affordable housing there for years.... In 1998 hurricane George (cat. 3) wreck my country, Dominican Republic, I was 14. I have never seen and I hope to never see again destruction like that again. I can relate to the pain and suffering of those people.

There’s a lot to unpack in this. I hope people can see and allow themselves to recognize the reoccurring theme of sacrificing people for what the few will tell you is “the greater good”. The government, ANY government, will never realize that the people ARE the greater good.

I often wonder what happen to the lady who had the baby boy saying "look he isn't waking up" or to the woman and her triplets. That were shown in this doc. My neighbor is a Katrina survivor. The stories she told me will stick with me for ever. She's passed now, so I'm glad I wrote them down as she told them to me.

There were even wicked rulers in biblical times as well and continue to be in these times. When you follow the money, you will see those who LOVE money will almost always respond in inhumane ways. God will weigh it all out in the end for every person will have to answer to the Creator💯

New orleans after Katrina I never went before but go often at least 3 weeks of the year to visit, love the people, the culture, the food. Love to support small places and hard working people. Always with a smile and kind gestures. I cry seeing this footage the suffering people had to endure the dead toll, the sick, the houses flooded, the lack of help, the evident corruption and lack of sense of urgency. In my eyes the biggest natural disaster in the US of our times. I am sorry. I have a special love for New Orleans and its people.

They are fast to send war supplies, no expense spared. Too busy invading countries under some pretence of saving but we all know it's to steal.

I'm not as afraid of the storms as I am of the aftermath. Being marooned in the city and left to die or being murdered by NOPD pigs. I and my wife always evacuate knowing what we know. It's bad enough to be killed in a storm. It's much worse being killed by murder pigs after the fact. The long, black waterline is up to the striker plates in my house from Katrina. As we near another hurricane season, we will all sit in vigil for 6 months, watching the radar, keeping the gas tank full, and praying the storms leave us alone.

I met so many who couldn't go home. I lived in 9th ward 8 yrs after Katrina, and it was still rebuilding. My husband is from Uptown, and it would hurt him to drive thru there. They are not lying about booting these people out. Sad this can still go on in out society.

This woman in the beginning is telling how it really is in America! Disabled and it takes 6 months to get a medical card in Kansas City, Mo! I felt like they wanted me to die to lessen the work load. I'm serious. I repeatedly told them I needed weekly blood infusions.. Nope, most did not care. We still don't have it right!
