LOL, just modded my original GPI case today. I need to cut the case to allow USB charging though. Currently I just slip the battery cover open slightly and insert the cable. Not the best, but I need to get some USB-C modules, only had the micro one laying around. Your builds look great.

Awesome video! I am very interested in somehow getting a usb input on one of these. I have one that I havnt used in a couple years due to having another handheld I like more. But I got this crazy idea to build another tiny arcade machine (built 2 others so far) anyway these projects usually end up costing so much in the end, and I was thinking if I just make a wood cabinet for the gpi to slot into i already have most of what I need, but I need to find a way to plug the USB controller pcb that will be in the mini cabinet into the gpi. Any advice? I'd really like to be able to take it out and still use it outside the cabinet so I don't want to solder the controls directly to the gpi.

you don't need to boost the battery, it runs fine on the 3.2-4.2V straight from the cell

Are there any updated instructions for the raspberry pi 4?

I did a mod but with an old DS lite battery and a recycled power boost board from an old dead battery bank. Except I connected power to straight to the back of the power jack on the side as opposed to the battery terminals themselves. I wish I would have watched this video again before I did the mod but oh well, lesson learned. It still works, I just have to open the battery door to charge it. When I order the bigger battery and the nicer power boost circuit I will go this route except I will borrow the power jack to charge it. Thanks buddy!

Question on this build. If I was to restore this using your trick, how big do the aluminum sheets need to be? Also what extra components did you use to convert the battery into a power on/off switch? The battery on my old laptop is completely dead and it's a very old battery. I'm thinking about going with this idea to restore this old laptop I got. I think it's better than to replace the battery with a new one. My old gaming laptop is an MSI Dominator GT72S. Please respond when you can. Thank you.

Will this work with the pi zero 2 w?

We really need a display with higher resolution in the GPI case. I like the screen size of the original GPI case, with the greay border it looks more like the original Gameboy. But the resolution of 320x240 is extremely low. They should at least double it (640x480), so that you still have pixelperfect resolution for PS1 but less unsharpness for systems with interpolation.
