The divers can easily float in their gear, it's designed for that. But that 27C/81F water will continuously draw heat from them and eventually chill their core temperature.

Proximity jumping with a wingsuit leaves almost zero margin for error. The wrong trajectory through a small notch seems like a broken hold on a free solo climb-both aren’t completely within the jumper/climber’s control, and neither provides much prospect of recovery.

Great story! Many of these kinds of situations have things in common, such as assuming the other people are on the same page. Know the people you're counting on. Also, carry supplies, such as water, chocolate, caffeine pills, pepper spray, survivor knife; even a powerful laser pointer.

I used to deliver Domino's Pizzas on Komodo island. Wore 8' stilts. The Komodans tipped me good. Not a tippper, I leave the pizza by the road.

When going to Indonesia surfing or diving always take a EPIRB & waterproof flashlight that will last min 8 hours. Sadly when you money runs out, so to can your life. The Balinese are so friendly & helpful, but the ones from other islands think of only two things, money & themselves. They will leave you stranded at sea and take your belongings thinking you won’t be needing them again. Just like a surfer from Australia found out the hard way not so long ago. Lucky his family ended up paying for a helicopter to search for him and he was located the following day, There is no safety in Indonesia. I have seen the worst dive crews that should never be allowed to operate. Stick to Australian and or American dive run companies operating in Indonesia, that don’t have lazy laid back workers that will leave you just because they are hungry.

Would never go off trail and hiking alone, you just never know what could happen. Not meeting oddballs but an accident is so much more common. I had an accident in lockdown and no one could come, not even the ambulance, so I lay on the floor for two weeks with snacks and water and a potty. I couldnt walk at all, couldn’t get up at all. Now that happening in wilderness well I’d be gone like Mike. RIP Mike. ❤

I just returned from Bali and Gili island Indonesia. There are some great dive companies & some great dive masters you would dive with anytime. Most are Australians and Americans living in Indonesia. When it comes to the laid back life of the Indonesians, they will leave you stranded at sea if their finish time or paid time runs out. It’s the ones from other islands like Java and not the Balinese that are the worst. Just a surfer from Australia found out the hard way, only months ago. (Lucky he survived) They don’t think, like most do. Safety in construction, to brushing their own teeth is forgotten or nonexistent. They do not care about you, only the amount of dollars they can get from you. When this runs out, so to can your life.

The Galeras disaster is this same kind of disaster when people went down into an active volcano on White Island/NZ. The only difference is, that on White Island these were unaware tourists who had no knowledge about volcanoes at all. Just booking into a "nice opportunity for an once in a lifetime visit".They became victims of greedy tour companies who put money above life. At Galeras those where experienced and fully volcano educated scientists who ignored the warnings signs against their better knowledge. Call this stupid or overly self confident. Finally both have not only put their own lives at risk, but those of the people who came to their rescue! Iceland has a strict rule: You don't walk out onto fresh lava! If you do so though and you break thru the surface- we won't send anybody to your rescue! We will not put additional lives at risk due to your own stupidity! It's hard but definitely clear to all these people, who think they know better and can ignore warnings and restrictions.

I can't believe the narrator didn't address the issue of the company leaving the divers behind. What was their excuse? Were they held responsible in any way. What was their name so others don't book them. I'm a SCUBA instructor who has worked all over the world, and there is NO EXCUSE for this behavior.

I found Christ is my path and Paul Washer to be one of the best biblical preachers of our time right here on YT. May you find the peace you seek as we have for 2k plus years since he walked as a man!
