- How to turn a broken laptop into a small media pc, is pretty easy to put together, I made mine from an Acer 5742G with an I5 processor and Nvidia 540M on which I had the display and the keyboard broke so I decided to not throw away.It has a Destiny theme which I think looks amazing.

Chech out how to turn a broken SNES controller into a gaming console!!!
czcams.com/video/ZMP2UWJQOv8/video.html
Imagine how easy / cool it would be to make a raspberry pi handheld out of that material. maybe using an 8bitdo controller board to keep it simple and to be able to use the bluetooth to widen the variety of screens you could use
I think is one already made, supaboy, is pretty much the same thing!
On a second note, I can't find any pi to finish my video 😭😭
Really liked how easy it was to build the case using that material. Awesome video and straight to the points.
That's a very nice and simple case Adam! Very well ventilated =) I think I'll be using that color scheme for a build very soon, looks great!
It is well ventilated indeed :))
damn man, this is one of the sickest laptop to desktop transformation i've ever seen
AWSOME,really liked your use of simple tools and stuff, DO MORE!!!!!!
Thanks
Next week I will have another video
yay ^.^
I've watched quite a few posted projects to build one for myself, your idea is by far the most nice looking and easy to do of them all,
plus it can be custom painted and even vinyl wrapped if you want. Thanks for sharing
Thank you for watching and glad that you found it useful!
Dude you're awesome, so clear and informative. And the fact that you linked to everything you used is so helpful, subscribed!
Glad that it helped!
This was very simple and cool. Yours projects are amazing. I am amazed by them. All the best for your future works.
Thanks Mohammed, appreciated, hope you will enjoy the next ones!
Very nice build, well explained, good video editing, very beautiful work! Loved the colors and details.
Cheers from Brazil! 🍻
Thanks for feedback Neilor, glad that you liked it! Have a great day
Thanks to your video!!! I have been weeks looking for a project similar to yours and just now I could find it! There are no laptop custom cases as easy as desktop cases in the market for sale.
Hi
Glad that you found the video helpfull, I agree there are no cases for laptops on the market but you can make your own, and that is better in my opinion!
So simple and yet so so creative. Really makes me want to try it out. Thanks for the video!
dude thats pretty looking awesome and nice design.Seriously well done, its cheap and look fantastic
Really excellent, love your case design
I have watched couple of your videos by now and i must say that you deserve more subs... Honestly.
I really appreciate people who make useful and creative stuff like this. Probably cos i am too clumsy to make something like this by myself.
Thanks for the kind words! Maybe with time, the growth will come!
As people say... From your lips to God's ears. Good luck mate.
All videos should be like this .. Short, to the point and excelent results
Thanks for that!
That was amazing! Great work, man.
I'm not sure if I'll ever do something like that. But your video quality is awesome ❤️❤️
thanks man!
Wow, i like how simple that was. Thanks.
beautiful man!! I didn't think about aluminum perforated sheet as a base material. Will do mine soon!
I fryed the board xD so I guess I'll wait until I have another crappy laptop ^^
Well I was surprised when I saw you only have 164 subs you look like a pro.. great work
This was the first video I made,I am happy with the feedback, got some new ones as well, improved a bit more
Omg that's looks great simple tools dude killed it, love it, id like to see more

Thank you for sharing, I'm turning my AMD a10 laptop into a media station and your idea will help me tons....
Great video...
So far my favorite diy pc project
Man you made one Great looking case. Thank you for sharing this with us.
I like how simple this is! I'm trying to make a DIY case for my laptop + external GPU and ATX PSU and thanks for the idea of aluminum mesh panels.
Glad that the vid was helpful!
Also subbed! Hope you could do more of this custom PC/laptop cases in the future.
I am actually working on an acrylic one atm :D, hope i finish it soon!
Almost forgot...thanks for the nice words and the sub!!
Yoooo this is the coolest implementation of laptop to desktop repurposing I've seen so far on CZcams
Simple and practical! Great stuff - subbed
Thanks for watching! Sorry for the sound quality here, It was the first video I ever made, hope you can enjoy more from the channel
Awesome build and color choice!
Awesome first vid man!
Thanks!
Really liked ur video man keep it up
Great video and job Adam. Everything looks and feels professional. The way you presented the video, the material, the way you guide the users to the finished product. You establish an ongoing connection with the viewer through you talking. One notice though, I believe that the channel's name feels a bit unprofessional, from my perspective it could be better named like Adam Builds or something close to that.
thank you for feedback, I will keep that in mind for the future for sure!
Marios I think I owe you one
hahaha, what a gem I find when time is short. This is one of the most constructive comments ever! Of course there are details that could be elaborated - but then i wouldn't have watched it now and maybe never, now i take the time to comment. I wonder what the previous name was, but it is of no real importance, only asking because i myself chose a name to put people off (in games, once i finally take the time to edit videos i will choose a proper channel name).
Best wishes to all of you who are interested in diy tinkering.
this is AMAZING!!! can't believe what I'm seeing! XD nice build titan
OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE POWER BUTTON TRICK THAT YOU GAVE. IT SAVE ME SINCE MY RIBBON CABLE GET WRECK WHEN I TRIED TO OPEN MY LAPTOP FOR CLEANING.
Glad that I helped ! Let me know if you need any help!
Straight to the point, no bullshit. Nice, man. I'll do it just in case the laptop's battery is no longer able to live. Nicee
I must do this . Thank you Adam.
Very nice job Adam!
Thanks David!
Thus is awesome I have 3 really good laptop's I'm going to start to work this idea really fast.how did you anable the external port for video only and sound ? Maybe another video explaining these issues... thanks
Display settings and press show just or 1 or show just 2
Hope that helps!
What a lovely work man.
Thanks man!
What I love about this is that anyone can do it because you don'tneed many tools, unlike other builds.
Tomorrow I post the Qi charger mod to this, is even simpler 🕹️
Hola that was great.
Try making a build that makes use of the holes to mount more aluminum modules with upgrades like a hdd bay and sata cable gpu. Then it would look like a bionic pc
Nice ideea!! I might have a look into this
This is very well done. 👌
awesome video!
Really simple and affordable!
Really cool one bro! Thanks!
Glad that you liked it
Cool build! It also looks easy too.

Excellent job, my friend. LOVE the paint job afterwards. I couldn't tell how sturdy the finished case was, but it looked stable. KUDOS!
Nice, Simple And Useful Liked And Subscribed !!

Plz share link of that toy. Great build. Loved it
Glad that you liked it, here is a link amzn.to/2vcXA6W
creativity level 1000 ... case and the color was great
some of my favourite colours!
Adam's just a qst can I convert my old 15inch external monitor portable battery power ??
If you want to power the external monitor with a battery ofc you can you will need some soldering and a power converter and you can do it!
thanks man I will be looking forward to this project
I can do a video on this aswell, got some of the parts, now I am doing a DIY handheld console, and a speaker but I will add the battery powered monitor to my schedules
Lovely job mate
Thanks! Glad that gou liked it
thats an awesome case!
very nice bro big hug from Portugal
Greetings from UK
Wow!.. this is the best looking laptop pc build by far!.. made me subscribe too ;-)
This was good. I like final result.
Great video Adam. I tried to make small media center on the motehrboard from compaq CQ61. Unfortunatelly there is 10 pin ribbon power cable and I have no idea how to connect it to new power switch. I think I've tried all the combitantion and can't switch it on. How you stripp cable insulation from this ribbon cable?? Can't wait for yours next video.
Mine had just 6 pins be sure you try all combination and it should work, glad that you liked the video,I upload every 2 weeks now
One more question. How did you stripp cable insulation from this ribbon cable??
They were soldered on the power button module, so I used the soldering iron to melt the solder and pull it out carefully.Hope that helps!
Nice Work.
Thanks man!
Awesomeness Hands Down.. This Is Very Creative, & Ingenious As Well.. With The Use Of Some Simple Tools.. A Little Time, & Imagination.. You Have Turned Out A Master Peace.. You Sir Have A New Subscriber As Well.. As Always, - *{MAY THE FORCE BE WITH YOU, - ALWAYS}.. @{*__*}@
Wow its excellent job
Well done 👍
Ok ur the first vid i found that helped with the power button wiring but i got a question how in the hell u power it up like do u still use the laptop charger n battery
I removed the battery and power it with the power adapter, It was taking too much space.
Great and simple idea to just use mesh. *looks at old MSI titan pro with evil smile*
Go for it!!!
i like the short video which explains the idea without much talk
What did you do with the battery? Did you remove it and just directly plugin the laptop charger?
That's an awesome idea to use that as a quick and easy case.
But I have to wonder. If you push in the case from accident, could it short the electronics or would the paint prevent that well enough?
Nice build. Where did you get that metal sheet in low quantity?
Hi Andrei, glad that you liked the build, the motherboard is screwed on standoffs and the painted grill is quite sturdy so it will not bend really quickly, as for the sheet of aluminium it should be a link in the description
Man you deserve more subs
pretty awesome!
Thanks man!
Adam Builds you are amazing
Well now, look who's here!:D
Can u tell me about keyboard and touchpad convertion that you did it in your new project
Turned out pretty smexy! Would have loved to see it "demoed" too, like hook everything up up power that boi and run a quick bench showing Temps etc etc. Pretty damn creative too using mesh for the whole construct!
One note though, I did not seem to notice an SSD or HDD mounted in the system anywhere, was it added later on?
Hi,
I have to apologize for that, but this was my first ever video, the actual first video I ever edited and shot, so there are a lot of problems with it, there was an SSD added after that, I will use it along my 3D printer rig so it might appear in a video in the future, but there are not many things that can go wrong in the build so from there my lack of demo
Glad that you liked the build overall
Regards
Well, for your first ever video, you did very well! Thanks for responding. lol that clears it up. XD Have a good one! =D
That thumbnail looks stunning dude
Awesome build BrO. Did you do a cut out for the IO shield part of the motherboard?
Happy that you liked it,
In my initial plan I did wanted to make one but I really liked the look without.
Adam's I saw your video from sff website.. Gonna build the same in the up coming week but I will be using a mini itx Mobo and a discrete gpu... Nice video bro
Ganesh Sairam Next week I finish my watercooled video,I will use a custom made parvum s2.5,
mAtx,I'm very excited about that one
Ganesh Sairam when is done leave me a link to check it out
Adam's sure man... Definitely
well done project!
Thanks Carlos
Woww.. so simple, but amaizing usefull...
good video, great production. but wish it was a little longer, showing you on the computer etc. got a sub from me though
CARA FICOU MUITO BOM PARABENS!!!
Wow,that loock great.
Thanks Florin
What about the power supply? do i just use the original laptop charger? do i have to cut out a hole for that too?
Just use the original charger is no point to modify that
Very impressive
What kind of case are you using?
Hi its very interesting, if we remove the main lcd and use the 2 port for the main screen, is it possible? Or we still need the main source from the main screen?
You can use the second port, just plug the hdmi in and in display settings set it as the main screen (1/2) :D Hope that helps!
Adam's thank you for the replay, yes we can use the 2nd display, but you take the board out from the laptop, and for the display you use the hdmi port? Is it instantly working when you turn on the system? Because you not use the main screen :)
Plug the monitor you use through HDMI and go in display settings, there you can choose your main screen, click on detect and choose which one is your monitor, like that you will be able to use it, It will instantly work when you power on
0:13 which Website? Keep up the good work
www.Ifixit.com
Cheap, Easy and Genius.
Great work, keep it up and you might just find your self waking up on top of a cash pile one day.
Beastmode
Well done
Thanks Ronald!
i have a broken screen old i5 latop i got for free missing all the parts just has motherboard and shell put ram in it still boots to bios might try making it into a desktop
If you follow this project let me know how it ended up!
Good diy.
The case looks like the top of those metal picnic tables
Did you take the motherboard out to paint?
Never knew these aluminum sheets are so easily bendable and cutable! May I know what's the thickness and hole size of your selected aluminum sheet? Your amazon link expired...
where did you put the storage? didn't see the SSD there.
What's with the thumbs down ? Great video and nice finished product !
IMPRESIONANTE !!
Good Job !!!
