The massage was terrible, so I started getting suspicious. I immediately started screaming, and screaming at my friend to check his wallet. They called someone who gave my money back, and asked for his fake money. THE POLICE KNOWS ABOUT THIS SCAM, BUT I AM SURE THEY ARE PART OF IT.

I think that some of your negative experiences are the norm with the corrupt education system of Vietnam but also the fact that you are an African teacher makes it more difficult for you. I have been living in Vietnam for almost 5 years now. I have definitely had some similar negative experiences at some of the centers here but I have learned what to look for and how to be firm and not take no sh%t from the bosses. The salary we make here as foreigners compared to the locals is insane. Also the price of food and housing is so cheap that we can live quite comfortable with teachers salary. Every country you go to has its pros and cons. In my opinion the pros outweigh the cons.
