    I have its predecessor, the SR-8015. I absolutely love its "All -Channels Stereo" mode. Its my favourite mode for music. Thanks for theisvery extensive dive into 30's modes. Amazing work!

    Hey Jon, I'm wondering if at some point you are going to review the unit using its internal power amps? After all this is probably what most people will buy it for. I'd also go as far as saying that people in the market for this will not even look at the likes of a pre-pro such as RMC-1 so not sure what the point of comparison is with these? Cheers.

    Wow, great analysis, Jon.
    We use the Dolby 7.2.6 configuration for Auro 3D (7.2 plus 4 heights) which works well for us when selecting different immersive modes.
    I’m impressed you have some fantastic physical hi resolution media. We have quite a few selections as well and most of the time Auro 3D is our favorite music listening mode even though our 2 middle heights don’t get used.
    I’m curious about your thoughts on the three immersive listening modes? Any preference?

    Did you check DTS:X and Neural-X with the Auro3D layout?
    May want to give that a shot. People should know DTS:X-Pro is supposed to be compatible with the Auro layout including Center Height and VoG

      @@ripewave yeah one reason this series is really interesting is one day I want an AV 10. I plan to run 9.2.6 with CH and TS. That'll max out the processing for Atmos, DTS:X, and Auro.

    John, I have a message to Auro, add front wides to Auromatic. Even if its a synth mode.

    • @FURognar
      @FURognar Před 2 měsíci +1

      Send it to them. They are under new management and seem more willing to adjust Auro to be more compatible with Atmos than Wilfried was.

    • @mikeortiz2139
      @mikeortiz2139 Před 2 měsíci

      @@FURognar yeah I'm excited for their new direction. Comparing Native Atmos to Auromatic, I still lean to Auromatic unless the Atmos mix is top notch. The fact that they are working to adjust Auromatic to include and utilize objects is just an awesome all-in-one.

    Thanks John.. I'm thinking that in whichever sound mode you got the front wides active .. that if a system was set up in 7.2.6 all 6 height channels would be active yes?

    • @FURognar
      @FURognar Před 2 měsíci +1

      Yes, all 6 heights will be active, including in Auro3D mode. Auro will use the stereo Top-Middle as a Top-Surround array.

    Thanks for this! At 6:46 you mention the front wides, and the front backs. I'm not sure what the "front backs" are, but presume it was a little slip! :)

      It does. While not all care about their DSP sound modes, there are many Yamaha fans which are glad they have retained over the decades. -Jon

      And you, what you hear ?...

    • @DavidCNavas
      @DavidCNavas Před 2 měsíci

      I have certainly lost that range. I don't know if it's "audible" or just a bunch of nonsense, but I can speak about lower tones. At some point I lost the ability to hear the 15khz screech of CRTs, but I could still walk into a room and tell if the TV was on or not -- it wasn't audible, but I felt pressure in my ear anyway, and I felt relief/release when the TV was turned off. I know that sounds ridiculous, but to some people it may well be that they can't hear it as a tone, but they still sense something of it anyway. I've since grown quite a bit older, and my hearing is capped a bit lower than that.
      At any rate, it's always a good idea to judge a thing in person. The good news is that you only need to do that once, the bad news is that we've spent the last decade hollowing out our retail space, so even doing it once can be tricky. Even the binaural recordings I've listened to just aren't sufficient. The subtleties seem lost to me.

      I have this unit and I can tell you, you can def hear the difference between Filter 1 & 2, it's subtle but its there, and Im not young but my hearing is pretty good and my speakers cut off is 25khz.

    • @John-ok8ts
      @John-ok8ts Před 2 měsíci +1

      @@thezone4957 Then the filter is changing it below 22Khz because I'm in my mid 40s and I have average hearing for my age I can't hear anything above 14Khz. Do a youtube test that compares your hearing to your age. If memory serves I think you have to literally be a baby to hear that high.
