did the kickstart work after reassembly?
What adhesive did u use for the carpet? I have used a deck adhesive in the past but it let go after a few years. Im gonna start my my rebuild next week.
I used a TEC Indoor Outdoor Carpet Adhesive from Menards. It's holding up great from me so far. I just powerwashed the boat clean. It looks just like new even today. Good luck with your rebuild!
this was my first boat and took it also for holiday all over the Ijsselmeer. very robust and stable❤
Tittle doesnt match video
Great job. I have a 16’ spectrum and only need a floor and pour foam. My winter project. 😊
Just bought our Father-Son project, a 1994 Spectrum 18 Sport that looks like this and inside is a pile of Aluminum parts and wood wrought in the flooring. Your video gives me hope and so many so many questions..
It's easier than it looks. Just take it one step at a time. Lots of great memories.
I did this back in the early 90’s on my 78 ram. Had to do the rear cab mounts and the front bed mounts. I’m sure it had nothing to do with a jump or two while off-road 🤫
I have a spectrum 1700, want to do same thing. My boat leaks, I assume rivets. Did yours leak? Did you replace all rivets? Also, how did you know transom was rotten, only after you tore it out?
I could push a screwdriver into the mushy wood and the transom also flexed. Thoses were two giveaways it was rotten. My haul is all welded so I only had a few leaks in the transom where an old transducer was mounted. I plugged those with pop rivits and haven't had a leak since.
Thanks!
I found my leak, ripped out the floor from back up to windscreen and removed all foam... was not rivets, was the drain for the splash well... sealed it up now the majority of the leaking is gone, just a small drip to find by transom as well... unfortunately, it rotted the transom in that local area and my transom is sealed so I'll need to cut it open. The transom does not have a cap over it, the aluminum is just folded over it so one side it needs to be cut.
Awesome!!!
You trying to sell the idea or the truck? Lol
Did you have a hard time keeping up?
How did you like the bike and do you still have it?
Nice Work, sold many of these Spectrum Boats; was a Brunswick owned boat div. Most were packaged with Force engines.
What’d you use to make the front seats. I have a boat like this and would like to make a platform for fishing and I don’t know if wood would rott
I used marine grade plywood. It's held up great for the last five years.
Lmao 4x4 that's a 2x4 wanker
The boat that I’m tearing down is identical to your but is 18’ . Your build turned out nice . I love your inspectors .
What did the deck look like before you started the restoration? I’m getting ready to restore a 1985 Crestliner Nordic. The seats are revived when I bought it and only cover glass deck, no carpet
i love your work I seen a lot these used boats going up for sale around in my area on fb and Kijiji thinkking of doing my own kinda project too nice vids btw
My son said 1996
Man I've got the same boat. It's there anything you would had done differently?
Nope the boat has held up great. I added a trolling motor, upgraded the seats, rod holders, fish finder and added more lights. Same Johnson is still running strong.
What did you use to aluminum weld the transom area?
Hi. I own just the same boat, certainly after restore.
That was excellent work! 👌🏾
Thank you very much for the cost break down. It is much appreciated! 👌👌 Great job on the boat!
Oh no...the infamous 99 model 5.4 3v...good luck brother... Edit: and I believe those are 2x4s
97-2003 is a 2v not a 3v. The 3v was 2004 to I think 2008 or 2010. 2v only had Exhaust Manifold Bolts rusting and Spark plugs if not torqued properly pushing out. Other then that fairly easy engine to work on. The 3valve had issues with spark plugs breaking in cylinders, Leaky intakes, Cam lobes falling off, Timing chains falling in oil pans, Just fact it had adjustable cam phasers was the stupid and they would always wear out breaking everything else in the cam.
Ya done good Dad they will remember helping you for the rest of their lives
Fun indestructible bike. Glad to see you wearing boots but where’s the helmet? The only reason I ask is it only took two minutes for me to crack my skull open try to ride my XR 400 out the back of my pick up without my helmet I went over the bars next thing I knew I woke up in the hospital.Just wanna make sure you keep riding as many years as you can because that bike will go as many years as you can. Have a great day brother
Nice to see good help.
Beautiful work 👏
love the people who complain or call it shit. To be honest with you its no different then making a wooden truck bed. Least you retain the original bed and still use it. Because this year model with flatbeds looked like crap because of how the rear cab shape was designed for the bed to overlap it.
Yet another genius Ford design. 🙄 They did that all the way up to the 2010s
Pine treated or not.. is soft ass wood..this is a lazy fing fix.. Im rebuilding ny 76 Jeep J10s bed.. and no way id use wood as center cross members unless it was 4x4 oak posts. Alao ford. gm and dodge all cheaped out on the thickness of metal used on their trucks.. my 76 Jeeps 8ft bed was 16ga steel with 1/8th cross members.. The dodge bed floor im using as a replacement. Is 22ga.. HALF as thick.. so it sags when you walk on it between the cross members.. So im adding 3 more steel supports in between so it doesnt do that.. That 9 cross members.. Jeep only used 5.. they didnt need more. Jeep deff was superior in build quality iver the big three from the 60-90s
Most home made beds are just made of Barn wood or repurposed wood. Hell my parents still have the 80s F250 with old Barn Wood bed and its still holds up and frame isn't rotted mind you I live in a state that throws down Salt during the winter@@jeepsblackpowderandlights4305. My current truck had this done but its a 4x4 shoved into the weak bed tube and it was done 6 years ago not had issues since and its just treated deck wood.
what brand of paint remover was that you used?
how much hp exactly this car has ?
What a restoration job! Nicely done. I was just curious how you installed the pedestal seat bases. I’m looking to do the same for my boat. I have a wooden floor deck and wanted to know what is the most effective way to ensure longevity, stability, and sturdiness for a safe and smooth ride?
2x4 dude
nice work
Great job
Kerren bro 👍👍
well done but with an A crew like that...failure was not an option good job and great memories safe boating
No updates? Looking forward to it :)
That truck has issues
That's not a 4×4 piece of wood but good idea.
I miss my Mustang. My motor froze and kept the Shelby wheels.
"5 coats of paint on <xyz>"... sir, you are a patient and diligent man. outstanding attention to detail! The person who coined the phrase "if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right" was talking about you. :-)
Great job.
Was there sound to this ?
How did you plan your carpet and how did you get it pre-cut?
Great job. Your kids look so happy. Can’t put a price on any of that.
That thing is never going to sink on you. That's for sure.
Good work! I would love to hear to talk through these pictures and hear more of what you did.
How did you get the 4x4 underneath the bed
