    The video numbers are very interesting. I far prefer the detailed in-house reviews where you pick apart their quirks and sound quality impressions the other niche videos. I like all what you’re doing and hope you don’t change.

    I enjoy the product introductions, but love your level of detail in the product reviews even more. You uncover nuances that the manufacturers omit and your charts are great for reference and comparison. Keep it up!

      While I appreciate videos which product the most views, I will continue to produce videos I know won’t garner the most attention. Even if I anticipate a small audience, I will develop the video: Some of the videos that take the longest to put together, but only have a small audience, are ones I am most proud of. Good example, my turntable videos. I had so much fun with those and feel are among my best work. -Jon

    Comparisons are certainly for me the most important. Your user experience of sound quality is what provides value to your content. I want to know what you think is the best. Number ratings instead of the graphs, and dots might be better. We want to know what you thought was the best of the year

      I just got some similar feedback from another viewer. He wanted me to start using an analyzer to for less subjective measurements. What this it may be more possible to quantify the sound quality differences. I will need to give that some thought in order to get that right. -Jon

      That is a great suggestion. I have the Marantz Cinema 50 that supports the Dolby modes. As I don't have neighbors to worry about, I don't usually run the compression modes, but I those are helpful with those with apartments and kids sleeping upstairs. -Jon

    I liked the Onkyo, Integra, Pioneer, & Denon in house reviews. I was looking at the Onkyo TX-RZ50, Pioneer VSX-LX505, & the Denon X3800. Went with the RZ50. Suggestion with the in house reviews, check out how the apps work on both Apple & Android. I found that the android app doesn't have some of what the apple one does. And would like to see more in depth videos on the different Calibration types... audesy, accueq, mcacc, etc. Thanks. Keep up the good work. 👍

    Thanks John.. for all your time and effort in 2023. All your video’s are very informative. I like new product line comparison vids the best, you really lay the info out clearly.. especially like your diagrams on those. The in depth review vids are great as well.. can’t wait for the Denon avr-x6800 review… I’m really interested in that unit, coming from a Denon avr-x6200w. The Denon A1H seemed a bit op to me. But what I’m really hoping for is a Marantz cinema 30 to be announced! Keep up the great work in 2024!

    • @ripewave
      @ripewave  Před 5 měsíci

      I think (and hoping) that the Denon AVR-X6800H and Marantz Cinema 30 will be real winners. Fully featured, with support for dts:X Pro and front wide speakers and a sound quality in the top tier of what I tested so far. There are on my list to test when available. I feel the Denon A1H and Marantz AV10 are over priced, but can't judge without listening. However, if these new 2014 models bring you into tier 1 at a more reasonable price, that may be good enough. Do their flagships offer that much more? -Jon

    • @1Aquadon
      @1Aquadon Před 5 měsíci

      @@ripewave I'm guessing their flagships offer a great amount.. but the price point is too high 9for what they offer) to me. Ive been waiting for an hdmi 2.1 receiver with at least 7.4.6. I do feel the switchable speaker layouts on A1H & AV10 is really nice. Don't know if Marantz will put out the Cinema 20 that would be their Receiver version of the AV10 hopefully with class D amps. Plus we are all still waiting for Dirac ART to be implemented in the latest flagships

    thank you for all your hard work!
    you're one of the best channels for audio coverage. I would like to to see how wold you go about speaker matching to the reviewed receiver models. rich receiver coupled with rich/spacious/confined and so on. what is the best match up with each receiver.
    I'm looking too understand what will be the best speaker match up with Sony and Marantz products for example.

    • @ripewave
      @ripewave  Před 5 měsíci

      I haven't performed any analysis to pair speakers with a receiver. Instead I am focused on what constitutes a good receiver and a good speaker. My general rule on pairing is to avoid using a hard to drive speaker with an underpowered amplifier or one that doesn't accommodate the speaker's nominal impedance rating. A great amp should always make a speaker should better provided the impedance and minimum power rating is matched. -Jon

    @user-mt3wt7hu6p Před 4 měsíci +1

    I appreciate the tier slide. When you ranked the receivers, were you using the receivers amplifiers or did you use any external amplification and this was based more on the receivers processing?

    • @ripewave
      @ripewave  Před 4 měsíci

      I have been using 100% external amplification. That approach focuses on the processing within the receiver. -Jon

    • @user-mt3wt7hu6p
      @user-mt3wt7hu6p Před 4 měsíci

      Thank you for the reply! I thought that as the model went up, the sound quality went up but because of the wattage. I thought that processing was the same as long as it was the same line. For example, I have been looking at the 2 onkyo’s because they include Dirac (it seems to me that it’s the general consensus that Dirac is producing the cleanest/clearest sound when it comes to auto calibration) and my thought process was that I could save some money by going with the RZ 50 and getting an amplifier to make up for the lower wattage and the processing would be the same so I would get the same sound quality as the 70 so it’s good to know that it’s not only wattage that goes up but also quality of sound processing. This changes my way of thinking when making my next purchase. Looks like I’m gonna have to go with a flagship model and then later on add the amplifier. Thanks again!

    Hey Jon quick question. In your experience, does the auro3d upmixer take advantage of the voice of god speaker? I’m looking at doing a auro 13.1 layout and I was just wondering if it used the VoG speaker when upmixing. Thanks for the videos.

    • @ripewave
      @ripewave  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I do not have experience with a "voice of God" top-center speaker as I currently only have two rows of ceiling speakers. I am considering adding one to understand the answer to the question you raised. One option is to install as a temporary speaker just to test out. I want to try the same with height speakers mounted high on the wall. -Jon

    What are your thoughts on Dirac vs Sony DCAC 9 vs Audessey as far as room correction and object placement in an Atmos mix?

    • @ripewave
      @ripewave  Před 6 měsíci

      Both do a good job producing flat responses without fussing. Sony DCAC IX (9) is easier to use but if you want to customize filters for your preferences, you will need to use Dirac as Sony is all plug and play. Object placement in the mix I find to be independent of room calibration, but a well calibrated system will make it easier to hear that placement better. In that case I would stay will Dirac. Sony’s strength is widening the soundstage making the output sound more spacious. -Jon

Is tat nythng i need to do for this!? Coz i dont hear anythng frm surround barely whispering low volumes.. but even denon x1600h had a good surround!! What i need to get the best surround effect out of RZ50?!!

    • @ripewave
      @ripewave  Před 5 měsíci

      It seems that the speaker levels are not properly matched. Goto page 134 on the manual (4. Level Calibration). If you don't have a sound meter, you can download one for a mobile device. Place your phone or tablet at your listening position. For each speaker you will want to adjust the levels so the same sound level is measured. Let me know if that helps. -Jon
