    Great to see an episode on cycling. I found out that TdF is one of the highest watched sports event in the world. I started following cycling from last 2 years, got inspired and got a cycle and have done 5000 Kms on it since. I channel my inner Vingegaard while going over a flyover and channel my inner Tom Pidcock while coming down.

    THIS SHOW IS GOLD. People often say that with internet, information has become more democratised, it has become accessible, and every common person can now learn a lot. But honestly, most of the content is often incomplete, misleading or simply propaganda. The knowledge of CZcams shorts and the tons of content creators is entertaining, but is like junk food to me. For real knowledge, thoda kasht karna padta hai. You know what guys, you may never reach 1 million subscribers etc(I guess you are not aiming for that anyway?), but this show is like the most premium luxury dining wrt the junk food i mentioned earlier. I feel so lucky to stumble upon this show. I absolutely disagree with Amit ji's point about the post 2015 period being a bad period wrt reforms, but man what a lovely lovely episode this was. I so wanted to know the stories about the people behind these reforms, and you guys did a fabulous job. Though Ajay ji please tell more insider stories, I love the economics and the treasure of knowledge you give, but I love the fun insider stories even more 😂😂(btw that Dry cleaning story I first heard on ThePrint, Shekhar ji told it).

    You seem to make high presumption on North and South, West divide on specific metrics. But there are many outliers too. 1. GST collection that reflects consumption levels Odisha generates more GST than Andhra Pradesh, Chattisgarh generates more than Kerala despite both former states having lower populations wrt latter. 2. Gujarat has a higher poverty rate than West Bengal as per MPI 2023 of NITI Aayog despite high income prosperity. 3. A South state like Andhra Pradesh has lowest Literacy rate in the country. Now I agree on broad economic divide but there are many outliers too which should not be ignored.

    Interestingly, since 2018, there have been 285 Grandmasters and 47 Junior Grandmasters (Grandmasters currently younger than 20). Of these, 12% of the Grandmasters are Indian, and 10% are Russian. But among the Junior Grandmasters, 30% are Indian, while only 4% are Russian. There is a notable upcoming shift in the chess epicentre from the former Soviet Union towards India.

      This is huge! Here is a conjecture. The higher up you go, the less it can work on pure nature. Nurture becomes more important in the journey to super GM.

    • @karangulati9693
      @karangulati9693 Před 4 dny

      I sense it’s a mix of both. 8 of the 10 countries with the most GMs have multiple Super GMs (Ukraine and Spain are exceptions). This supports the nurture and cluster argument (also a previous Everything is Everything episode). However, despite few GMs overall, Iran and Azerbaijan also have multiple Super GMs. There may be something special about these individuals.

It's true of the EU too in terms of porosity, but more so between and Pakistan given the spectre of division and the diametrically opposite affinities one experiences on the "other side".

    Hi Amit and Ajay, Great episkde. Love your content. There was very repetitive use of mylapore circle for chess booming in madras. I dont think the place has any significance to the contribution of chess. In my opinion, it was vishy who opened the gates and not to mention velammal school who has greatly supported these chess GMs like Gukesh, Pragg , vaishali , sethuraman , adhibhan etc. Another important credit in the chess circle needs to go to RB Ramesh who is a GM himself who is a trainer for Pragg. Also on a side note, i listen the episdoe while on my commute. The honking in the background always throws me off , I turn back to see if someone behind me is unhappy .
