Daydreaming of Quitting My Job to Ride Unemployment Line Everyday | MTB Galbraith in Bellingham, WA
Unemployment Line is one of Trailforks most popular trails on the West Coast (and maybe the entire US) for a reason. More PWN perfection here, incredible flow, some cool wooden features and lots and lots of jumps. I actually like Evolution the best, the wooden features are my bread and butter. Stoked to finally have gotten to ride this bucket list trail.

Post Canyon outside of Hood River, OR on the Columbia River Gorge was an incredible trail system with amazing progressive flow and jump trails that are easy to lap and lots more trails being built, I only scratched the surface in this video. 2 of the most popular trails were even closed for maintenance but it made no difference, definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area...
Healthy Mix of Speed and Exposure on the Jabberwocky Trail | MTB Riding in Ashland, Oregon

Ashland, Oregon is a beautiful small town just north of the border with California with an amazing trail system in the Ashland Watershed. Jabberwocky and Lizard are both incredible machine built flow trails with plenty of berms and jumps. This isn't quite the PNW loam that everybody loves so try to get there early in the season before it gets dry and dusty, especially with the high speed and so...

Jackson Hole, Wyoming is home to my favorite ski resort with both incredible snow and terrain just a quick shuttle away from the charming little cowboy town of Jackson. Corbet's Couloir is possibly North America's most iconic resort run, with a nearly vertical drop tucked between 2 massive rock walls. We got lucky last year with it opening when we were there but the conditions were a bit rough,...

Trail looks fun.
That trail looks a bit brutal honestly, but I bet nothing feels better than a clean run through it top to bottom. BTW, are you wearing old school Vans slip-ons?
Probably my least favorite trail on Galby lol. Lots of folks like it tho!
Yeah honestly Evolution was my favorite, loved those wooden features. And then Atomic Dog was awesome too because it was a bit more natural and the natural features are what make places unique, like the wallride that I completely goofed on.
its a pretty sad trail. could be so much better. i vote that we should have the shire crew rebuild it.
Yes I’ll follow u on Strava 🙏🏼
Good stuff, ombre. I love watching your clips
Thanks so much, I appreciate you watching!
There are mountain lions in that area. Are you riding by yourself?
Yeah I’m generally a solo rider. I think there’s mountain lions in 90% of the places I ride. I just see it as part of the risk, just like surfing and sharks.
Camera u using
This is a GoPro 10 with the Max Lens
Would u happen to have Strava ?
Yes I do, I should probably start adding them to the video description. Did you want to see my Strava for this ride?
Yes if u would like to share it that would be cool
Nice to see you hit that gap jump near the finish!
Yeah it’s kind of the perfect little gap since it’s kind of a step down but it always scares me each time I hit it 😂
@@HobbyGoblinTyler biggest gap I've done is 7ft. took me a while to get up the sack for it.
That’s huge, nice job. Yeah kind of like with skiing / snowboarding, a lot of stuff will work out just fine it’s mostly getting the courage to try that’s difficult.
what bike are you on? its a full sus right? i really like the color
It's a 2020 Santa Cruz Bronson. I believe the color is Matte Olive. Full suspension. It's been an awesome bike!
have you tried any of the new stuff? im curious how it is.
i heard they are adding new things to it. Are they finished or still working ?
@@ptony3883 I don’t know. I haven’t been down there yet but I am planning to this summer
This was my first time here but I had read an article just a few days before that they just finished adding an additional jump line, that’s about all I knew was new though. Some stuff still covered with tarps and closed for the beginning of the season, not sure if any of that was new as well.
I really miss that place, now that we moved to California...
I mostly live in So Cal as well, this place blew me away. Will probably be doing more road frequent trips up to the PNW, there’s just too much good riding up there.
Helll yeah! This is dope
Haha you’re dope! 💙
Dude this is awesome
Awesome !!
You don't suck at jumping. Those bigger man-made jumps are a bit kickier and require more speed and pop (and commitment!). I just started clearing some of them last season. Now after 3 months off I have to work up to it again.
Thanks, yeah I’m still working up to the bigger ones. I think really the speed is what trips me up, I always do a brake check before hitting something.
@@HobbyGoblinTyler A quite normal reaction.
Great place to ride. This is the Sycamore side, on the other side of Alessandro is the Ammo dump side. Ride here three times a week generally. Glad you enjoyed. The exploring there is excellent.
Yes I meant to go check out the other side as well but I got lost haha. Will definitely check it out next time. What's your favorite trail in the area?
@@HobbyGoblinTyler I like trails on both sides, however the Sycamore Cyn side I prefer as I think it has more technical places and I like the bigger elevation changes. Also the trails on like strava or trail forks names as well as what people call them isn't always the same.
Yeah I’ve noticed that quite a bit, locals using different names from Trailforks or the trails not being on there. I travel to new trail systems a lot so I rely heavily on Trailforks
are you at the ark?
This is The Circuit gym in Bend, Oregon
oh ok
this happened to my '19 SJ (loose rear hub). Bearing was trashed = time for a new wheel. Curious which cassette you have on back, is it a SRAM NX by chance?
Yep that's exactly what happened, bike shop said it made more sense to just get a whole new wheel rather than do all the work to replace the hub! I have SRAM GX actually.
@@HobbyGoblinTyler Interesting. Mine was an NX which uses an HG hub. When it broke, I figured it was a good time to upgrade to a GX cassette which uses the XD hub body. I was hoping my new XD wheel will be a more reliable design, but sounds like that may not necessarily be the case. Oh well, fingers crossed. Have a good one
Nice video, are you riding hard tail?
Thanks! And nope, I'm on a full suspension Santa Cruz Bronson. I'm sure people ride this on a hardtail but with all these drops it would be pretty rough haha.
Grab the starter with the left as you did, then Grab the long one with your right hand and PUSH yourself up. Then, place your feet on the tiny rock and slowly get your body upright. Put your right leg on the long one and impulse yourself to reach the tiny rock above with your right hand. Maybe switch your feet with the left on the long one and the right foot on the rock to the right. And impulse yourself again so your right hand can reach the high rock up above. I don't pretend to rock climb or know the difficulty of this, but personally that's what I would do considering I'm 5'1. Albeit it would take me some time to get the technique down. You have to think outside the box.
Nice trail looks like rain did some damage all around so cal trails
Yeah plenty of ruts to look out for this spring!
fun looking trails
I can't wait to get back here and get lost again haha.
what a great spot shirley!
Nice catch 😂! But yeah this spot is awesome, great for a quick ride after work or getting someone out for their first ride or even progressing your own skills
Moving to Reno in a few months. Thanks for highlighting places to ride. This place looks fun.
No problem, have fun out there! Check out the trails on Peavine too, I have another video of those if you're interested. Much more climbing but they're definitely worth it. czcams.com/video/8lVKNVko-XU/video.html
Let me know if you need a tour guide. 🍻
I used to live in Reno… I miss it so much. Thanks for sharing. Next time I’m around I’ll have to check this place out.
Definitely check it out! People seem to always think of Tahoe around here for biking but it’s impressive some of the stuff Reno has. Makes me wish I started biking when I was growing up here!
The jumps being added on Smooth Criminal were not being built good, they were liped and would send you into a crash. We all like jumps, just not bad ones that literally make people crash...
That's totally fair, especially if riders aren't used to a jump being there on a trail that they know really well. Seems like it'd be hard to maintain good jumps with that kind of soil as well.
The spot with the sign was a good jump. Till someone kept making a lip on it. 😢
That's frustrating. At least the drop on that trail has the ride around. Optional features are generally the best of both worlds.
By the way, great video 👌
Thanks I really appreciate it! Hoping to get back soon and ride the rock feature on Peaches and explore some of the other trails out there.
Nice trail,you got a new sub,✌️
Thanks I appreciate it! Loved this trail, it’s pretty famous for a reason.
That looks fun!!!!!! Wish we had that here :)
Definitely lucky here in California to have such a huge variety of trails!
Wondering what model MTB you ride? Great video! Thanks for sharing.
I'm riding on my 2020 Santa Cruz Bronson. I've had it for about 3 years now I believe, my first full suspension. It's full 27.5 and I've been looking at maybe getting an enduro 29er in the next year or so but it's tough to decide which bike, would love to do some demo's at bike parks this summer. Thanks for watching!
Dude get some real shoes.
lol I’ve been looking at getting some but for the most part the vans have done me pretty solid. What shoes do you recommend?
@@HobbyGoblinTyler anything with a stiffer sole. You will still have a lot of pedal feel and grip but have more stability and probably a little added confidence with that.
That's fair, I definitely don't always have much confidence in the vans. I've heard good things about the Ride Concept shoes as well.
Ride Concepts and Five10s are good. Leatt makes some good ones that I managed to find super cheap on sale. But for regular looking shoes that will feel like regular shoes while still retaining a good sole, I don’t think anything beats Ride Concepts.
I'll have to check them out, the vans are getting pretty slippery lol
Moved to the area not long ago and started riding it solo. Still don't know where everything is. Where is The Force trail located? Does it branch off The Wall before you hit Monkey Puzzle and Pinball Wizard? Sometimes I just hit the jump lines at Scott Canyon and just call it a day lol.
Just took a look at Trailforks and yes that’s exactly right, it breaks off of The Wall on the peak before you’d hit Pinball. And honestly that ride down Scott Canyon is more action than some entire trail systems!
Where are these located?
These are in Loma Linda. There's a city park equipped with playgrounds and a dog park at the bottom parking lot called Hulda Crooks park. That's what this trail network is commonly referred to.
I believe on Trailforks it’s called South Hills Preserve as well if that helps!
My complaint about riding Sycamore Canyon is most of the trails all look the same and they’re not marked.
Yeah I looked at Trailforks like every 5 minutes out here and still got lost like 5 times.
An alternate route where all the climbing is done at the beginning is to park at the top of Stenner Creek road and ride up to Cuesta Grade. Ride up Stenner creek trail to elevator, past the Eucs and then up Shooters. Descend Botanicals and Morning Glory. I love ending a ride with a downhill.
That makes sense! I always prefer ending with a downhill and that was one of my negatives about this place, except I'm sure that ride up the grade is tough, that is steep but at least the bottom part is paved.
The ride up Shooters is much easier than the ride out of Chrome. 😊
I did quite a bit of walking on the way out of Chrome haha. And hiked up Shooters this time after the mechanical issue with my bike. A lot of walking this day unfortunately.
hell yeah this place looks awesome
There's a little bit of everything out here and the climbs aren't too bad.
i miss riding my mtb, even though it only got flat yesterday...
Then pump it up
@@Yukterez its got a hole
Gotta go tubeless if you haven't already!
@@HobbyGoblinTyler seems like he already went tubeless, otherwise he could just swap in a new tube and go. i go with tubes, and if i have a flat i just swap in a new tube in 5 minutes, but if you're tubeless and the hole's too big your screwed
Yeah that's fair, I've had really bad luck with tubes when I've used them but if they work for you more power to ya.
Love that CA terrain. So different from my Pisgah rides out here on the east coast.
We're lucky to have such a wide variety out here too, but I'm hoping to make my way east this summer and Pisgah is definitely high on the list.
Gnarly!
Yeah this trail system is wild, definitely pushed my limits.
@@HobbyGoblinTyler Cheers!
This is awesome. As someone of a similar skill level, I appreciate that you're not flying through every obstacle. So many features in Rocky Peak can easily overwhelm you if you don't know the terrain.
Yeah this definitely wasn't the place to go flying in blind. I always take my time on the first ride down a trail, especially somewhere like Rocky Peak.
You did great, some of them rock rolls are not easy.
Thanks! Yeah this place is no joke. A few close calls on some of these but I survived it.
thank you for video!
Thanks for watching!
Vegas is underrated and so are its trails. The riding is as good as anywhere. If you like chunky, techy, ledgy exposed riding, we have tons of it. Next time you come let me know and maybe we will go ride!
I was actually blown away looking at Trailforks around Vegas, it was really hard to choose where to ride. I almost went to Bootleg but ultimately went to Ike's. Anything in particular you'd recommend for next time? And definitely, I'll hit you up!
@@HobbyGoblinTyler Lets do it. Burbs: No Dabs, Tomahawk, Wicked Garden, Supply Chain, Shared Delusion. Over by blue diamond : Ebb and Flow. - Henderson/Mccullough: Trail Mix and Break it till you make it. Cowboy trails are fun. Britney Fears is a blast.
Awesome, I love the trail names out there! I’ll ping you next time I’m out that way.
My favorite place I've ridden a mountain bike so far. The terrain and features are tailor built for my style of riding. Not a huge emphasis on climbing/descents/speed. Big emphasis on technical skills.
Yeah I'm really excited to get back out here and explore more. I think interesting tech and rock features definitely make places more unique than flow and speed. Plus not a ton of elevation here so it's easy to hit a bunch of trails in one ride.
@@HobbyGoblinTylerYep, more time becoming a better rider and less time trying to become a fitter rider (aka dying hunched over your bars)
Love it
This guy should have much more subs and views!
Thanks I appreciate it! Got lots of videos coming up!
Very well done video 👏 very enjoyable to watch, good riding as well !
Thanks alot I appreciate it!
Nice video. Looks like a lot of fun. Were he trails marked pretty well? Did you bring your bike or rent? How long a drive out of Las Vegas was it.
Thanks! Yeah this place was very cool. There were some small trail signs that made it easy enough but with trailforks it was no problem. I brought my bike in my van. My drive from San Diego to Vegas was around 5 hours, not too bad for a holiday weekend trip!
Nice Video. We ride Black Mountain all the time. but we are on EMTB because i am Lazy.
Thanks! I'll definitely get an EMTB one day but for now I'm staying Analog. Whatever gets people riding!
