I enjoy good satire and it's hard to even discuss this show without someone getting defensive or trying to throw you into a group you're not apart of for calling it ham fisted. This stuff has taken over and almost completely usurped the plot.

9:40 Yep. I'm fine with it being political. The original comic was a great satire of politics, and was wildly over the top. This used to be a South Park like equal opportunity offender but now it feels like they are just taking real world issues and adding 'supe' to them and are trying way too much to mirror 1:1 what's going on. It's horribly damaged the show. This really started last season but it's even worse now. They've lost the art of allegory and I'd dare say all this stuff is now like 80% of the content with plot being like 20%.

The show has become noticeably more "woke" since Gen V, which I found to be a complete disaster that never should have been made. The critique of Christianity doesn't really fit the tone or flow of the show either and feels very shoehorned in, and in my opinion, this season feels different compared to the previous three. The introduction of a "right-wing" superhero seems redundant, especially after already dealing with a literal Nazi character in Stormfront. It feels like a rehash of previous themes, the general sloppiness was apparent in S3 but I think S4 turned it up to 11. There is no subtlety or nuance, so be prepared for the clichéd ham fisted social warrior woke BS. During the 2000s, we saw countless TV shows and games featuring Nazis or zombies, which became unoriginal and lazy. Allowing these influences to affect the brand is disappointing because The Boys has always had a unique edge but always had a good balance. I fear this season will be toned down due to the wrong people influencing it. So far, nothing significant has happened in the show, and I'm not left wondering, "What's going to happen next?" The execution has been lacklustre and sloppy. In seasons 1, 2, and 3, the pace was good, and you always wanted to see more. However, the first few episodes of this season have been underwhelming. TLDR: You can sense the pure hatred in this show already, there's no nuance or tact which is a real let-down and as a result I'll stop watching unless the next episode is improved; although after seeing that Gen V garbage fire I'm not surprised. The show goes out of it's way to bash right wing people, which derails the entire flow and plot. The Boys deserves to fail if Gen V and S4 & S5 are just going to be more of the same propaganda shown on TV and social media.

I always thought these guys were all for the woke stuff, it doesn't seem that woke imo, it's actually still good for the most part, but it's considered woke by the show creator. It's way lighter than the source material. I've checked the comic after watching the show, the show is light.

I absolutely love the first one and teared up when I saw it for the first time. But, I also really loved this new movie since being overwhelmed with anxiety is a very relatable feeling. I'm not saying that Martin is wrong for his opinion but I can tell he's not someone who is easily overwhelmed with anxiety (which is a good thing).

That will be in the final episode of the season. I predict it.

Just came back from it and this was easily the best Pixar sequel outside of the Toy Story movies Whilst not as good or as clever as the first film , and yeah Turning Red kinda ate it's lunch a bit, it still really worked as a logical throughline with it's premise and conclusion. I thought it was brilliant with what they did with Anxiety's end goal, very emotionally intelligent writing A return to form High Matinee.

Are folks finally realizing how paper-thin this story is? It survives by shock value alone.

I would have been so frustrated after only a few days of zero useable information my pissed off would have easily overpowered my fear. I love how they were trapped there for months and nobody seems concerned about where food and water for 4 grown people are coming from. Day 2 I would already be considering facing down whatever is out there has a higher chance of survival than continuing to just do the same thing. Day 3 I would be planning and coming to terms with the first person I was gonna have to inevitably end up eating just to have enough physical strength to continue “hunting and looking for water”. And the elephant in the room, we can survive longer with less people consuming portions of anything.
