Mitsubishi 3000GT Spyder Owner's Video HD

Back in 1995, Mitsubishi Motors dared to sell the first retractable hardtop car since Ford attempted the idea back in 1957. For the lucky few hundred owners, Mitsubishi delivered a Spyder Owner's box including a VHS with maintenance tips. Not a bad trade-off for spending $65,000 at the time. Enjoy! Mitsubishi Eclipse Montage
zhlédnutí 810Před 6 lety
The Mitsubishi Eclipse (1990-1999) marked a good decade for the brand. The Diamond Star Motors (DSM) era was short-lived but it did produce incredible cars that offered a ton of value for money.
1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 Sypder | An Engineering Odyssey
zhlédnutí 757Před 6 lety
By 1995, Mitsubishi Motors was at the height of their game. The outrageously expensive and over-engineered Spyder variant of the 3000GT VR-4 symbolized the pinnacle of the brand's success. Unfortunately afterwards, slow sales and financial distress collapsed the brand by the 2000s, eroding all distinguished performance pedigree.

Just playing around with a new lav mic, preparing for a new series on this 23,000 mile 1995 3000GT VR-4 Spyder. Recently purchased from the original owner and always garage kept...still deserving of an upcoming detail. Mitsubishi only built 51 Glacier White Pearl VR-4 Spyders with a black leather interior just for one year, 1995! Stay Tuned!

What happened man?
I’m so envious I wish I could have this one ..
I’ll try and get one ASAP.
He saving these for the post apocalypse
Hey this is my first video of urs ive seen, Enjoyed ur take on cars, def check out more & ad my inputs if ur good with that? #Always be respectful ✌️
That’s an amazing color combination, the interior color compliments the Jamaican Blue exterior color. In the last 3 to 4 years what did you do with the car? Did you change out all the fluids since you got it? Did you keep the mileage ultra low? Hope so that’s a Gem 💎 Let me know if you ever want to sell it? Please do some more updates. Bless you.
My dream car in the 90's!!!!
Genial amigo muy hermoso y limpio tu Eclipse 2g 💥💫👍
Oooh the nostalgic feeling I get from watching this video makes me want to urinate in the litterbox.
Es el eclipse mas limpio q e Visto en MI vida deveria valer entre $80 a $100,000 dolares es autentico dificil de encontrar uno original en esas condisiones
The Mitsubishi Spyder was one of the few retractable hardtop convertibles that looked awesome both open and closed. Also, the segment showing how to raise the top manually if it malfunctions is giving me anxiety for the inevitable moment when the roof on my Pontiac G6 convertible decides to stop working.
I wish I was born a little older the prices of these skyrocketed because the sad boys on tiktok ruling everything by yhe time I get a license it would be out of my reach
Dude straight up relic! Save this for after the apocalypse ha
Your videos are great this garage is amazing
Episode 2?
Eventually I promise! Hang in there :)
I've always loved these cars since high school. I can't remember the last time I've seen a VR4 on the road, even more rare than a well-kept Fox body 5.0 which have disappeared as well.
Are you gonna sell this car?
sure miss my 99 gst
Please please please please review drive this thing in its pristine near-new factory time capsule condition!!! 🙏🙌🙏
Perfect interior for that colour, and perfect intro song to captivate the period correct nostalgia. Freshhhh.
🤯😵 ... 😩👌❄️🏔️🔰
Those jacks are next level haha didn't even know anything like them existed. Can they handle holding load for long periods of time or do you need to drop back down onto stands?
Man your content is pretty high calibre I'm really blown away! There's gotta be something to get you more exposure... Don't give up dude you definitely have the knack for this!
Dude in blue sent me. Amazing car. Truly a time capsule. I’m a “drive all the cars” kind of guy, but I think this one should stay a museum piece. Subscribed.
Absolutely adore that color, love the pop ups, sounds amazing. What a fantastic car!
Great video appreciate the education and enthusiasm. Im fortunate to have a pretty clean glacier white 1997 SL model and hVe added a 95 spyder vr4 like urs but in the martinique yellow pearl 1 of 13 loving it rips much more than the sl and oddly build quality seems better tjan the 97 so i believe 2nd gen was all their best efforts while 3rd gen they started some cost savings
Wow! I know about the yellow ones very well, what a rare bird you got there. Hold onto that one! Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed. I agree the 2nd gen is right in that sweet spot of build quality and tech
Where you from bro?
Yoooo u still around.. ????
I'm asking the same question I can't believe it's been 2 years!! Still waiting for a video 😅 I do hope everything is perfectly fine though
genial. coño
Hey but at least I am positive I did the top on your car 💯 % I remember those white and yellow ones . I did them all
Drive it but leave it stock. One of my high school classmate's mother had a Dodge Stealth in this color.
Wow it's been a long time since your last upload Is everything good bro? I've been wanting to see how everything is going and how the cars are doing etc I hope you upload something soon 😬
Feels surreal watching this in my 95 Spyder SL
mad respect for u dude
Missed out on a 63K miles Bone Stock GST a few days ago very Sad
in the jamacian blue too, ugh thats a beauty right there
One of the most beautiful cars made in the 1990s. I almost bought one twice. Had an opportunity in 1998 but went with a Corvette. Then again in 2017 but went with a C7 Z06. I'm glad I did because these are quite possibly one of the most unreliable cars ever built. 20k miles, probably not much to worry about but all I ever see with these cars is whats getting repaired on em. God bless for taking the plunge. Its beautiful!. I still want one but its impossible to justify buying one unless you have millions in the bank and you can throw money away to upkeep it.
My friend has a vr4 and I've never seen him drive it once cause there's always something wrong with it lol
Love the 2nd Gen Eclipse! I own a 99 GST😃
The cat in the video his nickname Was Woody lol
Nice to see one of my cars on a video lol and on the road I built the hardtop for the company when I was 18 years old . I remember there where Only a few of those white ones and yellow ones on the line ASC Dominguez hills
do you have any pictures or videos from those times??
@@andydodson8627 my friend might I don’t . I also work on the Toyota paseo convertible little car and the Toyota Celica my brother Work for Toyota they press the truck bed and make parts For Tesla cars also there
@@andydodson8627 theres is a new video on here The making of the GT 3000 motorweek
@@hobbyautobodyfun9315 haha ive seen that one many times! vintage gold! I am working on a documentary of the 3000gt and looking for any old archive footage of the ASC stuff that I can get my hands on.
@@andydodson8627 yeah I don’t have anything like that just my memory’s . That was my first real job . I park all the cars out side also. It was a joy working on something big like that car . Here’s a little dark Secret for you . The German took the idea from ASC and make there first hardtop by sending a team of Engineers and Supposedly tour the plant so we would do it . Sound Familiar lol Vw bug Joseph G 🤫 between you and me
I’ve owned 4 of these. A 91, 92, 96 and a 98. Fun cars, but the maintenance on ‘em gets old. All of them had intake to throttle body seal issues. And all except the 98’ needed one or more water pumps to be replaced on each model. All of the 4 I owned had coolant leaks. All were running at least 17 lbs of boost. I liked them all, just not very dependable, especially when modded
How can you not drive them!?! I own a 97 eclipse GSX with 80k on it, a 92 eagle talon tsi AWD with 100k on it, another 92 talon tsi awd with 110k on it, a 97 eclipse GST spyder with 112k on it plus have another 92 talon awd shell and 98 talon awd I'm putting together....I drive the hell out of all the ones that run........4 lol. DSM's 4 life!
i saw a 99 vr4 with 46 miles on it for 1 million dollar on craiglist a year ago, dont know if that was legit.
4:43 Drive the piss outta it! Cars are meant to be driven, I'd rather see a really nice car with low miles and a few rock chips than a brand new, never driven example. I wouldn't hold it against you for keeping it <1,000 as a museum piece because I get that side of the argument, but if it were me I'd be planning some road trips with that car (after service and catching up on whatever rubber needs to be replaced after all these years!)
It's beautiful
I have a bone stock 98 rs but its high miles😞
These cars have a hidden fallowing, they are good cars when they are maintained and worked on constantly. The biggest issue is they use the same clutch that is found on the DSM platform but for a much heavier car. Launching will cause the clutch to go out in these.
Let me educate you on the 4g63 that is in the dsm. It is only in the EVO 1-3 and after that it was changed to right side timing components as well as a redesigned oil drain setup and redesigned bearings. The evo 4-9 while still having a 4g63 is a different 4g63 than the early models. The oil passages are much better designed in the evo heads and that is why the evo engine is more desirable.
needs to be in a museum!! damn dude I hope you enjoy that car
I want one, I had a white 92 vr4 back in 2010 and wish I didn't have to get rid of it..
