    I do not believe any of the "there is no profit in new cars" rhetoric. I've heard this my entire life of 59 years. Service does not pay for a $20 million dollar dealership. Market manipulation at its best!!

    I did this on a stealership in Dallas: they had a loaded Nissan sentra on their website and i called to ask for the stock number availability it was available, when I showed up there they claimed it was still there until I pulled out my phone an showed them their mistake, they had a misprint on the price, car should have been $24,999 but they had it for $14,999... Aahhh!! So when they saw this, magically the car sold while me standing there and I saw none buy anything, they tried to lie to me and I told the salesman that he just had told me "the car is here" , then they said he committed an error on checking the Vin number which was a lie because I had a picture of the vin number and I compared it to the car in stock and BAAAMM!! They also tried the "disclaimer" deal but to no avail...So..after 8 long hours of "negotiation" (according to them, because i wasn't paying more than the stated price) I walked out the door with a brand new Nissan sentra for $14,999...fast forward to 4 months maybe? The car turned out to be a lemon, worse car ever, the dashboard was a pagan Christ-mass celebration (aka Christmas) it lighted nonstop the ac was a fiasco and the whole car was a mess, tried the warranty but it was useless...trash of a vehicle wich ended up crashed and totaled. Now I drive my old 1999 chevrolet silverado which is paid for 435,000 miles but still drives like a champ but, no debt..I will never buy a new car or get into debt on one.     Yup, this is America, dealers are going to steal from gullible people. I drive 2 2005's, one with 200K miles. Very simple, NEVER go to a dealership. Do not buy new, do not lease. Put that money into Apple stock or the S&P. When I'm at any intersection in town, all I see is new cars, basically all leased, $5K down $699/mo and you never own anything. Wow. As long as Americans feel they need to "show out" to their friends and neighbors, this will continue, and so the complainers will complain. If you're that guy that has to have the latest and greatest to be the man, get a bank loan and buy out of someone's yard. Hellcats, Chargers and Challengers are getting repossessed at an unbelievable rate.

    I don't waste my time with the sale person. I do deals over the phone with sales managers... Normally its a 30 minute call then 15-25 minutes with finance person... Now this is all over the phone... Being in Pa. I have bought a Challenger T/A in Ca. had it shipped. My wife and I bought a car in S. Carolina Flew down and drove the car back... The best and fast place on ALL above was Farrish Dodge in Fairfax Va.. Called on phone made the deal real quick and when we drove down paperwork was like in 15 minutes on the way back to Pa.... People stop waiting for hours for them to SCREW with you. Walk out and let them beg for your business!!! PERIOD

    Solid video. The situation for dealers is simple. The market has flipped, you have no credibility with your customers, the brand has failed due to idiotic senior leaders at Stellantis. Your best bet is to liquidate your remaining inventory asap to have enough cash to hopefully survive. You failed to see the market trands and were still high on covid market Kool aid. You should have lowered prices aggressively much, much earlier and now there will be major pain and you may not survive.

    Teslas Model S Plaid used to be 130K, now its 87K. Theres no reason the manufacture to not give rebates to drop the prices, and give the dealers a decent payout.

    In the past, prior to the digital age. The “Salesman” could add value to a vehicle buying transaction. However today, its a digital world. When most of the pricing info is available on most peoples phones if they do a bit of research. Combine that with company’s like Telsa, Carmax and others where everyone pays the same price, which reduces the “Add Value” of what a Salesman does. Realtors/Car Salesman and many other professions are in jeopardy of becoming the next Blockbuster Video, unless they update their business models and create an add value to the customer.

    Your description of the car buying process is spot on. I would buy a new car now, but I don’t want to deal with the car dealership. I would rather just order a Tesla. I just missed the .99% interest, but as soon as it’s back, I’ll be buying one. I will order a car online, I will not sit in a dealership for 9 hours when I have an 816 credit score. Why is it taking that long?

    I'd never consider for a second buying a Dodge or Ram. Odds are they won't be around in a year or two. If dealers start to go bust, your SOL with warranty repairs.

    I don't believe it is legal to go direct. Tesla got around the law because it is an EV. Dealers will never give up their franchise. They can take orders vs have new cars on the lot.

    Great video, sir! You are spot on. I played this game with multiple Dodge dealers dating back to Oct. Of 22 while trying to score a 23 JB RE PC. Never did get the car. I'll never forgive Dodge for the HP locator. These large, greedy dealers can all go under. I gave up and bought a C8 from a reputable small town dealer. So long Dodge.

    First, Carmax is crap. I never pay sticker price on new or used (yes, I said used, not pre-owned, pre-loved or any other stupid term). When I need to buy a vehicle, my pricing is OTD (Out The Door), no fees or any of that mountain of bullshit paperwork that goes in the trash after the vehicle leaves the lot. You don't have to do any of that when you buy a vehicle from a private induvial, you hand over cash and they hand you a clear title. Same way I buy from dealerships. If they don't like it, I leave. I don't have to deal with them. Oh, and nitrogen filled tires? Please, it's a scam, your paying $300 for 4 green valve caps. I had to repair the machine at our shop and what I found inside was a moisture filter. No "special" molecule pump.

    The dealers think it's hard now, wait until the super low priced EV's hit the world market. $10k low cost cars are starting to sell worldwide and they are going to limit US made cars to the US market. When you lower volume the cost to produce cars will not lower. They plan to produce this car in Mexico. The car prices will not have room for dealer markup. Direct sales are the future.

    The type of people attracted to these sales jobs aren't stable. Most are divorced smokers who spend money as quick as they get it. That money you spoke of? It was spent on weekend trips to Vegas and Cancun. Oh, and don't forget child support and dry cleaning.

    One thing the common Joe doesn’t know, is that before Covid most all domestic dealers sold brand new vehicles for an average of less than $1000 profit. That went on for YEARS! So a small period of Covid time dealers actually didn’t have to fight for the price they wanted and that makes them all crooks and “they get what they deserve”? Yes, some dealers went crazy with it, but let’s not make this out to be that dealers should be the only ones who can’t make money on their product when they get the chance, because 95% of the time they sell for little to no profit. Ask me how I know.

    Yeah, that's why I drive the wheels off of my cars so i don't have to put up with dealers. Usually I'd go in about 6 or 7 and tell them it gad to be that day, and they want to get home more than I do. It's amazing how fast the F&I department works when you have a time deadline.

    The Dodge Hornet is already a failure. Fire the design team. Fire the CEO and every suit involved in making the decision to put that garbage out in the marketplace. What did they think was going to happen when the gravy train of the performance lineup was gone? They didn't learn anything from their most recent disaster, the Dart.

    On another note, I’ve talked to several people recently that are out car shopping for new cars and you and I’m talking about used car dealers. I’m talking new cars and new car dealerships. The price they advertise in the paper is the starting point before all the add-ons and if you finance, the car through the dealership at what they tell you to do it’s it’s no it’s usually about four $5000 less than what they actually wanna sell the car for and I’ve been hearing that at least a half a dozen times in the last six months it’s horrible. They rip your lips off.
