Not a huge one but an interesting one nonetheless.

The fog thickens and the plot along with it. The weird way of Estelle walking in the nighttime scene was because they didn't make running animation for her pajama model, so while running she was using walking animation with running speed, i.e. multiple times too fast for its intended use. Not much to add other than that "lady in black" is a very misleading description of that character. Once you see her, I doubt you would call her "lady in black". It is strange that Elissa described her as such.

I found it SUPER cute how they gave Estelle slippers during the sleepover. It's one of those adorable little details other dev's often forget to add. 😊

I actually never saw the chocolate scene before, really a hidden gem you found there (Although tbf there is similar stuff in later games, so always be on the lookout). Just goes to show how lifelike and interesting the NPCs in these games are.

One of the best non-S-craft skills to use on a Sepith-Up turn bonus is the Aerial art. It hits a bunch of times AND hits an AOE. Otherwise, Estelle's, Schera's and Tita's S-crafts are a massive flurry of hits that turn a monster into a sepith fountain, especially when combined with the Septium Vein quartz, which amplifies the effect. Combo crafts can also be used. Yeah, Zosimov was the NPC underneath the tree I warned about. Some people walked around for nearly an hour before finding him. Taking Olivier on the cat-quest actually results in a pretty funny moment when Schera seduces the crewman and he gets pissed off. ("My envy is fathomless!!!") Kloe and Tita seem to have pajama-portraits purely for this scene. This was before Falcom went to 3D and was forced to start cutting corners. The chocolate-part is just flavor, with no further effects, but it IS a nice extra little scene.

Kyoto looks just so prosperous and utopian it's nerve wrecking in this context! And remember: Before the Beta showed up humanity was on a timeline that was actually a lot better than the one we live in. They had an international moon base in the seventies! It must be because of that head start they have been able to endure the invasion for so long....

42:15 Blue is the color for the five noble Regent Houses, which are the reserves for shogun candidates. Takamura House has blood relation with one of the Regent House but it is not a noble Regent House. Man, I would like to see Yui become Shogun but sadly, it could never happen.

Poor Yui, the flashbacks. I watched the Total Eclipse anime back in 2012, the first few episodes show part of the content in The Imperial Capital Burns, since then I am a fan of Muv Luv. Glad they wrote and translated the whole story.

So in this timeline, the Shogunate was never overthrown by and thus the Samurai caste under the Shogun still hold de facto governing powers over the Emperor until their surrender to the US (without nukes dropped on them), where it moved towards a civilian government. The Imperial Royal Guard is manned by these legacy samurai houses, whose "caste level" has been frozen for awhile now. At a surface level they are ordered as below: 1. The Emperor (a figurehead for the legitimacy of Shogunate rule) 2. The Shogun [Purple] 3. The Lords of the Great Houses - the Shogun is elected from amongst their members [Blue] 4. The Higher ranked Houses that Yui belongs to [Yellow] 4. Direct retainers to the Great Houses like Tsukuyomi [Red] 5. The lower houses and rank and file samurai families [White] 6. Honorary members of the IRG not of samurai heritage [Black] There is plenty of hierarchy even within each level. And the level of intermarriage, sub-families can really affect ones standing. Maintaining standing/image amongst peers and being dignified to the lower ranks is an actual necessity, and a complete pain.

iirc the first divergence of key events making Muv-Luv verse its own was the Meiji restoration didn't move Japan's capital to Edo (Tokyo), hence Kyoto was still the capital up until this point in Teito Moyu. Another key event before BETA encounter, was Japan besieged in 1945 instead of being atomic bombed twice. This resulted in the preservation of naval vessels including the Yamato-class BBs, and the ratification of a vassal/defense treaty between Japan and the US. This treaty becomes a point later on.

IMO, this backstory is the reason why Yui SHOULD HAVE BEEN the main character in Total Eclipse. I feel she was sidelined to make way for Yuuya and Cryska. With the current setup, I’m picturing a future TE story where both Yuuya and Yui are the MCs on equal footing.

Before I forget like I did last time. JB's "Prancing Horse" is a Ferrari 360 Modena. So a Ferrari not a Mustang, although that would be cool to hear she imported an American car over. The start of Sachi's past! If I had to take a guess I would probably say were about a quarter into it, so we have much more to go through yet. Always nice to see good parents, even for a moment. Don't worry about stopping here. If we had to take a break during the backstory, here is probably one of the better places actually. Depending on the length of the next episode we should be able to finish it in the next one or be really close to it. Depending on the length of the episode. If you find a comfortable place to end it then do that instead of trying to force it all in one.

You can't buy bait from stores in this game. (aside from one instance very, very late in the game and it requires you to reel in the biggest fish possible) The only consistent way to get bait it from monster drops. The accessories in the forest are part of a precedent set in this game: namely the game gives you accessories against specific ailments as a subtle hint that a boss you run into later will use those same ailments. Zin's True Distend craft deserves some mention. It bumps his Str and Def stats by a whopping 60%, more than twice the amount you can get from the La Forte/La Crest arts and three times the boost you can get from Estelle's Morale craft. Make sure not to accidentally override this one's effects. Those shoes you picked up in the Esmelas Tower, the Duende Slippers, are worth keeping around even after you get to the next chapter because the Ats boost they give, +100, is gigantic. It turns a middling caster into a solid one and it turns Kloe into a magical nuke. The effect from the Scent quartz is indeed cancelled out by the Haze quartz or the YinYang quartz, which makes it a very useful piece of quartz to put on due to its wide elemental coverage as long as you remember to always have someone with Haze/YinYang in your party. Zeram Powders and Capsules are like the Elixir items from the Trails universe. Very rare, very useful and never available in stores. Did you check out the Guild board again after receiving the coma victims mission from the mayor? This is Trails being sneaky again. (oh, and the hard-to-find npc in that mission is under a tree near the airport... just to save you a LOT of searching. It's also worth bringing Olivier along)

Killer fog, you can wonder what would be next... Rinon's mom adventure is one of my favorite NPC stories. I especially like how she went to the capital, couldn't find anyone and just as she gave up and went home, she offered sheltered to the girl grounded by the fog out of the goodness of her heart without seeing her as a potential wife candidate and possibly found an ideal match without even realizing it. Speaking of NPCs, too bad you missed the guy at the airport. He always rates the attractiveness of one of the girls in your party depending on your team rooster (spoiler: he gives Kloe 100 points out of 100), which is funny and causes a classic Estelle's reaction. I think that fishing spots you have fished at before starting the quest are automatically recorded to the notebook at the start of the quest, so that is why you didn't get the message while fishing at the Bright's house a second time. The vision of fishing cultist swarming Estelle's house to engage in their "lessons" can become a nightmare fuel - only now did I realize that maybe she shouldn't report that particular spot to them? I've noticed that, surprisingly, Estelle has more EP points than Kloe. Maybe you should invest in opening some slots for your characters first. There is little point in giving them access to these high-tier spells if they run out of EP after a single casting (plus, newer tiers of quartz make lower tiers obsolete, so spending too much on non-highest tier quartz is a bit of a waste in the long run) .

Farming sepith is simple, just look at the combat notebook and fight monsters that drop the highest number of the sepith you want. Make use of any sepith bonus turns which make enemies drop extra sepith per hit they take, using Estelle's single target S-craft or an Aerial spell on a lucky sepith drop bonus turn can give you a lot of extra sepith from just one fight because of the high hit count on those attacks, though the Aerial spell is harder to time correctly. If you'd rather not farm, just keep an eye on the sepith drops of monsters you encounter from now on and make use of those sepith bonus turns with multi-hit attacks

Each time you talk about the fishing guild being like a "cult" i feel a mild sense of amusement because....well, it will still be a looong wile before we get to THAT..... Anyway, the plot thickens just like the fog. Whose foil will we face this time? I think it's pretty blatant.

Don't really have too much too add outside of what is covered in the stream and the other titles, other than do check out the Kyoto add on story! If there's one thing I do disagree on its the read on Weller's character. The investigation on the XFJ Programme was by the DIA which is hell bent on not letting top secret tech leak to Japan, and they are ready sink US-JP relations to do it. They did know that the active stealth systems and JRSS was installed in Yuuya's unit, and the planned testing by the Infinities would have doomed the project for certain. The opposing faction from the CIA, which Weller belonged to were opposed to jeopardising US-JP relations (the main goal). Weller IS manipulating Yuuya to carry out the CIA's goal, but it is not so subtly alluded to that he is trying to aid Yuuya as much as he can due to some relations with the General and Bridges family, while towing the party line without them being the wiser. In the end he offered Yuuya the option save the XFJ Programme, and a way to save Cryska (remember our boy was ready to storm the Soviets solo) and provide protection after the fact. When Yuuya broke from the plan, he stalled the CIA from immediately dropping the net on Yuuya and put a positive spin on his actions. Like Sandek, he already succeeded when he got the Shiranui 2nd away from DIA, and whatever outcome happened was acceptable, even Yuuya going Awol. Yuuya does appreciate the bone Weller had given him at the final chapter, even if he knows he is being used. Regardless, all the events put Yuuya in place in Kamchatka to save Operation Cherry Blossom in the end. The beautiful strangeness of fate in the franchise.

Fun fact: The ending song for Akane’s route - “Itsuwaranai Kimi e” is written by Ryukishi07, the author of Lucia’s route. The first half of the song also fits Lucia very well. So you’re right about Akane/Lucia being associated like Chihaya/Shizuru. Also…. (Spoilers) . . . . Both Akane and Lucia take a massive amount of lives at the climax of their routes. I like the way Akane’s route handled it much better though, because it gave Kotarou and Akane powerful consequences for what happened. Whereas Lucia’s actions aren’t really focused on and sort of brushed off.

Well, that was faster than what I thought, but I ain't complaining There's so much to talk about and so many things I want to say and see your opinion on it, but I will wait till the after of the finale As for the akane and sizuru route, honestly I didn't see anyone knows how to express and analysis In such a In depth yet entertaining way like you, I enjoyed that part beacuase of how well-delivered It was Still, these 5 routes have a lot to be said about, but we'll have to finish the true routes first overall, rewrite discuss various cases that I personally think Is pretty interesting, from the human relationships to the state of the earth and how humans feels about that kazamatsuri Is a city that I definitely wouldn't mind to live on it, It made me notice much things about the eco-system and love the vibes of the deep of the forests, which also make me realizes how terrifying It can be. one last thing, as much as I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on the routes and the heroines, I wish that we can sink more deeply into kotarou's personality and analysis he's character, cause I noticed that there's many people who missed much things on him, and I genuinely think that he's my favorite VN protagonist, even though I didn't think like that at the start but he grows on me. Also moon route let's gooo, i've been waiting for this as always take your time, there's no need to rush, Thank your for your hardwork.

Schwarzemarken is a prequel that is, from what i heard, just extremely bleak. I'm not sure how enjoyable it will ultimately be but i'll still buy it if they bring it out. Then we still need to get "Resonative". The final part of TDA that will, if the pattern i see holds true, lead directly into Takeru waking up at the beginning of Alternative with JUST enough of his memories to make the difference. I'm sure even that little change will take a massive toll on the TDA cast but it must happen... And finally we should get "Integrate" where we get a true sequel to Alternative that will "integrate" all the side stories. I look forward to watching all those new characters being brutally murdered. 😐 (I hope they will make Akane the protagonist!) And i'm being a broken record if i state Yui is best my girl because she's a humble badass with skill, brains, integrity and UNBEARABLY INTENSE TSUNDERE ENERGY. She's up there with Kurisu for me. Much alike too, if you think about it. As for Yifei, it's just a personal preference for me that very extroverted love interests, wile certainly wonderful, would drain me of all mental energy in a couple of minutes if i were to actually hang out with one IRL. (Thats why Estelle will never be my "waifu" either, even tough i adore her immensely.)

The end at last, and while the road here was baffling. Its clear that they tried to make a memorable capstone experience for approaching the Unity. It might be strange to say, but I'm content with this finale.

I think this is the 30's time that I come back to this video and watch the whole beginnig scene, same when I finish a route and start another. It's just hits right in the feels after every route and really give me the true "rewrite" concept that we should redo everything once again and hopefully we will do better this time, as if we got another chance In life and we need to not mess things up this time. Though, I love to go on a blind playthrough In the common route since I can chill there with almost every character I love without any of the "bad stuff" that happens In the routes. If I have to say what is the most thing that got my attention to rewrite I will say that they made me fell in love with the characters and the vibe of daily routen as a memeber of the ORS. (also the ost/voice actors/etc) . Key studio never fail to drag me into their VN's and love every second of them (Air/Clannad/Kanon/Summer pockets/Stella of the end/Angel beats/ and of course : Rewrite) Shout out to everyone who allowed us to witness such a great games and share it's joys with others, and that's includes you too Thank you , @TheBlueShifting ❤

The childhood friend reveal! Grisaia as a whole is pretty good about Chekhov's gun, but Sachi's route in particular is good. It will plant seeds that will sprout later, even small offhand comments might end up being important. We're only just getting started so sit back and keep on enjoying the ride! P.S. I want to defend those "weird" offhand remarks that Yuuji makes, but unfortunately it's heavily based in spoilers so all I can say is please keep playing Grisaia honestly haha. Not everything Yuuji does is excusable, (such as the comment said in this video) but at least you know why he does have these extreme moments. A.K.A: Not accepting but understanding.

59:33 Not sure if you remember, but back in the very beginning when Yuuji first meets Sachi, he tells her to call him whatever she wants. She thinks about it and decides on ‘Yuu-kun’, which Yuuji shoots down and just tells her to call him ‘Yuuji’

Man, you managed to beat Mueller on your first try! That fight is an optional win (game proceeds without changes even if you lose) and it took me four times to win. Maybe I wasn't using Clock Down back then and that is why it was so difficult for me? Still, you were lucky that bonuses fell right into your turns and S-breaks and that Mueller didn't use his strongest attacks several times in a row (he even missed one!). Olivier gets more and more interesting. He acts like such a buffoon, but he is way more insightful than you would expect at the first glance. Who knows, maybe he even is a dangerous psycho like the guy in the airship said?! You're confusing Armand with Anton... again. 😁 Mean sidequests in Trails in the Sky SC, episode X: the fishing quest can be finished early, but you cannot 100% complete it before beating the chapter boss. Yup, to obtain full marks you have to resolve the entire main plot of the chapter before reporting back to the quest giver. Only those devious cultists could think of a quest like that!

No, Astray was Joshua's actual last name before he adopted the Bright surname. (you might have noticed his status/equip screen also said Joshua Astray during this section) To be honest, I didn't even notice any keyboard/mouse sounds while listening to these episodes. Anton and Ricky are some of the more well-known NPCs from the Sky arc. Keep them in the back of your mind. Armand was the guy you saw in Rolent during FC's prologue waffling about talking to a girl there. (which was Ellie) Just before Estelle, Joshua and Schera set off for Bose, he managed to work up the courage to ask her out and she agreed. I believe they were seen again in Grancel near the end of the game spending time together. Their main schtick is their tendency to be sickenly sweethearts towards one another, regardless of who is near, as shown by the heart in their signature. A little note about the fishing spot search sidequest you just saw on the board, this is another one of those few "don't try to finish this quest too early"-sidequests. In order to finish this sidequest with max BP and get all the fishing spots, you must actually wait until the semi-start of the next chapter because the final fishing spot is in the spot where you fight the chapter boss, meaning you can't actually interact with it until you're about ready to head to the next region. In other words, don't worry about turning that sidequest in for the time being.

'The mist demons target' is probably the society experiment which is the scariest concept of them all for me, you'll know what I mean once you start investigating... Also the fishermans cult is spreading its influence to our beloved rural town, so not only the main plot is advancing in a scary direction! It has been a long time since we really could explore Rolent and the vibe this time around is decidedly different as your last visit, enjoy?!

Here we are, back in cozy town. Some pretty wholesome moments ahead in this arc! But i feel like i should issue a few warnings right now: I have been playing Nayuta and all i can say about it is to NOT look up anything about that game. Especially screenshots. Some things you will not be able to un-see so ignore this game at least until you completed the cold steel arc. That means it will take a little wile. 🙃 Also: The next time Bleublanc shows up, be ARMED TO THE TEETH. Because something about that quest is totally busted and i feel like you should be prepared...

Congrats on finishing Lucia route! Ill say I probably have to agree that while I did like her route its probably my least favorite of the five main routes, still enjoyed it though. Might be a bit premature of a question since the true route is pretty long but do you have any ideas on what you will play after rewrite to replace its slot?
