I would love a thorough comparison between the Frank's and White's wedge sole offerings.. fit, feel, finish, over time.. i know they're technically the same last,, but im sure there's nuance differences.. that would be a great video bc i was debating the two for months, literally.. lol so it may help someone out in the future who's also trying to make a decision like that,, thanks again
hey hey,, look who it is hah,, i decided to looking into the 2021 and 2060.. and your channel was first to come up.. any thought on an update video? ordered Frank's Rainier boots the other week with the 2021 sole.. 55 last.. the other wedge sole i have is a pair of Thorogood Mocs.. so id like to learn more about the comparison on specifically the 2021 and 2060.. i see the visual differences but curious to get ppls feedback under foot.. regarding comfort and such..,,, thanks for the video! useful topic for sure * edit.. later in the video, I realized they were Rainiers lol.., great taste,, these wedge 55 builds look great with rough out admittedly.. (im usually not big on rough out) .., but I still think a more grainy or rough leather looks best for them to keep it casual looking.., like waxed flesh is that perfect in between.. had i not done the Rainier .. I'd def gone with the White's CS-350.. (Rambler type) with cinnamon waxed) the designs Division Road often choose really swayed my opinion on wedge sole styling.. how about that one CF stead leather they did recently? i forget the leather.. something rare.. thing it was elk.. what a neat looking texture that was one distinguishing feature i'll note.. the Frank's mid sole / lineman is generally a light color.. but White's seems to do theirs with a darker tanned leather for that lineman shank n all... found that interesting.. and its very dependent on what leather you get.. some leathers.. the lighter oak tanned mid sole would be good and other times, I'd want it the darker tan.. overall,, I like the darker White's version.. it matches up with more things imo.. draws less attention..
Great idea. There'll be lot of people that can a learn a lot from your comparison. I'm looking forward to seeing the results. I vote for the Franks to be in the test. So, I'm sure you've thought of this, wear one sole on the left foot and the other sole on the right foot. You can tell people that notice that you're doing it for science. Wear a lab coat if need be.
Haha all the people I work with already think I’m a weirdo for wearing all sorts of different boots constantly. A lab coat and a different boot on each foot would just be icing on the boot science cake.
By wearing them out do you mean smoothed the bottoms completely or like all the way into the slip sole? Cause if you wore them to the slip sole in 6 months you are my new internet hero.
I have the christy and work on concrete, the tread wore off completely in 6 months time, and thats on a rotation where I only wear them 3 days a week. I was actually considering the 2021 when I resole, but maybe I just need to say screw wedge soles and go for a lug.
This will be really interesting. I noticed that 2021 should be oil resistant. I get always mixed answers about Christy sole but it is used in construction so a lot of people assume it is. I hope you could update on that too
great video. i much prefer 2120 and 2060 to christy sole. they are lighter, more flexible and more comfortable. by my "tests" 2120 wears out slightly faster but the comfort is worth it to me
I have a pair of those British tan grizzly’s and the 20 last just isn’t wide enough for me. Bruise the top of my feet pretty gnarly but after a couple of months, it’s finally starting to relax. Since it was really tight at the ball, the flex/creasing is at the sprung end of the toe and looks extra goofy and clownish to me now lol whatever. 79 in EE from Truman is perfect though. Best last for my feet that I’ve found yet. Love the rainier as well. I want a mocha roughout. How was the sizing from the rainier to a 79 last for you? Would love to hear how your brother in law is enjoy his Jim greens too. Take care.
I wear the same size in both. But I can wear an 11E on the 55 last, too. I just prefer the feel of the 11.5D. I’ll ask my BIL about the Jim greens next time I see him. Oh and your CZcams name always gives me the giggles whenever you comment. Kudos. Thanks for watching the videos, man.
Really slept on those new Grizzly mocs, had the older version (Cattail Roughout) loved them but sold em due to sizing being small. Sucks they wont be bring either back..

The different feet might wear the soles differently, though.
Truman moc toes boots are a tank. It’s truman for me next nicks in heavy duty.
very interested in an update on this. i need to wear the same.
The Franks boots are very handsome!
I think they’re a good looking boot, also. Thanks for watching the video!
I had the sand 2021 Wore them out in 6 months doing hvac. Im gonna get the christy whenever I get them in for resole

Do the white's!
Whites boots please. The tan rouguout leather is gorgeous and will patina well. Added incentive to watch this " sole-ful" drama .
Noted. Thanks for the pun and watching the video.

Thanks for watching. Yeah the comfort factor of the 2021 would definitely be a trade off worth making if that is super important to you.
@@aChannelAboutBoots i walk and hike alot and i'm old. i'm done with heavy-ass boots

I like your curiosity in testing out different boots. Do you have a favorite maker? Your collection seems to be wide.
Hi. I love White’s the most. Just because they were my first big purchase after my first fire season 20+ years ago. So I have a soft spot for them.
In my line of work, 2021 lasted about 2 months before the groves started fading.
Cristy soles lasted about a year before fading.
Yeah the tread under the ball of my foot is already starting to smooth out on the 2021.
You should try the Vibram Morflex wedge sole next when you get your boots resoled. It’s bouncy and gives you the little trampoline feel when walking.
2120 is a morflex
@@edrader 2120 and 2021 are different Vibram wedge soles with different compounds.

Yeah it’s a shame. They are a cool boot. Don’t know why they weren’t a good seller for them.
Have you seen Red Wing’s Vibram Wedge sole?
@@georgehsiao2791 I have a pair of 1907s. Don’t know if it is an actual Cristy but it seems really similar.
The Outsole on Red Wing Traction Tred Lite Work Boots are insane
