    You can absolutely ensure that people shift away from slowdown perks - you can remove those perks. Instead of making players balance gen regression with their loadout, just balance the mechanic and replace those now-unnecessary perks with actual perks instead of required dead slots in a killer's build.

  • @aeonamadi
    @aeonamadi Před 18 hodinami

    Honestly it is a good idea because, if necessary, you could go the extra step and tie generator regression perks' effects to this statistic. Then it's self balancing because weaker killers who need it get stronger benefits from those perks whereas stronger killers who don't get lesser benefits. Pretty good suggestion I think. Only problem is that it adds another level of complexity to an already fairly complex game. Take a new player who has no idea what any of these things means and try to explain to them what it is and, well... Yeah. Gonna be 90% of the work just trying to find an elegant way to present the information.

    Ehhh what if the weaker killers start running a bunch of gen regression on too of the buffed regression speed wouldnt be the most enjoyable thing to go against either

  • @Caleb-Reid
    @Caleb-Reid Před 20 hodinami

    How about adding a tag to every perk that classifies the type of perk that it is, and for every duplicate tag y ou have equipped, the effects of the perks become weaker (maybe dropping in Tier)? It would encourage build variety without making the perks necessarily unviable while also properly nerfing boring broken builds. Maybe only have this apply to regression perks?

  • @Supboi
    @Supboi Před 21 hodinou

    I don’t understand why they don’t do this technique to all killer perks in the game. Many perks become completely useless on specific killers but also incredibly powerful on other killers. Balance all killer perks to become stronger if they’re weak on some killers and nerf the stronger ones on others. That way every strategy is valid rather than creating a “meta” to force killers to play the same way every. single. time. We can make diversity but that takes a lot of work and effort (which I’m sure behavior doesn’t want to do)

  • @dropedan
    @dropedan Před 21 hodinou

    Honestly the stat for the killer could literally be called "Map Control" and range from low to medium to high and the bonus regression being given based on that. I love your idea Scott, this would really give the low tier killers more range and wouldn't affect the higher ones as much.

  • @Magic0neGaming
    @Magic0neGaming Před 22 hodinami

    Honestly at the very least the new regression stat would at the very least be a temporarily solution for killers that are in a weaker state like trapper until they got around to fixing them. To make a comparison, this is like the HUD update that gave solo queue more info but nothing really for SWF so it effectively bridged the gap between the two. This is basically the same thing for killer...it somewhat bridges the gap. Will it bridge the gap completely? No not even close, but it will help a lot if done right.

    When Huntress reload was buffed, Killers still used iron maiden because now it’s faster. When healing was nerfed, killers still ran anti heal because now it’s better, when DS was nerfed, killers tunnelled more, when gens where nerfed to 90s, killers ran MORE slowdowns because slowdowns is now better. Nerfing gens will just make gen slowdowns better. Killers WILL still run 4 gen slowdowns. They will and that’s that.

  • @leonai97
    @leonai97 Před 23 hodinami

    Maybe you haven't met tunneller that travel across the map, complete ignore gen just to find the first hook survivor. Mostly blight and wesker player. You using your own region player base standard to justify survivor are idiot. Try Asia server.

  • @theworldofmelvin4032

    Yeah idk about this one chief, this is just as likely as behavior deciding which killer is the standard for how powerful a killer SHOULD be and revamping every killer to be just as viable as that one benchmark.

  • @blank4142
    @blank4142 Před dnem

    I always thought Haddonfield was that map that allowed survivors to feel like professionals, even if they weren't trying and/or they were noobs. As in, all of the loops were extremely easy and all super strong. I haven't played killer/dbd in years, and just now getting back into the game as a survivor main, so maybe I am wrong about that now. I will say, the gens feel like they're so naked and close to each other on this map.

  • @MythicTF2
    @MythicTF2 Před dnem

    Honestly, I think this should be expanded beyond gen regression. We can have killers having slightly weaker powers if we buff them in other places. Give all killers 3 more stats: Bloodlust, Wrath, and Bulk. Bloodlust would be a modifier for how quickly they wipe their weapons after a successful hit. Wrath would be how much base regression they do to gens. Bulk would be how long they get stunned for. If you give all killers these 3 stats that modify the base times across the board, you can make Killers like Trapper stronger without buffing Nurse. OR you can nerf Nurse or Blight or Spirit without necessarily changing their powers or add-ons and giving them penalties. Imagine Nurse takes an extra .1 seconds to wipe off her blade and gets stunned at pallets for an extra .15 seconds. That wouldn't be detrimental to Nurse but would be to Trapper.

  • @yamigloxx2899
    @yamigloxx2899 Před dnem

    i think the game would just be better off if it wasnt balanced around slowdowns at all. the whole idea is to make the most boring part of every match take even longer and become even more tedious. i dont think most survivors think regression perks are too strong theyre just annoying.

  • @nathanfernandez69
    @nathanfernandez69 Před dnem

    This solution is not realistic. Relying on the developers and players/consultants to come up with a tier list to help them sounds like a recipe for disaster. Everyone has different opinions about tier lists. The only ones people agree on are Blight, Nurse and Spirit being high tier.

    Gen regression has a finite limit to how much a gen can be regressed now. Imagine not being able to heal or get endurance after already healing X amount of times.

  • @alittleclosertoheaven8549

    Great idea, but, according to the stats (which you can't argue with) Freddy is the 4th strongest killer in the game, while the Nurse is below average, so Freddy remains at 0.25 c/s after a gen kick, while the Nurse must be buffed to 0.75 c/s.

  • @Jibash
    @Jibash Před dnem

    I really wish we got to a point, where base regression is strong enough on its own, and 4 regression perk build isn't opressive. Can it be done just by buffing the former and nerfing the latter? Otherwise we might need a category system (no more than 2 perks of the same typre)

  • @BunnychanFarabee
    @BunnychanFarabee Před dnem

    Good idea, problematic for a number of reasons besides the main reason mentioned (BHVR failing to gauge killer strength). Mainly, Ruin, which on certain maps right now is stronger than it has *ever* been thanks to the 5% repair rule kicking in every time you hop off a gen. This new regression value would either have to ignore or interact with Ruin's % value. While the former would make the perk obsolete, the latter would be dangerous considering the two killers you mentioned as the weakest are in fact fairly good (and in Trapper's case, insane) at defending totems. Hag and Demogorgon would have to be adjusted *solely* on the basis of being S-Tier Ruin defenders. Second, metas change based on new perks and seeming unrelated buffs/nerfs regularly. Remember when Ultimate Weapon turned Pig into the most lethal killer overnight last year due to the interruption of box searches? Now there would have to be another factor to balance around for every killer...and consultants or not, I don't trust BHVR to do the work required.

  • @parrot_rus
    @parrot_rus Před dnem

    no this is not good idea. it cannot be based on killer. simply because a player can main let's say nemesis and be absolutely insane on him, and at the same time suck as billy. So what, the player should get punished for playing a killer they are not very experienced with? At this point the regression should be based on hooks/gens progress then. Good amount of hooks and 4 gens left : super slow to no regression then (it should count overall gen progress, not just the number of gens left, otherwise survivors can 99%). 1-2 hooks and 1 gen left : good regression. Requirements and small details should be thought out very well.

  • @Blake_Stone
    @Blake_Stone Před dnem

    DBD has a fundamental problem where generators always seem too fast from the Killer side but you can't keep making them take longer because they're really boring on the Survivor side. Just as Killers don't log into the game to play Gen Defence Simulator, Survivors aren't there for Skillcheck Simulator. I think long term the game is going to have to reconsider the objectives, possibly adding a greater variety of things Survivors can do to open the gates beyond sitting on generators. But that's a massive change so Behaviour probably isn't keen. Similarly regression perks are clearly superior to all others and they probably need to bite the bullet and make it only possible to equip one, just like Exhaustion perks, in order to balance the game. But since they can't even seem to commit to finally fixing outliers like Nurse and Blight, they clearly aren't giving game health enough of a priority.

    I think the problem is that BHVR just can't balance and differentiate between very strong and very weak killers. They tried to put effort into making base kit add-ons but that's just not enough because most of the time, all the other addons are give a minor advantage. They go by stats and assume nurse is balanced because her kill rate is 60%.

    Okay so let me get this straight. In the past killers got more and more regression perks added to the game like deadlock, pain res, grim embrace, erruption and so on. Bhvr being bhvr messed them up and made them too strong or too weak until they reached a good spot overall. However bhvr than also decided giving one of the weaker perks being grim embrace a buff which resulted in grim embrace becoming a meta perk straight up. Now because there soo many more options than only (ruin/pop) many players started to just go full on crazy slapping on gen slowdown only. Obviously this is kinda problematic as the individual perks are already quite strong but can be straight up busted if stacked. As an answer to that bhvr nerfed those regressions and except for pop those nerfs werent super crazy either. Now we want to have an additional form of base regression because the opressive 4 gen slowdown option got nerfed a bit? Thats like survivors asking for more god pallets or faster gens because their dh got nerfed. Thats like blight players asking for some base kit buffs because the iri addons that people relyed on a lot got gutted. Whats next? Are we asking for some basekit version of certain bugs we abused and got used to? Like how are people seeing that something too strong gets nerfed and go like "well but I got absolutly used to it so now how about some more basekit regression buffs?" Deary me this community never ceases to amaze me I wont lie...

    @cosmichoodie2641 Před dnem

    I had an idea a while ago that I'm not sure would work or able to be balanced (also behavior would never actually implement it cause it would be a ton of work) but it was basically a rework to the perk system where rather than having 4 perk slots, you would have a number of "perk points" to spend and each perk would be assigned a point value. you could then make it so the stronger killers have less points than the weaker ones, meaning they wouldn't be able to run as many perks, and the stronger perks would obviously cost more, adding to that (all survivors would have the same number of points). again I have no clue how balanced this would actually be but I thought it would at least be interesting

    While this is very much true, I’m still not entirely certain it’d fix the over reliance on regression perks. I still think some sort of additional base kit regression for all killers would be useful, potentially something which rewards not tunneling (for instance, dealing minor damage to all generators each time you hook a unique survivor before any survivor has died) would go a long way to rebalance regression and make perkless killer less miserable. The amount could even be determined by the stat just like the base regression. Just a thought overall.

  • @BrightWulph
    @BrightWulph Před dnem

    They're going to have to do something about this gen regression soon, I've already seen a lot of forum posts and Twitter posts complaining about killers slugging more. Like sure, slugging at five-gens is cringe. But when lower-teir killers or even killers who don't have good gen pressure but good chase power (like you said) loose two-three gens before they can get their first hook, it is incredibly worrisome. Like what else is the killer supposed to do? Even with a good chase power like Legion, Wraith, Clown they can't be in four places at once. It's even more worrisome when survivors equip themselves with saboteur, hyperfocus, WoO, Lythe, DS, Unbreakable, OTR, Weaving Spiders, Boon:Exponetial, Boon:Discord etc paired with Comodius+brand new part+hacksaw. Like sure, SoloQ will be slightly more disorganised, but if they play smart and have the right builds, they can cause a problem for a lower-teir killer or slower skilled killer players. We seem to be heading towards a Meta where it'll be easy to bully the killer, which will lead to killers slugging and bleeding out more because of their frustrations with the game, which in turn will make survivor games miserable and then BHVR will step in and make basekit unbreakable, wich will make strategic slugging useless. Thus the cycle continues.
