Adam I have an question can you also play N64 games and Gamecube games on this Mod?
N64 yes, about game cube I really don't know
That‘s so cool thank you for responding I defenetly gonna do one to
@@Manuel-xn7pf If you will need any help I am here :D
Thank you :)
Wow Adam best build so far! I was expecting this to start my own, as there was no such detailed tutorial anywhere :D
Glad to help man!
Love your builds and tutorials ❤️
very clean build! you deserve more views!
Thanks for watching Bryan
This is a great video man!
Thank you, I really appreciate it!
That was a Great Presentation!
Great build, love your work. Would the speaker you use in this build fit the Retroflag gpi case?
It barely fits in the DMG case, is not fitting for sure in the gpi, but the sound on that one is really good why would you change it?
Quest Completed!! This guy sounds just like C Engineer the runescape player
Hey Adam, I love all your videos! Great way to get overviews of different ideas and well edited! :)
I was wondering though if you still remember the parts for the LiPo charger and the 3a boost? Even if you don't know the exact parts, any extra info about what I can use to boost the amperage would really help me researching, I think I'm at a dead end lol :S
Actually I did find the parts, but I'm curious to know if your build can charge while you're playing, or if it runs off of battery only?
Thanks for watching the videos! Yes the circuit I made here is able to charge and play in the same time as being made out of 2 different modules so is fine. The booster was a 3A one that worked well but it was quite big, so we are working on a booster to get 5A so you can get the Pi4 in there.
I am currently testing and the boards will be available at 8bitcustoms.com
Also bought the module charger and buck booster. Can u share on how to wired the tp4056 module and the battery?
can you share the image for retropie which already installed with GPIO pin config for Raspi 3? and control wiring based on the retropie config, thx u
where do the data cables from the pi to the dpi adapter go? why does no one on the planet seem to understand they need to show that part as well?
Is there a way I can use the back board with USB C instead of micro? And if so, any links to the USB C part I need to get?
Faaaaaaaaaantastic video. Subbed. Will be trying to incorporate this into a GBA Pi 4 build. Think I could cut the PCB apart to make it fit a GBA?
Glad that you liked it! To be honest I haven't tried but it will be possible to get it small enough to fit in a GBA
Can you provide a link to where you found the 3D printed mount bracket for the 6 face buttons? And/or provide an STL file so I can print it myself? I’ve been looking for one all over the place and I can only find a combination bracket for the lcd and the additional 2 buttons for making a 4 face button setup (ABXY). I would very much appreciate the help
I used a normal 4 buttons one and some normal circle button wells
Adam! Any updates to this channel/ shop? Please re-open your shop with all these accessories for a pi 4 Gameboy build! Been wanting to build one of these before covid. Of course I hope things are better now since things are now better than they used to be.
Are there any updated instructions for the raspberry pi 4?
can you give a link to your battery management board and boost? thanks!
Need it too
The Game Boy Pocket is my preferred Game Boy. I wonder if this mod can be made fit in the case of the smaller Game Boy Pocket without switching the Pi3B+ for a Pi Zero or sacrificing any of the features. Probably not.
Is a good idea, but an even smaller space will make it difficult to cool it, but for fun it can be done haha
I was looking for the 3amp booster i found a 5 but its too big i have one that says 220 on it and the MT3608 is on the back. Will the 220 MT3608 will be enough to power up everything?
I did only one tp4056 and mt3608 believe me it will not power ur pi
Can you please share a link or details about the battery?
Can you put the part numbers of the lipo charger and the power booster (that go in the back portion of the shell) in the description?
Hey Brian, been a couple months, but if you're still looking I thiiiink I've managed to track the parts down. Still trying to understand how they work together and so on but these links should get you started:
www.amazon.com/Current-Lithium-Battery-Charging-Charger/dp/B01LYZSNBM
www.amazon.ca/Converter-Lithium-Battery-Charger-Indicator/dp/B07S3J93Q1
Thanks Ben! For some reason CZcams thinks that asking for a part number is spam!
Hi Adam, is it possible to add a hdmi output and switch between the gameboy and tv?
Yes it can be added but not in this configuration, we work on an AV out at the moment, I am working on HDMI out on the GPi case
What's the total build price may I know of all parts
Will the tinkerboy DPI Adapter work with a Hyperpixel screen?
Hyperpixel is a plug and play screen, you just plug it on top of the pi and it works without using other parts
Any idea on when the Gameboy shell and PCB will be back in your 8bit shop?
Covid hit me very badly in terms of revenue and business, I am trying to bring them asap
what's your button configuration?
Hey Adam, I really want to start this project. I have no experience with soldering so I am hesitant. How long would this take to do? Do you recommend i do the A+ first or do this one straight away? I love ps1 and n64 games so this would be the ideal one for me. However, i do not want to screw up.
Hi Dwayne, I would suggest to start with any of those board, if you can modify the Pi3B+ is the same as Pi3A+ in terms of soldering. Get started with practising soldering, just get any pcb or a perfboard from Amazon and just go at it. With the Gameboy project comes some difficult soldering parts but is nothing too extreme, take them 1 by one and take your time.
@@Adamstech Thank you so much for your suggestions buddy. I will take your advice and keep you posted on how it's going. I modified my old vita and have a ton of emulators (ps1, snes, sega on it). However, there is something about doing this project that just seems fun and amazing. How often do you play it?
Also, did you buy the raspberry kit from Amazon?
I play pretty much every day on it, I got my Pi's from Pimoroni, but if you are in the USA Pihut should be fine,
also did you take in consideration the GPI case? Have a look on Amazon for that! I got videos on it also
@@Adamstech Awesome man. Do Pokemon Yellow, Warioloand 2 and other Gameboy Color classics run well on it?
where can you get button wells to add extra 4 buttons?
I have them on 8bitcustoms.com tonight, button wells and holes stencil
Adam, do you have the name of that 3amp charging circuit?
Just seen the comment, I have a bad time finding the listing, I have it in the order history just as 5V 3A boost converter and the listing is deleted so I can't see the exact part number
Do you do commissions Adam?
Hi, I do it from times to times
Where did you wire your data pins for the button pcb? not for audio or usb but for getting the buttons to work..
On the USB pins on the pi, d+ on d+ and d- on d-
@@Adamstech Do you by chance have a pin layout or a visual depiction of which USB pins are D+ and D-? I cant seem to find a layout online that isnt for GPIO.. Thanks for the Help!
@@davidtovar732 I can share a picture with you right now, but I don't really know how here, can you add me on facebook or instagram and give me a message so I can send it
does it also work with the Raspberry Pi 3 B Version or only +?
It works with any version of Pi.
I still don't understand what I am doing wrong, to build it
I love this! What's the cost to make one of these?
It depends of where you are and what parts you want in it, as you see it there it costs you around 200 to build
@@Adamstech do you sell it one like that. I am in London
I'm sure you're smart enough, think you can help me figure out how to re-install an emulator on my Gameboy?
Just today it had some issues and just restarted itself as if nothing happened
Can i use Pi 4 for this kit?
Unfortunately I haven't tried yet
do you sell any of your builds. I want to make one but I have never done this before.
This month I have commissions opened, so if you want one just give me a shout
@@Adamstech heck yeah dude. I'm having trouble finding how to send you a PM but I'd love to commission one from you
is not really a way of DM on CZcams but you can just add me on Facebook or send me an email at adamalex199226@gmail.com
What's the benefit of this over softmodded psp?
To be honest I don't know but is more about form factor
Still not perfect but much better compatibility with N64 games
Can you pass me the wiring diagram of the analog joystick? Good tutorial! Thanks!!!
I KNEW I FORGOT SOMETHING!!! I will add a link into the description, so sorry!!!
@@Adamstech thank you very much!!!😅
sun9-62.userapi.com/c852136/v852136163/137ab2/SyQ7gZ9Z-Cg.jpg There you go :D
@@Adamstech thanks again !!! 😁
Why didn't you use the Switch joystick? I am planning on using one in my next build. Am I doomed?
Nooo, that is a really good joystick as well, but mine snapped at the ribbon cable while trying to make it fit, but keep in mind it gets broken a bit faster as Switch users keep complain
Thanks!
Adam, what speaker is that?
Is a full range 2w 8 ohm speaker, you can find it on Tinker website, mine are all sold out
@@Adamstech Oh, so that's the one Tinkerboy sells? Good to know. The one I have in my Circuit Sword build is barely audible.
@@franciscogonzalez9165 This one I can guarantee is top notch, but also, can be the amplifier used on the board
Why don't you just use the A+?
Check my other videos for A+, this was a request from some of my viewers
@@Adamstech oh you know what... I think I remember seeing that one. It's the one where you're so excited you're bouncing in your chair during the intro? Lol
Hahaha, yeah that's the one! I started to take myself out from the videos as I can't stop doing that!
@@Adamstech you're just too excited about your projects! I get it!
That no is a 3b+ is only 3b
?
@@Adamstech 3b+ have a ethernet port
That's a cut down board man I say that, check the CPU, it has a heat spreader on
@@Adamstech really? Thats weird. Mine is with the ethernet.
The board has the USB and Ethernet port cut down, again, specified in the video as well
Want to sell a build? :)
Not really, I make these vids so everyone can make it 😊
the built version is so cheap . this is so difficult and requires extensive electronic craftsmanship
