Love this dude; I would like to have a shirt just like his Boxing Night shirt; if anyone knows where to find one please let me know.
When he talks about wood he sounds like Acarpenter
One of the true blues greats.
Mike is such an inspiration to me. Hearing Bakersfield after not listening to this record for a while reminds me how different this album is. Even more autobiographical than normal. More rock than punk. But for a 55 year old dad of 2 so perfect!! Thanks Mike and Social D!!!!🤘🤘🤘🤘⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️. One day we’ll play together.
I was never an SD fan growing up but now at the age of 55 I am and discovered I have virtually the same thinking and attitude as Mike Ness…..just an original guy. Nothing pretentious about him, what you see is what you get. The same can be said about his music.
Billy Duffy will forever be a God in my book! I have one of his signature Gretsch White Falcons which I ate bean soup and sandwiches for months to save up for and it has been worth EVERY penny!
The guy is simply one of the best songwriters of all time!!!!!!! Straight up great American Rock n Roll music!!!!!!!
Nessi, so clad You are!!!!
Absolute Legend Cool is a understatement
I love his honesty...
They (Social D) need their 'respect' to what they have provided musically...I have been a fan for over 30 years and it is Raw and it is REAL!
Nester...your music has driven me thru some real hard times as well ...just recently got clean and dry m trudging.....S.D. KEEPS ME PUSHIN'
Nessi ❣️
Blues harp player! Love this band! On cordless and tone…. He’s right . I stay plugged in and keep the cordless mechanism in the box . Definitely a difference in tone!
You can hear the drugs in every sentence. I love D.
One of my favorite guitar tones from Mike is from one of his self titled albums and the song is called Dope Fiend Blues. Such a sick guitar tone.
Jesus… Billy is captivating… Great stories…
It’s sad to see the difference in the quality of building materials between 1940 to present day. I work in homes all in that range of years and I’ll tell you they don’t build like they use too. We live in a disposable society.
They should only do real guitars on the show. I had a speracial experience as well and God told me “WTF is he talking about”! I said back…yeah everyone thinks they are a Rock Star these days, Good job!
True talent and a man with a lot of life experience. Wish I could meet him once.
Mike Ness was the only other dude in the London Exchange when I got my Doc Martins in 85. He had just gotten his spiderweb tattoo, and fresh out of some rehab. Didn't talk to him, just gave him a nod- I was only 15. Good times. Punk rock in the early 80s was the best, before the infestation of emo, self loathing, grunge stuff.
At 47:35 I get it. My acoustic bass has more feeling on punk and rock than any of my electrics. I can get more emotion out more than noise
"However, I do try to...Well I don't, I'm really lazy, you know, I don't like to practice scales and I don't do any of that shit"
Judge not. Understand. Mike will STOP a show in the first millisecond; to correct a f*d up scene; its SOCIAL d is it not? Get out if you cant handle thee truth, junior.
I met mike ness at rhino records when I was a young teenager in the mid 1990s. I was wearing a social distortion shirt and some guy just said to me “nice shirt” I simply said “thanks” and then the rhino records employee came up to me and said- “do you know that was like ness?” Completely went over my head 😂 and did not expect to see him at the music store.
I come back to this video and rewatch it every year or so. It's one of my favorites. Mike has influenced me and my life in more ways than I initially realized
back when - going to a social d show you KNEW you they were gonna kick your teeth in! then some years ago ness just fkkin gave up - stage energy evaporated, whole band was turned down, could've slept thru the set. a damn shame 😑
He’s got killer tone live and recorded!
just the way he stands with the guitar is so cool
Quanta emoção, quantas estórias, vibrações altamente energéticas.....MAKE ONE 👚T-SHIRT 'SOCIAL DISTORCIAN', FOR ME❓🥰ok❓
tão gostoso ver Mike Ness contar suas histórias, a gente ( apesar do virtual), põe bem pertinho e se sente no sofá ao lado dele, muito muito bom 👍👏👏👏👏👏🎶🎵🎼🔊🥰
Mike Ness might be the coolest person ever
Where do you think Jimi Hendrix got it? Buddy Guy.
I was listening to him
I have the Blues. Your dam right I have the Blues. Cause I've never seen Buddy Guy LIVE. I will in the near future see Buddy Guy LIVE.😊 I have 4 of his CDs. 😊
fucking awesome
I met Mike in 1981 at the Backstage on 4th ave Tucson Az. I played the club in my girlfriends dads band SEA on other nights. I helped them load out. They all was still bleeding for the show. The late bass player was driving a new mini truck with California plates. So I told Mike I was from Fullerton. He said so am I. We both went to Troy high school and got kicked out and went to La Vista continuation school. lol he gave me there first 45 with Mommy’s Little Monster A side and Under My Thumb the Stones. Wish I still had it today. Mike is a fkn badass
My 14 yr-old knows who Buddy Guy is. I credit a great performance by @JoeBonamassaTV & Co we attended with sparking his interest. Now... we've got just a few months to see Mr. Guy on his last tour. Thank you, Mr. Guy, for being you.
You just inherited!!! Les Paul Mr. mike Ness
Thank you for sharing... This is unbelievable
Men,i love his shoes..I want a pair
Wonderful. Thank you for this lovely upload. Such a legend. Great to hear him in his own words.
Such a beautiful interview!
Wow. Met my ex-wife at Ichabod's in Fullerton.
Probably one of the best gigs ever seen , in N Y C Irving Plaza !
Alguien puede subtitular esto a español??😊
I've watched this so many times. hahaha. At least 20-30 if not more.
Tom DeLonge- The Pursuit of Tone brought me here and I’m so glad it did.
Butch is the reason I wanted to play guitar. Never worked a day in my life. Thank you Butch!!
I would love to know how he goes about integrating Native American-sounding melodies into the music they write. Things like ”ceremony”, “white”, “ sweet soul sister”… I can’t think of any other band that does that. Long Live The CULT
