They do a cool thing, but I wouldn't consider them as versatile as some of the other options. We do have a video of a Fano RB6 with broilers. The Firebird can be equated to a Strat-on-steroids in the neck position and a bit of a louder Tele thing in bridge position. One of our favorite combinations is a Firebird in the neck and a mini humbucker in the bridge. The mini humbucker is a little beefier than than the Firebird, but with less midrange than a full size humbucker. Goldfoils are cool but my personal experience is that they sound better clean than with dirt. The ones I've played have gotten a little hairy with overdrives or a dirty amp.

Right on, thanks for the response. I’m looking for something a bit jangly to play stuff like Smiths, Joy Division, REM, Cure, etc. I currently have the stock Fralin P90s in my Novo and they’re just way too mid-focused and aggressive for my particular style of playing. I’m typically a Jazzmaster/Jaguar/Strat kind of player.

@@whwh7339 The Firebirds would work very well for you then. And if you wanted a little more oomph in your bridge position then the pairing with the mini-humbucker bridge is the way to go. Just order the pickups with soapbar rings and you should have a pretty easy installation in place of your P-90s.

I don't remember 100%, but I have the feeling I was playing through my personal SamAmp VAC23 1x12 combo. Probably on the 18W setting which sits somewhere between Tweed Deluxe and Blackface Deluxe. Jensen Neo speaker.

Alder body, but sounded very much like mahogany. I think that was partially the reverse headstock "warming up" the lower strings because of the longer string length behind the nut. Ebony fretboard. We just put another one very much like it on order with Shabat, but in black. Although it could be shot in any color you'd like ;)

Hi Adam, I haven't opened up this particular one but I've seen others in the new series! Through-hole PCB with the real deal components all hand-soldered, not cheap surface-mounted stuff. So essentially what has changed is the connections from component to component are no longer individual wire leads, but rather pathways on a PC board. It's a monster of an amp, but has an equally-impressive clean side. The master volume is excellent. You can also get some different "feels" out of the amp by working the channel volumes low and the master higher, or vice versa to control how hard the power section is working.

Hi there, Mike did this video demo for us using one we had in stock. Do you have the new version of the Cub or a prior version? If you are looking for a 2-channel amp, I find the Black Cat to be a lot easier to dial in because you have separate volume (preamp gain) and master volume controls over each channel. The Cub has an overdrive switch which extends its flexibility well beyond that of a typical 1-channel amp, but the amount of "bump" you get is very dependent on where you are running your preamp control. With the Cub, you can do some tap dancing between two master volume settings to even things out but it's a little more involved than dialing the Black Cat, in my opinion.

I have the most recent 30w Cub and I really like It. I'm on my Winter break from my band and go back in April so I haven't used it live. One thing I noticed is that when switching masters with the foot switch theirs an audible pop in the speaker. I contacted Bad Cat and was shocked when the response from John was. I'm to busy to help you, reach back out in a month. I've never in 4 decades of playing professionally and buying gear been treated that way. I really like the amp but might just sell it out of principal. he could have easily said I'll send you another foot Switch to try and see if that's the culprit and just send him one back, but no. It was bad treatment. If the FS had soft silent switches it would probably avoid that issue.@@GuitarsToBePlayed

@@howardcox2918they rock! Little different vein, but we’re stoked with what Bad Cat is doing. The Hot Cat model is our favorite of the lineup. Not going for the Dumble thing, but still an exceptionally versatile amp and about half the price

I have this amp and I feel no need for pedals either. At some point I'll plug them in to see what happens but haven't yet found the need. The reverb is so incredibly good, reverb is a secondary thing in my opinion but this one is insanely good.

@@TeleCaster66 I agree with you there brother! As soon as you find all the nuances at the tip of your fingers and via the volume and tone controls on the guitar, anything else becomes a bit unecessary! If you've got a video of it in action, send us the link! Would love to see/hear.

how it for home use?

@@suqies In my opinion, surprisingly good! It has an excellent master volume and the ratio controls on the back can also be used to tame the volume. I find it still sounds very full and dynamic at home-friendly volumes.
