Land & Sea with Kee
Registrace 28. 04. 2021
I started this channel when I was running my sailing school to share sailing adventures and maintenance and repair videos as suggested by many of my sailing students. It’s now become just my general life of adventures with my dog Chewee. We’re currently travelling in a van through Baja and who knows what’s next. Come explore Land & Sea with Kee 😊
DIY Flat Mount Starlink Dish - Simple & Easy
Here is how I turned my $260 refurbished starlink dish into a sleek permanently installed flat dish without paying all the extra doh! Before I took off on this trip I knew I was going to be alone in remote places with no internet so getting starlink was pretty high on the list. After I got the dish I quickly realised it wasn't something I could just leave up. After watching a ton of youtube videos of different ways people have modified dishes I set out to try my own way. I don't have a full shop of tools like a lot of youtubers I watched with CNC machines etc. so I'd say my mod was did a very simple and just about anyone could do it.
Materials:
5200 FAST CURE - Fast cure is key here unless you want to wait 7 DAYYYYS for it to cure!
Piece of Poly Carbonate - I used 1/2" only because I was using it for a boat project as well 3/8 would definitly do!
Self tapping stainless screws
Drill bits
Drill
Impact
Dremel or other cutting tool (a router would work too)
BE EXTREMLY CAREFUL CUTTING POLYCARBONATE. IT'S VERY GRABBY. I used a chop saw to cut mine but cutting the little blocks was definitly scary.
Pre-drill all screw holes as well, I broke several screws in the polycarbonate (this stuff is tough!)

The time has come for me to sell my 1988 Catalina 30 I bought Venture, registered name “Reflections”, in 2016. She only had two previous owners who took meticulous care of her and logged all major jobs done. Venture and I have had 5 wonderful summers together exploring Howe Sound, the sunshine coast, up to Desolation Sound, and the Gulf Islands! She’s trained over a hundred new sailors, and has...

We set out for a 10 day trip from Howe Sound to Desolation Sound. On day 1 I go to finish the solar install on Venture and run into issues getting the power to the charge controller. I find I made a mistake putting the MC4 connectors together. I go in depth into figuring this out so if your not into troubleshooting and tech-y things this might not be the video for you. Installing Solar Panels with MC4 Connectors on MV Miss Anchorage
zhlédnutí 162Před 3 lety
While helping my friends upgrade their electrical system we added 2 175watt Renogy flexible solar panels and a 50A MPPT/DCDC Charge controller. We used MC4 connectors to connect everything and a deck gland to keep things water tight as the cables pass through the deck. After connecting all the wires before we ran them through the deck we made sure we had good connections and the right polarity ...
Marine Diesel Engine Maintenance

While I finished up some projects in the boat yard I gave my engine some tender loving care. Cleaned up engine electrical, fixed some high chafe areas, touched up the paint, fibreglassed my water lift in place, and gave the bilge a nice fresh coat of paint. My engine is a universal M25XP, It's 33 years old and still runs great! Enjoy :) Instagram @venture_bc & @keannarink Sailing school website...

How much?
Just a guess but I'm thinking she sold for 33,000...Am I close ?

This is the most adorable boat showing I've ever seen😊 I'm looking into buying a cat 30 and this inspires me. I hope you're well and have a great 2024 😊
Is the boat still available?
No sorry
Heerlijk! Mooie beelden. Jaloersmakend! ⛵
Wow Sailor is the boat still available,
No its sold sorry
Excellent, informative video. Just a minor suggestion: for future videos could you please increase the commentary volume and reduce the music volume? Many thanks, R
Hello, I noticed that your first filter (off engine) was a 2 micron. According to Nigel Calder, author of Marine Diesel Engines, your primary filter should be 30 microns, secondary (if you have one) 10 microns, and on engine filter 2 microns. That way your first filter captures the larger particles and your last filter the small ones. The challenge with your set up is that your primary filter will get clogged too quickly (and starve your engine of fuel) because it is only 2 microns.
Amazing job. Very inspiring.
well done 😊
Wonderful to see a woman doing this sort of engineering. Bravo! I am installing a PYI PSS tomorrow, so thanks for the inspiration! Dorian (Coos Bay, OR)
I know this vid has been up a long time before I found it, but this was the most complete and honest boat review/tour I've seen. I learned a lot. Thanks.
You mentioned a vent. I'm confused... isn't the nipple connected to a water hose to lubricate the shaft? Where does the water come from? A water hose? HELP. We bought a bought (owner died) and the hose is not connected.
On most sailboats this is just a vent led above the water line to burb air out. On powerboats this needs to be connected to a water source for cooling.
Great video ladies!! WTG taught me a lot
Thanks for not making this video 20 minutes long🙂👍🏻
Super video, as most don't address bleeding the system or checking for leaks. I admire your knowledge to of variations in systems, such as feul pumps--love your capacity for multiple perspectives. I learned a lot! Thank you!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. I have Catalina 30 and as a noob have had trouble with the roller furling jib.
Great job. Where did you haul out? I’m at Pedder bay but need to replace my Dripless shaft seal in Spring.
Awesome troubleshootiing SKILL !!
Thank you! About to remove a furling headsail whose halyard parted near the top. It’s my first boat with furling, so I appreciate your tutorial. Fortunately the previous owner somehow retrieved the broken line and secured it at deck level, so I’ve been able to replace the halyard already.
Good work, i need to do this x2
Great job on this video, thanks for posting!
great video...very clear.......thanks
Nice and clean. What did you get for her? I do not remember hearing anything about keel, tall rig... sail stuff? Too late now suppose but have you blown out the refridge with compressed air? Where the fan is blowing? You, they need to do that at least once a season. If it is running all the time the motor will die. If oven is too hot, get a good thermometer. Get it up to 350, then loosen screw that holds the temp control knob on. Rotate the knob to 350, set screw. Are you getting another boat? Capt. Jaun
This is probably the cleanest C30 I’ve seen, way cleaner than mine. Very nice!
Your 88 Cat 30 is the inspiration for how I want mine to be! Wish you still had it.-)
Does the shaft seal need to be water fed? Or is that as is and just used the hose as a vent?
감사합니다 잘보고갑니다 korea
Really nice boat. Well done!
Thanks! I didnt knew what was they black box until I see this video
Nicely done explanatory tour.. I like the 30!!!
