      It depends what you mean by stable. It is working for me and my usage namely roasting 1 kg coffee in succession either by just starting the roast in the app or by replicating an artisan profile. It can disconnect or you run into a bug from time to time though. When the hardware is done you normally only need to tinker with software, so thats way more comfortable IMHO ;)

    at home, if we store coffee beans in the hopper and plug the spout of the ground coffee outlet with something for the night... will we get a semblance of a sealed container?

    • @nvprojects7601
      @nvprojects7601 Před 2 lety

      It depends on the grinder and what is sealed for you. Some ginders are just sealed around the burrs using a piece of rubber to keep most grinds out. Some grinders are precision machined, but I think they are never air tight. Plugging the spout would probably help keeping the CO2 in and thus conserving the beans better/longer but I wouldn't worry too much about that. If you have freshly roasted beans from home or your local roster, they normally stay fresh for one to three weeks in the hopper and start degrading when the volume in the hopper goes down. I did single dosing with home roasted beans fresh, after a degassing period and also kept them in the hopper and in the end I could tell the difference when comparing A/B at most but not from a single cup. The beans do not taste that much different from storing them in the grinder than storing them elsewhere. Keep in mind that a box will also have the air sitting on the beans, especially at the end when the jar empties. Having a jar with a lid that pushes onto the coffee always airates the coffee when opening again, single dosing into small flasks has a higher air (between and over the beans) to overall beans/degas ratio, freezing I would not recommend. So my tip would be to just drink enough coffee to have always fresh beans and buy from a local roaster and maybe purch a few seconds in the morning to get the really old stuff from over night out of the grinder.

    Does this measure environment temp only?

  • @vab120
    @vab120 Před 2 lety

    Use their new blow up hopper. Or just use it on demand with the portafilter that’s what I do : use a Pearl to weight the dose, a Lunar to time the extraction. I never put more than 50 grams each day, the rest stays in an air sealed box in the freezer. It has no time to get rancid.

    • @nvprojects7601
      @nvprojects7601 Před 2 lety

      freezing can also degrade the beans. I do not notice great differences when filling the hopper or just single dosing. The key is for the hopper to be filled with more beans than just a few grams. They keep quite fresh for a week, maybe because the beans still degas CO2. A roaster would also put them in an open container for weeks before the beans are packaged and shipped so straight from the roaster at home you should be good for a few weeks and even store bought coffee holds up better then you might think.

    • @nvprojects7601
      @nvprojects7601 Před 3 lety

      The setting is not absolute. It is close to touching burrs, then maybe a half turn open. It's the original atom and I still like it a lot. Dead space seems reasonable and the coffee is very fluffy, no clumps and I find the less you distribute manually after grinding the better the shot.
