Recorded during a visit in October 2022, I take a look at the wide variety of trains that pass along The Riviera Line visiting Dawlish Warren and Dawlish (with a walk between the two along the famous sea wall section during quite high winds). I also visit Teignmouth a little further round the headland, and finally retrace my steps back to Starcross by the Exe Estuary, so still near the coast......

CAB RIDE - Cotswold Line from Oxford (Wolvercote Junction) to Kingham, after heavy snow in Jan 2010
zhlédnutí 27KPřed 3 lety
Recorded on 6th January 2010 after an unusually heavy snowfall for the south of the UK of around 5 inches, this cab ride runs from Wolvercote Junction (just north of Oxford) through to Kingham along the North Cotswold Line with a train operated by a 3-car Class 166 Turbo. Stopping en-route at Charlbury, it was recorded before the redoubling project of 2011, so it is still single track from Char...

@MyRailwayVideos I am making a film for GTR about Ladbroke Grove 1999 accident, and wondered if I could use a short clip showing the approach to SN109 signal? I can add a credit. Thanks
What a great ride. Thx for having me 👍
Loved this , nothing like the beautiful English countryside , well designed video ,thank you.
Great video but Tytherington sees 5 trips per day for the last 4 years.
Does Jenny still work in the cafe at foregate street????

Thank you for this days video. Being a in a wheelchair and suffering from ALS, it puts a smile on my face. Cheers mate! 🇬🇧🙂👍🇺🇸
What a beautiful day for the ride 😊
Thank you for the interesting video. I’ll be waiting another to come along. Cheers mate! 🇬🇧🙂👍🇺🇸
Thank you, Martin. More to come along very soon.
Hello Sir. A quick question. If I were to credit you on this amazing and truly immersive cab ride, would you be ok with me using this video as a reference to making the Cotswold Line in Train Simulator? It’s an integral missing part to the game
Hi there, yes that would be OK with me - thanks for asking. If you were able to link to the video as part of the TS route then I would be grateful.
@@MyRailwayVideos hi there. Of course! Many thanks for your response!
A most entertaining and informative video, well put together. This is how it should be done. Many thanks.👍
Hi there - many thanks!
Goood 🎉اللهم صل على محمد وآل محمد
I just realised, we were on a great malvern train this whole time but at great malvern, we changed into a Hereford train
Yes, it was recorded over two separate trips as the battery was running low!
Some kind of 'enhanced TPWS++' west of Paddington since all signals seem to be fitted, not just prior to convergence?
Why so much trash along the tracks leaving Paddington Station? Gross
The side views at 1:57:29 are much appreciated! Thank you
Once you get into the country it’s so beautiful to view..😊
Can anyone tell me the information given along with the station names at stops? I'm guessing the number with the m at the end is the distance travelled in miles. But what is the number accompanied by cc?
chains
I attended Kingham Hill School in the 50,s when there was a line from Cheltenham to Chipping Norton. At Kingham Station the platform was over on the far right looking west which also served trains going to "Chippy".There was also a "crossover" just beyond the station mainly for freight traffic going directly to C Norton &,until the early 50,s,on to Banbury. Kingham Station looks very different these days!
At Honeybourne, why is platform one not the up bound platform.?
Hello ! Possibilité d'avoir le nom de la caméra s'il te plaît ? Merci.
Without doubt, taking all the elements which make up a cab ride video, this is,insofar as I can recall probably the best I have ever seen, though the route may have had something to do with that, especially after leaving Oxford behind.
Traveled many times on that line behind a class 50 loco to Worcester back in the 80s
Brilliant video thanks for your hard work
I miss 180s on the Great Western Mainline
Great video. This trip is surly on my Bucket List. From four track mainline to single track secondary lines, what a contrast. As a viewer from Canada it is sure interesting to see passenger trains travelling at 100 mph on single track. In North America the speed in most parts of the continent is kept to 75 mph, not to mention being held for freight trains. Re the comment at 38 mins. I noticed a flying junction at Northallerton to get freight trains onto the North Easton line to wards Sunderland. If they could afford this in the late 19th century, what's the problem today. It just needs commitment from Network Rail. I'm sure that commuters from Oxford would appreciate it. Too many engineers think in the terms of money instead of convenience. In regards to the point in the video at 02:07:00 Great Malvern station; we increase from five to nine coaches. Where did the extra train, added to ours, come from?
I love your videos thank you . But please can you not use the fast scrolling captions, I can’t read them as the move too quickly.
I really enjoyed this, thank you. I was struck by the small number of passengers who seemed to be boarding at each station. Was this a particularly quiet day?
@1.09.16 the line has a public horse bridleway that crosses. Tricky enough at 75mph…. I often crossed it with my dog for nearly 30 years…frankly, it is fast enough as it is.
Fascinating thank you.
What’s the color of the boat house at Hereford??
Can someone tell me why they would remove the double tracks ? Also thanks for this video its very relaxing and ive always wondered whay the linr looks like post oxford
Can anyone explain to this "yankee" what the numbers after the station platform mean? Example "Slough Station ~ Platform 2 (18m 36c)" Thanks.
18 miles 36 chains (from the origin, in this case Paddington)
@@LUAu101 thank you!
👍👍👍💗🤍💚
The weakest train horn I've ever heard.
Imagine having to deal with that beep every 20 seconds.
Considering how much emphasis network rail put on safety with their TV adds and signage etc,, you would think a whistle sign, 30 feet from the actual crossing on a 70mph stretch would be seen as unacceptable. 2.23.09

What a mess the Railway is these days.
Excellent film. How does the driver know the atp warning is eronious?
😂😂😂англия задрипанная страна.помойка..
I have a question: around the 33-34 minutes mark you say that the noise is erroneous (there’s a double yellow signal ahead) and the driver must press a pedal to prevent the emergency brakes to be applied. This sound is the standard in Train Simulator 2014-2016… has something changed from those years? Each time the signal is not green the player has to press a key to ack the noise and avoid the emergency brake to be applied. Why is the sound erroneous now?
What do the black triangles mean ??
This video is like a time-machine winding back! From 21-century London to Hereford and Oxford without electricity.....With old-fashioned semaphore signals it seems that this railroad-track ends up in a museum! To my great surprise I saw a few relics of "good old" Isambard Kingdom Brunel appearing....And I've witnessed a sharp increase in the penalty when you are trespassing on the railroad. It is skyrocketing from 1000 to 2000 quit within a few miles! ( Take a close look at Pershore and Worcestershire Parkway stations.....The red signs on the end of the platforms!) Whose bonkers idea is this?? You'd better file a complaint to GWR! And communicate with the railway police or even the Secretary of Justice in London.....Worcester Shrub Hill Station is build during the Brunel era, in my opinion. It consists of a scruffy station with rusty tracks and long time worn out buildings and was never modernised ever since Victorian days.....But without steam trains, unfortunately.....By the way: the penalty for trespassing on the rail tracks is now "decreased" to 200 quit! I am asking myself who is responsible for this railroad.....Can you figure this out? It is an interesting experience to travel on British railroads.....A very nice video indeed, but the penalty policy on British railroads is a bit difficult to understand, I'm afraid. A very interesting video that begins in the middle of London and ends in the middle of nowhere......
The light blue captions don't stay long enough to read fully.
What are the trackside signs with just a W ? Also good driving, smooth and comfortable. Thanks
Thank you I did enjoy the ride, so clear and the captions were very informative😀I will move to Worcestershire.
