When I get myself organized, I think I that I'll buy another phone for everyday use and keep my current one in some kind of safe/vault. Really too much depends on it.
Bank transfers and OTP, identity confirmation, all of it, is at the government level. A bank isn't even allowed to change your information, passwords, or phone, after that initial registration.
So sorry to hear this, bro. This is really an eye-opener for us all. The government should just put it out there that Africans are not welcomed in Vietnam. This is serious discrimination, and both the Vietnamese government and the bank should be called out.

Africans have bad reputation in most of the countries of the world. Not only in Vietnam.
This is very common in Vietnam,that's why most people don't have account or rather don't put much money in their bank account. Even when you report a issue of fraud in your account and is about their citizen,they won't do anything. They'll just shut you up or tell you that the person is untraceable 🙂, Welcome to Vietnam.

Its nothing to do with being African. All foreigners trying to bank in Vietnam suffer the same, no matter their turn of phrase through google translate.
Even if you have documents showing that you are fully employed with work permits and all asked for supported documentation, registered residence, full TRC, Viet banks react to the whims of power from the top... that influence is hostile to any foreigners seeking success here. There may or may not be an actual criminal grift aspect to it as well in them simply keeping the funds.
I had my girlfriend change the phone number for the OTP and afterward found that the system didn't update it... one step away from the same situation.
I think that if you are Vietnamese then you have some support and can actually use a lawyer, but not on behalf of any foreigner.

In Vietnam a lot of Africans are coming, some of them pretend they are teaching and they really have visa but at the same time, money laundering, working illegally for companies.
You cant get your money back
