You got to do Axe Manga on Ayashimon a let down series that the creator of Hell’s Paradise tried so hard to make into a hit series.

Its like an cool uncompleted idea gone wrong. I see the vision but The author was still too unexperienced... it just wouldnt work out, even if haikyuu didnt exist Funny thing what i see about the author is when it comes to one-shots, its always action based. But his aim for serialization is highly slice of life. Normally authors just commit atleast once for a battle serialization

I have read 39 of these. There are still some great ones that you have missed or havent read or maybe you just werent a fan: other JOJO parts, beelzebub, shaman king, YUYU Hakusho, Toriko, nurarihyon no mago, saiki kusuo no psi-nan, dr slump and dragon ball, hungry joker I think is way better than black clover but the ending was blitzed, sensei no bulge, illegal rare, mieru hito, ultra battle satellite, mitsukubi condor. these are just th ones I think should be among those in this list. crazy commitment from you

Canvas Terra feels super 2000s to me and i love that. I really hope it starts serialisation and gets somewhere popularity wise. At least in the 20+ volume range I would hope we get from such a classic feeling adventure series.

I have read three of those and agree with you that Canvas Terra already looks like a first chapter. Sezaki-san, on the other hand, looks like a really good one-shot, but not Jump-like. I could see that story in a Sunday Magazine, but I think that the author will be doing another story for serialization. I also think that this author will be starting in the September batch of new series in Jump, finally! Furthermore, that last one, Bake Kitsune...I can't see as a series. I like it as a one-shot and think that the author get the vibes of a calm slice-of-life with good people and touching stories like Ruri Dragon or Sket Dance, but I don't think that THIS ONE could be that series. But looking forward to see future works from Sumida. Hope that he doesn't disappear. (And that was a terrible pun, because in Portuguese, my native language, Sumida means Vanished)

to all you kids getting into manga/anime for the first time, if there's ONE thing that you learn from this video, it's this: if you try something that's mainstream that you don't gel with OR other people love a genre/series and you just can't seem to get into, don't assume you made your opinion and write something off! Keep looking! When I was first getting into manga/anime, I thought for decades it wasn't for me. I kept seeing these teenagers using super powers and screaming all the time and just assumed "well, I guess this isn't for me" It took me 20 YEARS (that's 2-0!) to figure out what my tastes were and what I would like in the medium and all that time searching has made the enjoyment of manga that much better Don't think that manga/anime after when you were born doesn't have value! Tezuka, Fukio Fujiro, and Shigeru Mizuki among others are masters of their craft and you SHOULD NOT overlook their contributions Another pro-tip: sometimes, when an anime looks "boring" (aka real people that aren't fighting with super powers) are the best manga you'll read. TrentinArt wasn't lying when they said "don't write off gag/slice of life stuff". There are a lot of gems you're going to miss out on! I will now get off my soap box

At least the timeline is easier to follow then nauverse/fate series.. regardless the Universal century gets complicated especially when you add Manga and games into the mix. Gundam is a hard thing to jump into if you weren’t young and started off in toonami where you just see giant robots fighting as a kid, and then you get the games making you forget its politics, war and drama. To me I always watched the stuff outside of uc before I jumped into the uc and I started with The Original series of course I liked watching it in the movie format but they did skip a few things in the movies that I liked.

I really appreciate these videos about the history of Shonen Jump and Manga as a print medium. I'm very sad that in North America we cant get a monthly Shonen Jump anymore, so this is giving me some nostalgia.

The roster talk segment was a great addition to this series, it gives so much more context to what was actually happening in the magazine. Some mangas were added so long ago that we, viewers, forget about them but they're going strong in the magazine occupying a place there. Also helps to understand the themes that were popular back to these years. Can't wait for more of these videos, but do take your time researching cause it's worth!

Had just gotten up to this little series and not going to lie, it has been very intriguing to hear about the history of the magazine. I recently decided to revisit part 1 of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (mostly because it had been about a decade since I got introduced to the series) and it's been a nice experience. Though this time I liked it a lot more and the core of part 1 was very strong. God Sider does sound like it will be my thing so i'll give it a read sometime
