      I watch a channel from time to time where the guy does paint correction and ceramic coating/detailing of high end cars. He takes detailed and high res videos of before and after. Ford seems to be the worse but every single car he gets ALL have paint issues from the factory From paint runs to bubbling and peeling Cars that have literally no miles on them. The last one I watched was a 2023 challenger black ghost. Every panel had some kind of paint issue. There is even evidence of light wet sanding on this car and multiple others To the naked eye these cars are perfect but soon as he hits these cars with special led lights and at the right angles it’s amazing what he finds.

I worked at a dealership for many years and know the crap they pull, that's how I know. I also know of dealers that did exactly what I mentioned, they just put the green caps on without adding any nitrogen, how can you prove otherwise unless you saw them put it in live. When I got there, they had this fancy computer screen desk to flip through paperwork fast. Just sign the screen with you finger! We get to the final breakdown, there was a 2K alarm for three year extra protection. After acting like that was going to kill the deal and walked out, he acted like he went to his manager and then come back and gave me the three years for free. All I wanted was the last year Toyota 4Runner with the V6 and 5 speed Tran for an around town car. But I had to walk out of the dealership in order to get that already factory option sold as an upscale off the deal.

It has had so many overnight stays at the various repair shops it has been in, that my friend is surprised he has not had to pay rent! Right now it has rust issues and paint chipping off around the doors. I drove it the other day, and I spent ten minutes at a drive-thru to get a cheeseburger, and the temperature gauge was at the 75% mark. There is no way that engine should have been that hot. I recently visited Big O Tires to purchase and have four new tires, totaling $1,200, for my Corvette, complementing a set of wheels I bought for $1,000. Unfortunately, my experience did not meet expectations. Upon arrival to pick up my wheels, I discovered that all four tires were incorrectly mounted for the passenger side only. This oversight required additional wait time to rectify the issue, during which the staff, particularly the attendant assisting me, seemed unhurried to resolve the problem.
    Moreover, after the tires were finally mounted correctly and re-balanced, I noticed that residues from the wheel weights were left on two of my brand new wheels, which was quite disappointing. Overall, the service was lackluster, and the lack of attention to detail was frustrating. I hope Big O Tires can improve their service for future customers.

The nitrogen generators at most shops are not maintained, so they become just an air compressor. Ideal Gas Law explains how the nitrogen BS is just that BS. They use nitrogen in racing tires mainly because its easier to have a high pressure nitrogen tank in the pit than an air compressor running on gas or electricity.

    Informative video Brad, thanks for the 411. These scams aren't new but they have gone by different names through the decades. Years ago I remember GM dealerships using the "Mop & Glow" scam which was a dealer exclusive exterior paint sealant and Interior protection package.
    Not sure why everyone is all in for Nitrogen filled tires. I'm guessing things are different out in So Cal but here in Houston, TX the only place I've found pushing this is Costco, no surprise there. But here's the thing they're not telling you, you can't mix the two. Also Costco is the only business I've found peddling Nitrogen, you can't find it anywhere else in this area. Almost all of your typical gas stations don't carry it. We don't have Big O tires out here but the other tire chains namely Discount Tires & NTB don't carry it either. So if you have a leak of a flat in and around the Houston area you will be forced back into filling your impaired tire with regular old Oxygen. IMHO, it's kind of a worthless exercise in futility at least around here.

    The nitrogen doesn’t expand or compress when cold like air does. The idea is you maintain a more consistent air pressure across the seasons. Not having to add air in winter and not having to let air out in the summer. Asphalt race cars have been using nitrogen to fill tires for decades for this very reason, only theirs is predominantly due to overheating. It’s a good idea, they just way overcharge for it.

The thought process is with nitrogen you won’t have to. As well as in the desert during summer months tires can get so hot and the air expansion and they blow out. Nitrogen is absolutely better, just not a necessity and is more or less a connivence thing.

      The aluminum rims on most vehicles let out air regardless so nitrogen filled tires are actually a hassle because you have to find a facility that has nitrogen to refill and that is more time consuming than just getting air anywhere so is nitrogen better I 100% believe not

    Recent interaction with an Audi dealer about an RS3.....
    Him: The addons are already on the car.
    Me: Ok I do not want them so take care....
    Him: So the only thing stopping you from buying is the addons? (totaling 3k in markups).
    Me: Yes
    About 10 mins later....
    Ok my Manager agreed to MSRP and removing the addons...
    Now I am still on the fence on buying the car because the insurance on the car is CRAZY but the notion that they can't scrap the addons is BOGUS!

    So, history of Nitrogen in tires comes from Aviation. It is done in aircraft tires to prevent feeding fires during brake fire events because nitrogen is an inert gas, aka does not add fuel to the fire. Like you said some genius decided that car tires needed this protection too. Car brakes don’t really catch on fire, and if they do you don’t have to evacuate 400 people out of your car. I will die on this hill, there is no reason to put nitrogen in car tires.

    Oxygen molecules leak faster from your tires than nitrogen. Our air is made up of oxygen and nitrogen. As you keep up with your air pressure, over time as oxygen escapes from your tires and you air them up, you wind up with almost all nitrogen in your tires. Nitrogen tire service at the dealership is a scam.

    I don't think Nitrogen - filled tires are worth the cost unless u like being taken advantage of. There is only a slight improvement with using it which is not very useful for a daily driven vehicle. Regular air is 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen and small amounts of other gases like carbon dioxide, neon, helium, methane, krypton, and hydrogen. Do ur research. Why would u ever pay for nitrogen when it's free? If u're not using a vehicle to push the absolute technology and performance of that vehicle on a race track (F1, NHRA) there is no significant incentive to be taken advantage of with this scam.

    Let's see how smart you are. Why do you think Nascar runs Nitrogen in there tires. Even sprint cars run it 90% of your road racing cars run it. Let's see if you I know why??
    I do know why it makes the tires run cooler an last longer. Now if you say I am stupid , Go to any Nascar owner Sprint car owner an ask them why they run it. Before you talk an say thing you have know idea about you need to know the truth about it. The dealer is scaming people on the price that is true. Buy why they put it in the tire you have know idea why. And you saying your car tires don't lose air you are full of it. All tires do. The heat from the roads make the air in the tire lose air. Nitrogen runs 20% cooler you don't lose air as fast tire will last longer. I hope 90% of your subscribers don't believe everything you say an believe you. They better have some very tall rubber boots on because your $hit gets very deep.

      @esteban1487 Před 21 dnem +1

      That's odd. The heat from the road warms up my tires, and the air pressure increases, it doesn't decrease. You sure you know what you're talking about?

    • @judgehastheword9069
      @judgehastheword9069 Před 21 dnem

      Yes the air pressure increases an nitrogen in the tires will keep the air from increasing. Yes I do know what I am talking about. I raced for 7 years pro mods .I have a brother that raced unlimited late models. I am now 60 years old been around racing my whole life. I don't have to prove anything to anyone.

    • @MechanicalMafioso
      @MechanicalMafioso Před 21 dnem

      @@esteban1487Tires heating up in race cars increases the OD (Outer Diameter) of the tire thus changing the handling of the car. They literally measure the OD of every tire and selectively pick and choose what tire goes where based on OD, typically no 4 tires are the same OD.That changing due to heat is bad. Thus Nitrogen, stays far more consistent, it doesn’t expand like air does or compress with cold. So yeah it’s a thing…. Is it necessary, no. Does it keep a more consistent tire pressure? Absolutely. Do dealers need to grape people like they do for it? Absolutely not.
