    I’ve used a A8A for two years and I must say it has been glitchy with EARC at times I don’t get sound and distortion on occasion. The two ch performance isn’t even close (I have a McIntosh C2600 (Has Ht passthru) n two monoblock amps for my fronts for my two ch music listening and when I switch over it’s better by a night and day difference. But overall it’s great for home theater however it is to be noted if you are planing on using all internal amps it gives very little power to the surrounds. Regarding the balanced outputs according to Gene at audiohilics it’s fake balanced and he isn’t a fan of how low. The wattage goes I believe maybe 55 at All ch driven plus he found unusual distortion in tests in the center channel I would say the one to buy right now is the Integra 8.4

    • @wezzman1
      @wezzman1 Před 11 dny

      You are half correct, the CC distortion was measurement related and not something that can be heard and the 55w limit was due to built in protection under bench testing ("nanny" according to Jean) and not in real world use. And of course Mc with mono blocks will sound better than almost any AVR.

In this case, does it make sense for me to buy an expensive receiver like a Yamaha, since you say it has the best sound, but my speakers have built-in amplification and they can only receive a signal from the receiver. All AVR for multi channel protocol ( dts , dolby, auro 3D) don't implement microsoft multichannel driver asio wme to be able to listen audio from cubase or flstudio when sound use hdmi connect to denon yamaha . At this time pc support only multi channel in read mode from dvd, game, music but never from audio daw in realtime . Why ? there was dts live and dolby live in the past. The connector say nothing about protocol so we have the choice between xlr or aes ebu protocol on 3 pins connector ? Yamaha is wellknow for pro music gear....

    Fantastic, "how to review.". My experiences with setup and caliberation were very similar to yours. I have since upgraded to the rz70 for the bass control and using its preouts to a tx rz 820 for some additional tunning with eqjualization, tone controls, and addtional distance calibration that are not accesible in the rz70 after direct live in the 70. No sure if a placebo effect of specs but the additional 20watts in the rz 820 seems more impactful than the rz50. Not sure if i missed it in this episode but did you do a comparison on dirac and the built in accueq? Thanks again for a superb review.

    Jon thanks for helping me with the rz50's, great in-depth video. What speakers would you recommend for the rz50's in a room size 14x16?

    Why doesn’t this guy have a million subscribers? He may be the most thorough reviewer

    Look at an older Yamaha DSP-A1 Manual That has the best description of what the modes are and what to use them for, basically you’re over laying over any two channels source or 5.1 the acoustics of these recorded environments and the reason why they give you those adjustments is so that you can optimize those for your listening Space , if you wanna modify it you can , they do recommend using them unaltered

    Have the RZ50. My only complaint is that Dirac Live (software) is a complete disaster. Other than that my only other complaint is that when switching between PS5 and XBOX my "smart" OLED TV and its web-os delays and interferes with the Onkyo switching capacity. Other than that - I am quite satisfied. Looking for master bedroom upgrade and will probably go with Onkyo 7100. Terrific review BTW. Your presentation graphics are stellar.

    Appreciate your videos and opinions! I have a lot of room constraints and am considering changing out my SR8012 to an AZ5000ES for the virtual speaker features of the Sony. Right now it's a 5.1 setup with the couch on the back wall, rear surrounds are on stands on both sides of the couch toed in to the listening position. If it would help, on the back wall right behind the couch are two windows where I could put two small bookshelf speakers on the sills and aim them upward. They would be about 8" in back and 18" lower then listener's ears. Not ideal! Basically a dysfunctional 7.1 setup. The Marantz can only do so much with Audessey and my tweaks. Wondering if it's worth going losing some of the features of the Marantz to possibly get better sound processing.

    Can anyone explain how changing distances and trims could affect the response of a single channel?

    I moved from denon to anthem. I hope the speaker matrix on de 540 allows for bi amp on the Class a/b amps instead of the Class d amps. Overall i hope to hear a stronger stereo stage than with the denon
