  • Retention test for single dosing. Not recommended, though I like the grinder for normal use due to its low noise level.

Use their new blow up hopper. Or just use it on demand with the portafilter that’s what I do : use a Pearl to weight the dose, a Lunar to time the extraction. I never put more than 50 grams each day, the rest stays in an air sealed box in the freezer. It has no time to get rancid.

freezing can also degrade the beans. I do not notice great differences when filling the hopper or just single dosing. The key is for the hopper to be filled with more beans than just a few grams. They keep quite fresh for a week, maybe because the beans still degas CO2. A roaster would also put them in an open container for weeks before the beans are packaged and shipped so straight from the roaster at home you should be good for a few weeks and even store bought coffee holds up better then you might think.

Do you single dose all the time with this grinder? It seems as though it would be a pain in the butt!

No, I never single dose. It is a pain :)

@@DylansHomeEspressoBar It is nice to have all ready to go in the morning or when working from home. No measuring can be nice, too. For single dosing e.g. with new roast profiles or for fun my fallback is a Portaspresso hand grinder. For the price of a good single dose electric grinder you can easily get an Eureka plus a good hand grinder which is also portable.

Hi, I see you don't have the original Eureka hopper on the grinder. I can know what kind of hopper it is and where to buy it. Thanks

      Hi,
it was a special offer from Londinium. They had some glass hoppers custom made for a different grinder. Since the size almost matches the Eureka I stuck it in with a bit of cotton cloth as buffer. I think it was produced by Torr, maybe check them out.

@@nvprojects7601 great, thanks for the info. Eureka also manufactures and sells glass hoppers. Fits all Eureka models. The link is among the options. :)
