What a wonderful informative video. I have recently started a hobby in woodworking and I have ordered a pocket hole jig and bit. I thought it was supposed to be a durable way of screwing the wood together, but after watching your video I now see it has many faults. But I will give it a go and see if I can make a few joints with the technique. Many thanks

When I saw the title I thought of a Shopsmith in Drill Press mode. Other than rack and pinion adjustment your jig has it all. You have inspired me to make one for the local community centre wood shop which has a metal working drill press complete with all the frustration you mention.

Hmmmm, interesting. When I started watching this and you mentioned the importance of pilot holes i thought 'I don't remember that being mentioned by ANY of the youtube vids about jigs on the market'. Lo and behold you then said exactly what I was thinking and introduced a separate bit (the aircraft bit) for the pilot hole part of the process. Well done, Nick, I must look up some more of your videos.

In early 70's I used to work for a woodworking company called Dankeart in UK. What this great man is teaching, we used to do them very often. I'm retired now and I enjoy watching his videos. He's unique. God bless you Sir.

you want two stickers right at the end of the lumber. This reduces the surface area exposed right at the end of the log countering water escaping from the ends excessively

Despite measuring and re-setting the angle of my table saw blade with a variety of squares and digital tools, I couldn't for the life of me cut a true 45-degree miter. It was always very slightly off regardless of what any of my measuring devices said to the contrary. After learning about marking the blade runoff from this video, I got a perfect miter after one attempt. Never would have considered that myself, but it makes so much sense once you point it out. Thanks so much for the guidance!

I made a huge mistake when I was making my edge guide and I had to rebuild it. It is vital to ensure the circular saw blade is exactly 90 degrees to the base, otherwise you may be cutting a bevel on the edge of the saw guide before your first use. If the blade is trued before the second cut, it may remove some of the bevel and alter the distance from factory edge to cutting edge. Yes, it is minuscule but there.

I have an old 1970s face framed cabinet, and the doors sit flush into the frame. I ve been trying to find a hinge that works but is able to adjust in all directions. I don’t think it exists.
