Just bought these. Was torn between these and the cap toe version. Already have a pair of the Waxed Java Flesh and Iron Rangers so went with these for when I want a less workwear type outfit. I think they will be perfect for fall out here in Colorado. What drew me to the cap toe version was the honey commando sole. I wish these would have came with that sole but I do like that they are softer than the commando sole. I will probably end up getting the cap toe version eventually lol.

@@luckydc3761 I don’t know. I wouldn’t want to ask anyways. I don’t t want to use my channel as leverage to get anything out of anyone. My intention for my channel is to show boots I like and talk about them, not to become an affiliate marketing or advertising platform for boot companies.

is the hand-lasted double row welt thicker than the machine (stichdown) in whites? the welt looks huuge...
@@ggggggggggggggggg1 the shelf on these is 13mm. The shelf on those stitchdown stockmans is 12mm.

Nice boots! I wondered who was making the hand-welted boots for them. If it is Jakkrabbits then I’m confident in the quality. I have two pairs from them and they are beautiful terrific boots.

@@semchawaheb-jx7gj There are some really fine creases. I have to almost have the boot touching my nose to see them. It really mostly flexes at those fissures. Almost like it comes pre-creased.

Wow, beautifully classy. The stitching around the welt is really pleasing. I hope to see them again with wear and aging. Really gorgeous leather. I bet it really is pig skin....love it. I remember growing up wearing grey Hush Puppy pig skin shoes that had the same short suede fuzz, etc.
It’s American Wild Boar which technically is pig skin from pigs that have been escaped and become feral. There are videos on here about the pig to wild boar transformation. It’s fascinating to see this process. Wild Boar are have become an invasive species in North America. These hides are a bi-product from cullings
@@chrisofthew Thanks. Yes, I'm a hunter and well aware of hunting them and how destructive they are. Glad some of the hides are being used. I've had their meat and it's pretty good.
@@rickc4317Gallun also uses deer hides from hunts in the Midwest. I thinks it’s super cool they are turning these bi-products into cool looking leather!
@@chrisofthew I have an elk hide jacket and deer hide vest from some I harvested. My wife and I hunt for the meat for our freezer and don't care about antlers. 🙂 Great to learn about them using some of the hides, which usually goes to waste, unfortunately. I researched Gallun, as I'm not familiar with them. What a great story. Thanks for the info.

I like the simple look of those boots. Everything looks excellently finished, they take their time on the little things.
I feel the nick’s embody the original idea of the service boot the best. They are tough, rugged, durable, and very hard wearing. Also the fact that they’re finished like a work boot works in their favor to meet the aesthetic. People have just misconstrued the idea of a dress boot in this day and age. Is there an easy way to swap the hooks out for eyelets through nicks or do I have to do the custom option?
@@joshuaslosser6988 Yeah you would need to go the custom route. I don’t know if Nicks would swap them for you outside of a rebuild or something like that. But just about any cobbler can do it. There are also videos showing how to do it yourself.
@@aChannelAboutBoots I do personally know how to do it but it would be such a cleaner job if they just came with the eyelets from the factory.
Curious about the wear/patina look they have already. Is it just from handling them?

Oil them when you first get them. Then use wax paste shoe polish.

@@aChannelAboutBoots as one person who’s pondering the black hole of Viberg, I salute you.
I wonder if those spots on your boots are related to the salt and mineral content in the snow from people salting the sidewalks during the winter. I know that can happen to leather boots. Vinegar will get that salt out. It may be a little harder to get it out if it’s set in the Obernauf wax, but it should still work its way out with persistent, careful application of vinegar. Saphir sells a product called Hiver-Winter Detachant Stain Remover, but that’s just overpriced (white) vinegar, as far as I know. Use the clear, white vinegar, don’t use red wine or apple cider vinegar which could stain your boots. If you do try it, just do it on a little spot first to test. Good luck! Those boots are beautiful! Muschio means moss in Italian. That’s the color that leather is supposed to be. A mossy gray, green.

@@toneohm Maybe it's a combination of buying them during a big sale and it was through Baker's which is known to double check the QC before shipping them out. But tbh I don't think much of it since I already have a decent rotation of boots. Just want to try the arch support which I've heard gives you better posture

I do like these.. they can be pretty cheap second hand. simple, classy plain toe. but think of the value difference if they just did all leather. it would put it worlds ahead by doing the cordovan justice.. ppl want a semi casual dress cordovan boot that's all leather.. doesn't have to be a PNW beast of material.. thin works for casual and comfort.. but still., if it was only all leather.. it would really be a huge boost.. I don't want to buy Grant Stone casual dress boots.. id much rather support Alden and/or Allen Edmonds.. if only they just did it right.. and ill still likely never bother getting GS boots.. even though there's a couple I really like. i like the Brass boot, i like their Moc toe.. the Ottawa... but 2 out of 3 of those are Alden knock off designs anyway.. same with the Diesel.. and ppl can say the owners are American but it still doesn't change the fact that they outsourced to China.. not that im completely against buying anything from China, it nearly impossible not to.., I just gravitate toward other brands.. even White's, despite being Japanese owned now.., i still consider them my favorite boot brand of all
Maybe I’m dumb but, how do you actually do an MTO directly thru whites, do you need to call them? Couldn’t really make it out on their site
@@HomeDrummer55 Yup, you have to call them. A lot of the options that you can do aren’t really listed anywhere, too. So you have to ask a lot of if you can do something and be prepared to hear no a lot. Really isn’t an efficient way of doing things.

I wonder why lead times for Baker's are so long. I'm still waiting on a pair of semi-dress I ordered from them on black Friday. I think in the future, I'll only order through them if they have an exclusive leather or something like that. I love the half sole on these, too. Nicks is now discontinuing their half sole 'cause of sizing issues on anything too big, I guess. It's good to see that White's doesn't have a problem with it.

@aChannelAboutBoots Nothing fancy, just brown dress leather with a lowered block heel. I emailed Baker's 2 weeks ago, and they said White's might take a while to respond to them because of the sale going on at the time. I'll have to follow up with them.

Nice!! Really like your taste. The Semi dress has grown on me. Swing last is interesting.. I dig burgundy And really want something with a half V bar.. I like Double Shot. It's not as shiny as CXL but it's nice.. Very impressed to hear the lead times. I just did my first MTO Bountys, can't wait!

@@aChannelAboutBoots hey,, yes I bought the Bounty's with the Fathers Day sale.., I was gonna go all out and get natural Maryam.. but I bailed and did natural CXL instead. i did some subtle two toning with a lineman patch and didn't want to spend all that on the Maryam and not use it all. I also used the Father's Day sale as intended hah,, bought my dad some Springdale's.. he's not really into boots like me, so I figured it would be a good entry boot.. something a little lighter and shoe-like for him. I was going hard on boots lately hah, just did a video on horsehide Mr. Lou's.. and will have another up of the same boots you got, the Division Road MP Stone Rambler.. first time getting the MP in an E width. fits nicely. Btw, have you ever noticed an 'off' smell that you get with lined boots. I got lined Oak Street Jump boots in Badalassi that are lined and have a plastic-like shower curtain smell.. and i think its the lining.. bc the Stone Ramblers have that smell too.. is that just a lined boot thing?? like how they finish the calf skin or the adhesive or something...? i don't like it.. lol it takes away from the 'good leather smell' you get otherwise. I selected for the Bounty's to be lined so hopefully they don't smell like that too.. Baker's couldn't seem to specify the tannery that the leather lining is from unfortunately..

Whites spaces it apart too much IMO. Nicks, Wesco, and even Franks do a better job IMO. Makes boots not look so wide.

Haha good luck man. There are lots of Reddit posts of the different leathers if you want to see what they look like you can just do a google search. Same thing for soles. I also have a video of me testing a bunch of soles on a wet tile floor if you want to see what they look like. Now would be an awesome time to get your first one because of the sales going on.
It literally says that the dubbing is "archival" and "not for civilian use". Disgusting
I really like the front part the shape of the unstructured toe and vamp and how the upper kinda covers the welt looks really similar to the original ww2 roughout service boots it even has the rivets on the uppers.
