    I am not a Dodge fan at all. But I watched someone explain why the Dodge V8's are being discontinued and the prices are high. Dodge is paying carbon credits to Tesla in order to make the V8 engines because they do not meet emissions standards. They cannot meet the stringent emissions standards and Dodge was forced to increase the prices because they are bleeding cash. That still doesn't explain to me why Jeep Wranglers are so over priced.

    • @WoodRumble
      @WoodRumble Před 28 dny +7

    • @theunknownone5990
      @theunknownone5990 Před 28 dny +6

      There were much better ways to fix the carbon credit situation than spitting on the core identity of their brand. They could have taken some time to develop a non-hemi V8 (call it the Magnum) that could get similar test scores to the Coyote or LS. Then either make them easy to tune, or get an aftermarket partnership similar to what Ford has with Shelby for the high performance versions, which would get around those requirements.

    It’s amazing how much turmoil Chrysler has been in over the years the only reason Dodge was as successful as it has been is because of the Daimler merger way back in 1998 the platform used to make a charger, Magnum and challenger is an old Mercedes platform & dodge stuffed big Hemmings into it. There really hasn’t been that much innovation in the Dodge lineup to be truthful. The only thing that’s worth a significant amount in their portfolio is the Jeep brand that is thoroughly being mismanaged due to high MSRP’s and trying to become an upscale brand.

      Yes. They are seriously turning off middle class wrangler fans. Go ahead and make the grand cherokee luxury, but the wrangler? No. That was wrong. They are turning away the jeep wrangler customer base with these prices not adding buyers to their loyal customers and enthusiasts. This is just like the woke thing in movies, pandering to an audience that doesn’t exist and as a consequence losing fans too so that star wars for instance doesn’t exist past 1,2,3,4,5,6 (and maybe rogue one). These marketing teams lose more than they win by trying to go towards a customer that doesn’t exist to actually buy their products.

    I'm with you. Stellantis is garbage. I'm a Mopar guy with a long history owning Dodge, Chrysler, and Jeep cars. I currently daily drive a 98 Dodge Durango with a trusty old 318 under the hood. My first vehicle was a 91 Dodge D150 with a 318. Traditionally Dodge was always known for making great engines, tough trucks, and cars that were fun and interesting. These European guys have no clue what the American car is about and they are hosing us over. We need major change. I really hope they sell these classic and iconic American brands to someone who will care about actually stewarding what they are about.

The Chinese would make those brands even worse and I don't see them bringing the hemi back. At least if the auto union had control we know that they would promote not only American jobs but they would also promote sales in America meaning they would bring back vehicles and options that made those brands money like the hemi..

      @@mikeodonnell5430 There was a time that I’d agree that Wranglers were overpriced but……The technology that goes into Wranglers now is a significant reason for the higher prices especially for the higher trim levels. Ironically, customers buy the higher priced trim levels but then never take them off road.
      Stellantis publicly stated their goal was to turn the Jeep brand into a luxury vehicle. They have clearly done that but nothing except Wranglers are selling. Stellantis has recently announced they are going to build a very basic Wrangler next year with none of the expensive technology currently in their higher trim levels. Estimated MSRP $25,000 range. Prototype looks very similar to the India produced “Thar” which is a basic knockoff version of the original Jeep Wrangler.
      I think I saw a prototype version on a TFL CZcams. “If” that’s what they are going to build it should be a huge success.

    As a tech, seeing what Stealantis has done to my beloved cars is killing me. They fired all of our tech/engineer support and farmed it out to India. They "revamped" our service information and wire schematics that are needed to fix these cars and completely messed up the usable interface. Half the information is missing that used to be there. The schematics are no longer easy to use. Mechanics are a cranky bunch and now they just screwed up our only help line when their POS cars have some oddball issue and made finding any information on how to fix them more complicated to find. AND THEY CUT THE LABOR TIMES THAT THEY PAY US BY ABOUT 25%. We already were loosing money on warranty jobs and now they are about to loose many of their good technicians because we have had enough and are looking for better opportunities.
