That Mt. Ranier story is both incredible and sad. I can't imagine watching your friend plumet down a mountainside for even a second. And after that, to hear that one of those who were sent to rescue you had also passed in the incident. That must have been so difficult to recover from, emotionally

Rachel and Joseph, I believe he killed her because she wasn’t interested in him romantically.
Didn’t the autopsy say her injuries were the gunshot wound.
If they were 2 miles from where they were parked, it makes no sense he would have gone for help in at dawn-cooler hours. Or shooting off all his bullets to get attention, not just three.
When I was a cop we were trained to always say a victim did not suffer when asked. Never give full details.
They were both severely dehydrated at the time of death- so badly neither of them would've been able to walk any longer. It was clear they had both gone without food or water for several days- and in a place like Joshua Tree- that's fatal. They both had injuries and blisters on their feet and legs. It was obvious that they had been lost, that they had tried to find their way out, and that they had eventually ran out of water or food. In fact, it was so obvious her own family thinks she was killed to end her suffering- forensics supports this, and so did a thorough investigation of the scene by detectives- don't you think any of these ppl would be in a much better place to understand what may have happened here than you- someone who watched a 15 min. CZcams clip on it?
No, it said that she fell at some point, he carried her to a shaded spot, took care of her until they couldn't bear the elements and lack of food and water.

I can't believe the family of that one guy sued for his accident in Yellowstone. Who, in their right mind, would go running around Yellowstone at NIGHT, in the back country no less? I can't get over that! That place is very dangerous during the day, when you can see everything clearly! There's no way I would be in the back country jumping around anything at night! You never know what you're going to step into, be attacked by or fall through in Yellowstone back country! I literally remember this beautiful area in the back country that I was taking a picture of. I turned to the side and this huge plume of gas rose from the ground out of nowhere. I backed up so quickly and went on my way. You have to be so careful in that park because there are many things that can kill you there, including the very ground you are walking on! Yellowstone is a super volcano! Period! It isn't Disneyland! And it gets SUPER dark in the back country at night! All you have are the stars and whatever light you bring in. There are no overhead lights! It's the wilderness. Only nuts go around in the back country at night.

Thank you, I remember hearing about this except it was being reported they jumped in thinking it was safe. I think its important that the reporting at the time was wrong.

City people need to research the area they want to visit, otherwise, you are a liability out there. Also, obey the rules. No selfies with wildlife, enjoy them at a safe distance. Clean up after yourselves, dont leave trash, pick that stuff up. Use bear proof contains to store your food and leftovers. Use common sense. Stay on the trail, no bush whacking unless you know what you are doing. Dress for the weather or bring a change clothes. Bring water! Invest in a GPS device so if you do get lost, so searchers can find you. Tell family where you are going and when you plan return. Think smarter not harder. Be safe.
I noticed this Tuber uses a different voice delivery when quoting people in the story. I think he should switch the two and use the narration voice for quoting and vice versa.

Climbed mt rainier in 1979 at age 11 with my dad and brother with no problems at all. Guess we were lucky
I've just learned to never underestimate nature. When I was around 10 my parents and I went for a hike in one of the hills by my hometown in the Philippines (like its a hill how dangerous can it be????). It was supposed to be leisurely hike but we got hit with a surprise torrential downpour, a flashflood and a mudslide. Came back home cold miserable and shook up.
Your father was probably intelligent enough to check the forecast out before doing so.
the joshua tree incident is sus.
why wouldn’t joseph try to find help if he was fully physically capable of doing so after rachel hit her head? they were 2 miles away from their car. why wouldn’t he desperately try to reach authorities if that became their only option to leave? even with no cell signal, 911 is still reachable, albeit not at all times, but if you keep trying chances are likely you can eventually reach a dispatcher. i’ve been to joshua tree and 2 miles out from the parking lot, we still had cell service.
it seems he made no attempt to save her life. and they keep saying he was prepared with weapons, why not be prepared with the basics before considering arming yourself…like enough water and food and medical supplies in case of an emergency!? the story of what they believe happened sounds even far fetched for a fairytale plot.
joseph was not a hero and rachel lost her beautiful life to another deranged man who desperately needed more help for his mental instability than rachel most likely needed for her physical injury. sad story, let’s at least honor the real turn of events.
LoL. Where did you get all that from? Joshua tree gets extremely hot in the summer. They were lost, they didn't know they were 2 miles away. If you're not accustomed to the heat, or not in good shape, heat exhaustion happens rapidly within a couple of hours. You can survive easily, but you need about 4 gallons of water a day. In an area like that, everything looks the same, so you get lost quickly and easily. Their actual pattern was probably very zig zag, so they probably covered a large distance. It's clear from the autopsy that rachel fell and had a severe head injury. He carried her to a shaded spot. They were both terrified and instead of being a deranged lunatic, he was probably overly-chivalrous and stayed by her side instead of leaving tto find help. Then water and food runs out, adding overwhelming terror. They likely decided it was better than dying a horrible one from dehydration. I've gotten temporarily lost in the desert, even within a known area. Disorientation happens quickly which is scary, but if you don't know how to handle the situation it easily gets bad

people make stupid decisions, yes but that cave should also have a warning sign regarding lightening strikes....or people should be informed of the previous tragedy so it is not repeated.

I assume it was covered by the sand over the few months it had rested there by his leg, like the wind picked up the sand little by little day by day until it was partially covered rather than buried by someone.

Nah I don't believe the city folks are the problem, I've heard of mountain men and hunters, woodsman and they come up missing..why do women go hiking by themselves with no protection and most of them are from the country and they never come back from smthg weird happening 🤔💯
nahhh, its the lack of education and the feeling that they're invincible is the problem. Many experienced outdoors people get into trouble because they try to push their luck or don't prepare enough/don't have a contingency plan if things go south.

That's such a wild oversimplification, there's countless stories about "rugged woodsman" making dumb choices and doing things incredibly unsafe. Someone living in a city doesn't mean they've spent their whole lives there or have zero outdoor knowledge😂😂 the number of people I grew up with in the Midwest who are idiots about the outdoors is staggering lol
