I have a question what are your hobbies outside of work?
Thank you for another fantastic video surgical guru!
Thanks for being involved I'm currently enrolled and I appreciate the interest you have in helping those of us who are continuing to explore and do more research and learning in many different ways ❤ it's really inspiring and motivating for me while lifting my spirit
homie, i don't know how you get the confidence. I'd be so insecure about filming me opening. I'd be so afraid of people talkin shit. Maybe it's just me. Not everyone is as cool as me about things. Whatever, yo, I just did a Zimmer Zimmy Zims cuz! And you know thisss, MaN! And I'm out, nice video.
The confidence comes with experience. Trying failing and learning. It’s the same process with anything you do in life. I truly appreciate the love and acknowledgment, but seriously bro from my perspective it doesn’t even feel special just the natural order of things. It’s like a baby to walk or learning how to use his hands to eat after you practice so many times it’s natural. Nothing different about me or anybody else I just trained! I’m truly proud of you bro! Keep going! That’s ironic and dope you did Zimmer! Keep up the good work, my brother!
Can you please show me what you put on your mayo stand for the Mako hip set up and Mako knee set up🤔
Absolutely I gotchu I’ll have that uploaded today.
Greatjob

@@osky2558 you’re welcome I appreciate it and thank you for watching!
Around 12:50, was the nurse being serious and passive aggressive about you picking up the trays to go and see the patient? She needs to have accountability too cause if she was really in a rush there were plenty of other surfaces where they could have opened more of the vendor sets to further expedite things on their end and not come at you. Great job with always just brushing it aside cause it’s not that deep and after working with different types of nurses for years as a traveler I’d imagine you’ve come to see it all . - Navy CST
I can’t even completely understand what she said to me but you said it perfectly brother. Most of the times it’s friendly banter but even if it was serious I understand the pressure comes from anesthesia, doctors, and ultimately upper management to expedite the set up process and get things done as quickly as possible so we can do as many cases as we can throughout the day. We’re human and everyday won’t be perfect but in attempts to maintain my peace of mind I don’t take anything personally and approach work with an understanding perspective as opposed to feeling personally attacked. Also you put it perfectly bro when you deal with harsher personalities throughout your traveling it makes it much easier to deal with people in general. I truly appreciate your comment and service in the field my friend! God bless you forever on this journey of life.
Surgical Guru, Thanks for making these videos can you make a video regarding organ procurement keep up the good work
Thank you for watching “Ben & Friday.” It’s my pleasure and I’d be happy to make a video regarding organ procurement. I don’t currently do them here at the facility I’m working at but I’ll definitely put it on my list of videos to complete in the near future!
The Ref. Number for the X Wide Mayo Covers is 8339 on Cardinal Health if that's what your hospital uses. Hope this helps!
@@noonesfool Thank you very much! We have them in some packs but not all of them

Yoo that’s hilarious! 😂 it’s a small world forreal! I truly appreciate that brother and wish you the same!
Thank you very much for this. I really needed this. I'm trying to finish my school so I can start this.
Congratulations! & You’re welcome you got this!!
How long is the program ?
I always wrap a 6" Coban around the head of the c arm so that way its nice and tight and won't get caught as easily on instruments and stuff
That is a brilliant strategy. There is a doctor I work with at my current facility who always ask us to do that, but I don’t usually on my own. I gotta start doing that more often. I think it definitely helps with the sterility.
Most of my docs have started saying to other scrubs to do the "Patrick thing" lol. Def helps in ortho/spine with k wires and jigs sticking out. Plus looks better
Super helpful- thanks!!
I’m happy I could help! You’re welcome!
Yo! This yo boy, certified surgical tech learning from the master! I'm playing. Hey remember you precepted me a little as a student? Well, I want you to know I watch some of your posts. Not all of them but a few. Sometimes your boys hurting bro. Simple shit: setting up URO, draping a c-arm, I fumbled a URO drape. Anyway, your channel helps. Peace.
Ayyyye Certified Surgical Tech I love the sound of that and of course I remember precept for you bro! It was an honor to be able to pass off whatever knowledge I had to you. Thank you for watching the post. I definitely understand bro. Please remember to always be patient with yourself. There’s a learning curve with everything as you know. You had a previous profession and you didn’t learn it overnight. It takes time. Even if people get frustrated don’t take it personal! Sometimes even remind them you’re trying your best and you’re there to help! Keep asking questions brother and practice makes perfect! Also just so you know 10 years later I STILL make mistakes, it’s all good brother. Just keep going. I’m glad the channel can help. I will upload an Urology set up and do a c-arm draping for a little refresher! May God always keep you encouraged! Peace out brother!
Keep it up 🎊 🎉
Thank you for taking the time to record these videos. They have been so helpful. Please keep making them!!!
@@Greenroutine17 I will thank you for watching ❤️
Hey any advice for scrubbing with some like myself that she really long arms? I tend to overthink it when I try to wash my elbows I have long arms bro
I would say to just make sure you keep a good distance from your arms and your body while scrubbing. Other than that nothing too special that you need to do.
I wear surgical gowns when I’m in Decon in sterile processing they are cooler and provide more protection . Plus I stay dry and don’t sweat out my scrubs .
I’m excited about to begin Clinicals this August!
That’s amazing bro. I’m excited for you! I wish you much success and blessings!
@@TheSurgicalGuru thank u so much!
@@SamBWinningPlease keep me posted on your progress!
One last piece of advice I forgot to mention is to ask your preceptors for feedback at the end of the case. Ask them specifically where and how you can improve.
How would you handle preceptors and doctors that don't want to teach or are unwilling to answer questions? In my clinicals I have encountered preceptors/doctors who do not want students and are very unwilling to help, almost into the realm of being hostile. I've asked questions and they simply ignore me, but then I've had great preceptors and doctors who talk through every step and I learn a great deal. Other students at other hospitals have actually had very hostile environments.
Made this alot less stressful than my skills test instructor w
I’m sorry to hear that it was stressful. I will definitely try my best to teach in a way that makes it less intimidating.
From one surgical tech to another💯 great advice!!
Thank you Colleen!
I’m in Sterile Processing at Penn Medicine. Headed for Surgical First Assist, long term! I’m excited to know the OR from the basement in Sterile Processing, ON UP. 🎉🎉🎉 your video is confirming because I just made the decision yesterday to apply for the surg tech program.

Wow easy 😊
Yes, practice makes perfect
Your videos are very helpful! Thank you!
You’re very welcome. It’s my pleasure. Let me know whatever type of videos you need in the future.
Sir I'm studying Bs surgical technology so can you tell me about after operation which detergent or solution use for hand wash. Before surgery it's ok i understand but after surgery can you tell about ??
Whenever the case or surgical procedure is complete, I use regular hand soap and water to wash myself off. You need to be surgically clean to scrub into a procedure but at the end, you don’t need anything special just soap and water my brother.
@@TheSurgicalGuru thank you so much
Brother aqui in Brasil
Much love my Brazilian brother from an Ivorian brother!
If possible write instrument name plz
Yes I will definitely do that in the future!
I’m considering traveling, how do you handle transportation?
It depends on how far I’m traveling. I don’t mind driving. I’m not sure if that’s an option for you but anything over 10 hours I typically book a flight. Your travel agency will also reimburse you for travel expenses just gotta ask them.
Lovin yo spin on proper aseptic technique procedures…😊
Thank you so much. I appreciate that!
I love how respectful the surgeon is to his nurses!
I am not the surgeon. I’m the surgical tech but yes, respect is incredibly important. I appreciate everybody I work with

What’s your opinion on online surgical tech programs?
Is it anterior or posterior referencing ??
Those are called rainy clip applies. It’s not for retraction. It’s more for hemostasis.
